Why did you replace the switch? My headlights just started coming on by themselves when the 2001 Jeep is parked. It is random, even if it hasn't been running for a few days.
My lights would flicker unless I held the knob at a certain position. If your lights are turning on randomly, the switch is a good place to start but I'd also check if there's any water leaking that would cause the short
Make sure you are pressing the button all the way in. If that doesn't work, try to spray some pb blaster around the knob shaft. Perhaps the contacts are corroded
@@bdr5150 maybe spray some pb blaster on the shaft and pull it out and push back in to lube it. I wouldn't worry about damaging the switch if you are replacing it anyway

@@jglasser if i push it any harder ill break the plastic. I can feel the detent in the shaft hitting the button, but it is not releasing.
Any clue what the bolt you take off is called? I’m missing that so i can’t install my new switch
@@mckoipendleton1888 you mean the nut that mounts to the switch to the dash?
