How to adjust preload on a Turbosmart actuator

This video demonstrates how to properly adjust preload on your Fiesta ST with Turbosmart actuator. This applies to both OEM and Pumaspeed turbos.
I recommend 3 turns of preload to start, and if further adjustment is needed, it will be recommended. Thanks for watching.

Hi mate, my friend have currently a 11psi on stock turbo for a stage2 reprog. Is this setting for the prelaod working with the stock turbo? Thanks for your help

Yo dizzy I have purchased this same turbo and 7psi actuator. I would like to set this up myself following your guide. Has the 3 full turns for preload worked out ok or have you made further adjustments for your tune/setup? I am currently going to upgrade to Pumaspeeds stage 3r mapping.

So weird I turned it about 4 times and got Boost Cut from ECU... reverted back to stock and all good, I later put on a bigger CHRA cartridge with the same wastegate and spring, and did the 4 turns again and now it does not boost cut...why is this the case or reason... it was my understanding a bigger turbine would cause more boost spike.

3 turns seem excessive. I don't know for sure, just thinking I'd do dand tight, then 1 turn to 1.5 turn, depending on the pressure. You don't want to preload the actuator spring too much....

Exactly, turbosmart says preload the actuator spring with just 1 nut turn (1mm).

Aint you supposed to set these with a vacuum pump? I mean this seems like guess work. Like mine requires 6inHg

Pretty sure turbosmart preload is 2mm
