Thank you Emily for these tips. Where I live (South Switzerland) is full of rock gardens 😄😄😄

Thanks for this very helpful presentation. It seems you did not even have a cameraman, so even more impressive the level of work required. Gold star!

Yours are my new favorite MTB technique videos (and I've watched them all). Straight to the point, clearly articulated, and experience based. Thank you!!!

Good tips! Keeping my speed just fast enough to not stall out has been huge for me - downhill and uphill.

You're welcome! It's on a trail that runs between the villages of Montchavin and Landry, near Bourg St Maurice in France.

To master rock gardens rock beds, one must learn to go slow. It's far easier to blast or plough through. 👍

Hi! How often is it normal to get punctures riding rock gardens? And when should you begin to blame your form/the suspensions of the bike/the tires quality?

    • @EmilyHorridge

Hard to say! I can only really answer on my own experience which is on a DH bike with DH casing, almost never. On an Enduro bike with EXO or EXO+ type casing, potentially more often! I run Rimpact tyre inserts in my wheels with EXO tyres so that I don't have the heavy drag of a DH tyre on the climbs but I still have good rim and puncture protection. Trying to pick a smooth line helps but sometimes you still smack the wheel against something extra pointy. If you feel like you're choosing the smoothest line you can and there's nothing more you can do as the rider, then I'd defo be thinking about heavier duty tyres and/or tyre inserts. Hope that helps!

@@EmilyHorridge nevermind I eventually found the usual stupid thorn 😅 I think I'll buy jnserts because here where I live the trails are meant for walking and are hardly maintained/used anyway
      Thank you for your reply!
