If the citizens of Azeroth were terrified seeing Argus appear in the sky, imagine how the Burning Legion felt upon seeing the world that had defied them for so long, that had defeated them not once, not twice, but _four_ times (counting the War of the Ancients, the 3rd War, BC, and Legion with Kil'jaden's death) appear in the sky above the very heart of their crusade.
After watching the Shadowlands Dark Abduction cinematic, I can only imagine Maiev here looking up into the sky ripping open, showing Argus, and she screams “ILLIDAN!!!” exactly like Greymane yells “SYLVANAS!!!” in the new cutscene.
That's Illidan for ya. He's willing to sacrifice his own people for the "greater good" but the moment someone wants to sacrifice HIM it's all "MY FATE IS MY OWN!!"
+Danterik This is Blizzard we are talking about and as everyone knows, they can't keep their story strait. Even Draenei are a retcon as they were supposed to all be evil and responsible for Sargeras' corruption, it was latter changed to just Nathrezim being responsible.
Michael Jr Sadgwar no he's not. He actually is old now. Back during the first war when Medhiv cursed him yeah he looked old but was young. That was 35 years ago. He is in his late 40's now. He's older than Jaina by like 10 years!
Besides the dialogue, it's amazing how with such subtle face expression and animation you can really tell the tragedy in Kil'jaeden's final moment. It's all there, sadness, disappointment, guilt, shame... you could isolate the last frames before he explodes and get that just by looking at his face. Good job Blizzard, you really nailed that one!
I still find it awe inspiring that after everything, after 25,000 years of being hunted, even after having his own son turned into a demon lord and being pit against him, and then watching him die, Velen still bore nothing but mercy and sorrow in his heart towards Kiljaeden. Velen understands that their positions could have been reversed so very easily. The only reason Velen saw Sargeras for what he really is and realized what accepting his offer would do to his people, was because of Velen's gift of foresight. Without that random, natural born gift, Velen too would have also been lured in by Sargeras' flawless, awe inspiring guise as perfect, golden god and his technically truthful promise to reveal the ultimate secrets of the universe. It was by pure chance of fate, rather than any triumph of character.
Some may not remember, but the last sentence that Illidan says "Sometimes, the hand of fate must be forced" is the same sentence he uses in WarCraft III Frozen Throne cinematics intro.
I think BFA was cramped with storylines. In Legion, they focused on the Burning Legion only with a small hint of the void. In BFA there was the faction war, Nazjatar and N'Zoth, each could have its own expansions
The absolute weight in a single action. Velen touching Kil'Jaeden on the forehead, not to allow him to escape somehow, not to heal him (not that it would've worked), but as if to say "I forgive you" or "You needn't be envious of me" or even still, if he gave KJ a vision somehow, "The burden I carry is one we both know well".
Not even kidding this cinematic almost made me cry the first time I saw it. I've always been a sucker for Blizzard's story-crafting, especially the lore of the Warcraft universe. This is, hands down, one of the most epic endings to a cinematic I've ever seen in any game. Can't wait for 7.3!
Legion was such an amazing expansion! From the Harbingers cinematics to Sargeras stabbing Azeroth, the cinematics were on point and I watch them to this day :O
I love how the original point of this dungeon was to shut down the legion's connection to azeroth. Illidan just like "that's not a portal, THIS IS A PORTAL!!!"
I like to think that when Velen placed his hand on Kil'jaeden's head, he was sharing his thoughts with him through their link as siblings so that he would know that he had forgiven him. That's why Kil'jaeden's expression softens as this happens, and accepts his fate.
The Hand of Fate must be forced: the last times that we have faced off against the Legion, we've only pushed them back far enough to no longer be any trouble to Azeroth, never going too far into their territory to essentially stop them: We stopped Kil'jaeden at the Sunwell but we didn't pursue. We stopped Archimonde at Hellfire Citadel, yet we did not stop Gul'dan. Illidan knows that the only way that we can truly stop the Legion from invading Azeroth is to invade _them_ at their own homeworld first!
The last time Illidan said "sometimes the hand of fate must be forced" he summoned the Naga, made pact with the Legion and nearly destroyed the world with Eye of Sargares. Now he literally stole a world.
I like that The Legion's invasion completely backfired, and had caused them to not only lose their seat of power, but Sargeras himself, thus ending the burning crusade. It's just so damm cathartic to see it all burn to the ground.
And then everyone died because well... the gravity of Argus caused mass floods everywhere and further eroded the earth, causing countless cities to collapse under mudfalls. Goddamnit Illidan.
Norseman argus couldn't manipulate azeroths gravity because it was a rift , he didn't physically pull argus into the same space as Azeroth and for all we know argus doesn't have regular gravity anymore since it's world soul left
@@ArkBlanc well, technically speaking Illidan created some sort of wormhole. It's pretty debatable whether they exist in our real life, but theoretically wormhole should not work as you described. In short, wormhole doesn't have any mass itself and gravitional forces of both Argus and Azeroth should not spread beyond the wormhole. So it shouldn't cause any trouble for Azeroth. This next patch sort of proves my point that WoW is nearing its endgame. Argus has always been teased as being "the last expansion," though we all know by now that this isn't going to be the case. 7.3 pretty much will put us on the dead world either to face Sargeras or to at the very least put a permanent beatdown on the Burning Legion. After that, we're probably going to get an Old God related expansion where the pillars of creation overload when trying to close the portal to Argus, awakening the Old Gods in full force and unleashing them on the world, and then at that point we might get an expansion related to the Void Lords. Unless WoW manages to find some way to limp along afterwards the way Rift's been doing I doubt that it can continue after that - Rift's major issue has and always will be that it ran out of stuff to do in the main plot and so the story had to improvise from there and nobody wound up liking it, if WoW tried to do that it'd be the same thing that happened with MoP and WoD, and I kind of doubt that nobody wants that. Unless Blizzard manages to decide to pull a fast one by making the opposite side of Azeroth available for play, but instead of increasing the level cap they actually invite players to make new characters to quest from the ground up again. That would actually be interesting.
Blizzard, I just want a race that has the charisma of the Humans, the strengt of an Orc, the Highclassness of a Blood Elf, the wisdom of the Draenei, the greedyness of a Goblin, the will of a Dwarf, the intelligence of a Gnome, the peacefulness of a Tauren, the patient of a Pandaren, the beauty of the Night Elves, the healing of a Troll, the architecture of the Worgens and the shadowyness of the Forsaken. Is that too much to ask Blizzard?
His gambit actually worked! Although it's a bit ironic, his words on fate and what happened later on Argus....also, WHY did Velen touch his head, what was he doing exactly?
Garosh in his hitler mode kills Theramore, pandas and even his own peons during the siege. "Nah we won't kill him for that". Grom kills thousands of draenei and who knows how many horde/aliance. Then somehow everyone forget this and he is redeemed in the final scene. Illidan kills many during his heroic deeds in the name of "i have more sacrifice points then you do". And there he's standing like the whole BC didn't even happen. For some reason i keep getting the immage of Bioware in my head and that song "I'm only human, ... don't put the blame on me".
This is why i firmly believe Illidan is the Lord of Ravens. I mean he was the apprentice of Lord Ravencrest who was also known as the Lord of Ravens. Illidan is the one who turns the key. "The Key to All Worlds" The Sargarite Keystone
