2. Pokemon may be leveled to 1.1x their Ace
3. Attract, Double Team, Evasiveness/Accuracy altering moves, and OHKO moves may not be used
4. Only Held Items are allowed

7:09 nuzleaf in the footage is lvl 48 instead of 46.
Oh no! Because of how I edit pokemon/change the team, sometimes the total amount of experience gets shifted and the levels end up a little off in the editor.
Usually I'm able to catch it before editing and re-do the fight, but I guess this time it slipped under my nose.
I don't think the result will change, but for consistency's sake I'll run the fight again at lvl. 46 sometime soon and make sure I could still win with Nuzleaf. If, for some reason, I end up with a failure, I'll edit the score in the next video to reflect that.
As much as I would like to see how Blue stacks up I personally think he should be held off for something like the finale to see how much of a difference there is between a champion, the gym leaders, and the elite 4
Next one should definitely be Norman. Blue can be saved for later
I think you should retest Bruno using your current ruleset. The additional restrictions regarding level, available moves and attempt counts will probably make a number of the original victors not so lucky.
Seconded. The series has evolved so much since then. Full Level 100s and unlimited attempts ABSOLUTELY change the outcome. Heck, I've solo'd the FRLG E4 rematch with a BEEDRILL thanks to unlimited attempts.
i would like to see this challenge go through the Winstrate Family. you can even cap it at level 18 to match Vicky's Meditite, which could matter when trying to beat seven Pokemon with just one
👀 now this is an interesting idea...
I’m inclined towards Norman with protect banned by tm in round one as I’m curious how much it actually impacts slaking’s performance
Norman, but don't allow the protect tm in the first round
With the way T&L terrorized an entire generation of players, 83 BQ is still very high. Though it's understandable considering that this is as if you spent the entire game solely preparing for that fight, the highly optimised and TM-rich movesets change a lot, not to mention perfect mons and tailored EVs.
For your pokemon count, i think the denominator should increase as the video goes through round 1 as well as the numerator. Having 30/202 after one or two types is less useful than having 30/32
This is a good idea, because it also acts as a sort of "loss counter."
I'll see about implementing that in future BQs
These videos are so enjoyable all around. Glad I stumbled upon your channel. Keep up the good work man!
Thank you!
21:23 Man that Beldum scream killed me 😂🤣
Came for the challenge, but now i want to see the theory you nentioned
Vs blue champion: If you battle with water Pokemon fight his venusaur. When you battle with grass Pokemon fight against Charizard team. When with fire fight him against his blastois. With other types use randomize circle to decide what team you fight. On round 2 fight his weaker starter
Did you consider swaggering your teammate, basically swords dance that needs luck, it might help for something like trapinch. Also consider making 1 slightly slower than the other to control the turn order when you use set up moves
I don’t usually watch the videos that the algorithm feeds me that I don’t recognize, but this one was solid. I think you’ve earned a sub today.
I appreciate you checking it out!
The fact that it wasn’t like 100% means this rule set is the best so far
It'd be interesting to see how a Plusle/Minun team performed compared to either of the teams with two of one of them. Their abilities are designed to be used together.
I think you should do blue with whatever team is strongest against the pokemon. For instance, use the Charizard team against bug types, Venusaur team against grock types, etc.
this is one of my favorite series
Im so Happy Skitty and Delcatty did well!! They are my favorite pokemon ❤
Creative challenge, the current ruleset is super interesting so gj!
Thanks! I'm glad we were able to workshop a solid ruleset for this series
18:32 Shiny Duskull
I vote for Norman, especially since the existence(or lack of as it's in Lilycove) of the Protect TM would greatly affect how a Pokemon is able to deal with Slaking and whether you do the Ruby/Sapphire team(2 Slakings but 3 Pokemon) vs the Emerald team(1 Slaking but 4 Pokemon).
I still say to do three rounds, 1st(full point) being everything available before Norman, 2nd(0.5 points) being everything in-game but without the Project TM, and the last(0.25 points) being that the Protect TM is necessary for Slaking. Of course of a Pokemon is able to learn Protect/Detect, they'll have an advantage over the Pokemon who might need the Protect TM. At least Dig/Dive would be useful substitutes for the Protect TM if they can learn it
I think you do norman now and blue we save for much later when we do all the champions and harder fights
My vote for the next BQ is absolutely Norman. Slaking is so well designed with Truant it’ll be interesting to see which Pokémon have to get crafty to beat it.
oh hell yeah i love this series so much
I'm for the Norman sentiment in the comments, but banning Protect entirely in Round 1 seems a bit much. Maybe banning Protect for Pokémon who don't learn it via level up before your level cap could be viable, since the Protect TM isn't available until Lilycove? Otherwise working with whatever TMs are available up to that point of gameplay (so Toxic is fine, but Dive is not). Might involve more research, but would also create more parity.
I agree that Norman should be up next, but I disagree that protect should be banned. While it is easily exploitable it is by no means a guaranteed win. It’s not a luck dependent strategy like evasion or accuracy moves, and it’s replicable in every run you do unlike Hidden Power.
skitty praised 10/10 video
I thought that the double battle would be a hindrance to the test but you made it work. Good video!
PS: Take down Norman, plus. =3
Okay so hear me out, I have a fun little idea! What if there was a round 3, where Pokemon were allowed to be level 100, but they would be worth only 0.25 points (or even less points if the opponent is a lower level).
Maybe trainer's ace Pokemon's level /200 for the score? So level 46 beaten by a level 100 would be 0.23 points, but if the trainer's ace is level 26, that would be 0.13 points if beaten by a level 100.
This would give a chance to the really bad Pokemon like Magikarp to at least do something!
Norman needs to be next. I think Blue should be saved for later In The series.
And for Norman you need to at least ban protect for round one.
Well unless the Pokémon naturally learns it via Lv up by the Lv cap you set for Norman.
Idk if any one does learn protect by Lv up.
i know dustox learns it via lvl up, but i also don't see a reason to restrict the use of protect. you'd use it during the normal game, so to simulate the normal game, it would be best to use the options you have available, including protect
@@questrequested9171 Because you don't get Protect until the Lilycove Department Store
I'd love to see you re-do some of the older videos with the updated ruleset! As for the next new one, I'd love to see you fight Norman with the same rules. A lot of people talking about Protect, I think if it's learned via level-up by that point it should be okay to use.
Due to Pure Power Meditite's attack is twice what it's special attack is.
Norman should be next and Blue held off. I think for future double battles, you should be able to give the same TM to both pokemon in round 1 if you can get multiple copies in game. If you can only get one copy before the fight, then only one pokemon can get it. But, for TMs that you could theoretically get 2+ copies (such as TMs bought through the shop) then both pokemon should be able get it in round 1
I think Norman would be cool.
Great video! What song do you use at 7:47?
rather than champion blue, i think gym leader blue (gsc or hgss) would be interesting for this series, with champions being done after there's a more robust ranking for all the most notorious gym leaders/elite four across the series to see how they stack up, you know?
You have to do Blue with the Blastoise
0:50
I actually want to see this video
W shiny Duskull
The shiny duskull was the cherry om the cake for me
are we not doing separate bq for each blue team😢
Norman
I'm hoping to see Gym Leader Norman next, keep the Emerald Leaders coming
I think you should do Blue next, specifically the one with Charizard, that one gives me the most trouble in my play throughs
Big fan of norman next
Let's see Champion Blue. Give him his Blastoise team
Let’s go with Champion Blue, do his Venusaur team
Yeah obviously
18:33 Well hello shiny
blue blastoise
I wonder if plusle and minun together (like in the thumbnail) would work, given their ability
If I could take the Claydol out, their abilities (because they raise Special Attack) might make it easier to deal with the others even at low health.
But they don't learn any non-electric special moves naturally, so unless I get really lucky with swagger/Iron Tail to get rid of Claydol, I'm unfortunately not sure it would make a huge difference :(
Norman would be good
The next one should be Norman
Norman, but not protect in round 1
If grock is a type, then I want Brock to stand for bisexual rocks.
Approved, signed and collected.
We stand for bi-rocks on this channel ✊
Dad Norman
Seedot and nuzleaf were level 48?
Check the pinned comment :)
Just got here, my prediction is that they will be harder than Witney, but easier than Clair. We will see if that’s right.
Edit: Wow, I was not expecting them to be more difficult than Clair. It is honestly impressive how many Pokemon were unable to beat them. In regard to who you should go up against next, I think Blue would be interesting. Maybe with his Blastoise team, as it is often considered to be his “canon” starter due to Red normally being associated with Charizard and has no easy to exploit weaknesses, (assuming it is the gen 1 version of the fight), making it the hardest of the three options. But who ever you fight, I’m sure it will be very interesting to see how they do.
Norman pls
Normen
Lotad bros not like this...
:(
Honestly, I think the main thing that makes these BQs somewhat meaningless to compare is in my eyes the level caps you set. You keep changing them. I get that you‘re trying to make them „fair“, so you consider how many pokemon the oponents have and so on… but having a level difference of 5 here, but of 15 against Clair means there is almost nothing to compare here.
A huge level difference will mean the difference between one-shotting some of the opponent‘s pokemons or not… which makes a HUGE difference.
Level advantages don‘t scale linearly. Which is why I don‘t think you should vary them.
Honestly, I‘d almost argue for the level always being either maxed out, or equal to the trainer‘s best pokemon. I get why that‘s not great either. Because maxed out means almost everybody can win. And only going for the ace‘s level as the cap means many, many pokemon won‘t have a chance at all.
Maybe just go with 1.5 the ace‘s level, always?
Ignore how many pokemon the opponent has. After all, the challange is to see who‘s team can be defeated by how many pokemon, right? If one of the trainer you‘re testing only has 2 pokemon… well, that‘s an aspect of their team. You don‘t need to adjust for that, that‘s just how their team works.
Obviously no solution is ideal. But I don’t think the way the levels are currently handled works to compare the different trainers.
Just my 5 cents of thoughts.
I love the series as a whole! Keep up the good work!
Norman, no protect TM at all.
