The fact that Chris got the 1st and last endings where the MC survived both encounters are super lucky. Supposed for Ending 2-4 was when MC goes to the straight door (not to the right), gets caught while hiding, looking back or when being loud while finding the way to MCs car
You know, it definitely didn't do anything *groundbreaking* here, but you can tell there's definitely a solid understanding of all sorts of things going on in horror, and how to use them decently! The pacing wasn't too bad (slow start as you explore, and then ramping up interestingly with some surreal aspects), there was some thought to a story, the voice acting was honestly very good (props to the protag especially, he did fantastic Amateur Vlogger to Panicked Dude, just a shame there wasn't even more of him), and it really did surprise me with things like the little riddle section and throwing things through a window and even voice recognition! All of this is to say that while it's not fancy, it definitely shows potential for the dev, and I'd really look forward to seeing them improve as they make more games!
3:56 Okay I must pause the video because this is very head-scratching. So, the girl is found dead in the bathroom and instead of using the Towels in the bathroom, she uses a towel in the kitchen to stop her from breathing. Now another question is how does one determine that to be self-inflicted? Like if the reporter said she used the Towel as a noose, then I can buy that. But from the sounds of it, she just pressed a towel over her face to prevent airflow. Not sure about you, but besides towels are not much like Pillows, your body's survival instincts would kick in pushing you away to grab air. I know that maybe later in the game they might reveal that some unnatural force did this to her or something, but I highly doubt any police detective would conclude how she died was self-inflicted with that method.
I also waited to watch Chris play this game, and I just checked out Gab’s play through and she got ending #3 about halfway through her video, an ending you avoided by not leaving the basement and using the locker to hide. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone but I think it explains a little more and it was interesting to see how your instinct to NOT leave the basement saved you!
When I saw her playthrough, I had hoped Chris would get to it soon. I'm surprised he managed two good endings in a row with no mistakes, especially considering how many times Gab died. Now I'm just waiting for The Librarian to play it, since he actually does UrbEx as a hobby and will likely include a few personal experiences in his commentary.
@@Laura_5757 He plays a lot of more obscure horror games and even a lot of map mods, with an overall channel theme of "creepy and comfy" He's also an avid urban explorer. The channel was originally him sharing horror stories he'd collected and some personal UrbEx videos, but he's since really branched out. A good example is his Viscera vids, where he comes up with theories about what happened, as well as discussing horror movies and other topics. It's a very laid back horror channel in all the best ways (hence the "comfy").
I have to admit that I am like many other viewers if your channel: you are a comfort watch even though what you play are horror games. There’s just something about the humor and the horror and your tone of voice…. Two thumbs up man. Thank you.
i mean the dire reminds me of so many games but i'll award it points for 1) letting us leave early on 2) not adhering to the tired and extremely overused "horror game is when bad ending" trope
The scariest thing about this game is the awkward sizes of everything. I've never seen such tiny floor lamps and grandfather clocks, and the volleyball and dummy are massive. WTH!?
You did a great job going through this. I believe there are five endings. I enjoyed this one, especially the sounds. The voice acting was pretty solid too. I found the look of it was too… fuzzy? blurry? not sure, but it wasn’t crisp like real vision should be, which was a little distracting. The storyline was interesting, twisted, and sad. Not sure what happened to the rest of the family. I presume the “tall” monster killed them. 🤷♀️ Would have liked a little more background on him and what he’s supposed to be. Overall, a fun, creepy little game. Thanks, Chris!
Chris.. You are an amazing youtuber and I've been subscribed to your channel for many years!! I am so proud of how far you have come. Buddy many more good years ahead ❤❤
this is an extremely underra channel, his voice is PERFECT. I watch longer videos on repeat (after I've been totally emersued in) to sleep to, or to just have on in the background. yes I'm drunk, but I speak the truth.
Merry Gratuitous Mannequins, Everybody! 🎄🌟 Will somebody _please_ tell indie horror devs that there needs to be justification for placing mannequins randomly throughout a game??! 🙄 This game was pretty rough and scattered and missed out on opportunities to provide some context/backstory but, as Chris said, it kind of grew on me as it got weirder. It wasn't a great game, imo, but it also wasn't terrible. I'm hoping for some terrible holiday horror games. Just wondering--has anyone run across a Kwanzaa or Hanukkah horror game?
Aha! a Chris upload on a bleak Saturday evening has become a kind of ritual. I've been watching your old playthrough of Darkness Within from WAAAY back when you were merely a chubby lad with a handful of subscribers. OG point and click horror game and SO damn good. I like how Chris can now recognise any used asset in any horror game that was ever made haha
You are an awesome dude. You are my comfort channel and I’m a huge fan. Before bed kindness for good dreams? CJU. New indie horror game? Cool, I’ll wait for CJU to play it.. I actually HATE being startled, it used to make me angry. But now I can’t help but laugh because you make it so light hearted and fun. You are great at what you do! I know I’m a sentimental random weirdo.. but it’s always all love!! Thank you for all that you do, Chris!

Good story, shame about the flashlight. I feel the maze(?) did add tension and suspense; it would have been good had you been chased all the way by that dummy. Thank you for reading the notes out loud.
"I'd like to read it, but it's so bright!" *Clicks flashlight off." "Now it's so dark! No balance!" You're not the first one to complain and I'll warrant ye'll not be the last. I wonder if these devs EVER playtest their own game on at least 2 other different monitors.
I am so happy to open YT and see a video from you! And its an hour long! Your the best man! Oh man, Now I need to go see all the endings! I really love your game play, It seems that so many people that play horror games just scream and are so damn loud. Just really wish you did all endings on all your games. Your still the best!
This one wasn’t my cup of tea…the storyline was interesting, but I wish we had more….I also hated how bright the flashlight was..lastly, I thought it was too gimmicky..I wish it stuck to one or two things and perfected it, but instead there was so much going on in terms of abilities that you only used once (i.e. hiding, throwing) …even though I didn’t particularly care for this game, you made it enjoyable to watch. You’re my favorite indie horror gamer on TH-cam.
It always baffles me that people will spend all of this time and energy creating a game, but then completely neglect proofreading subtitles - even if they were AI generated, c'mon just take a few hours. And sure, a lot of these developers might not be native English speakers, but if you took the time to get a live english speaking actor for your game, why not pay them an extra $50 to mark up their script with fixes...
I wonder what the process looks like from a developer POV to try to fix the lighting? I enjoyed this even with some of this issues, I really love the concept!
Most likely a simple fix in the code...just dialing the brightness down a bit (which would be the most direct way) But could probably also be done in the program they used to build the maps and lighting and turning it down that way as well. A simple fix both ways regardless
CJU I’ve been watching you for about 3 yrs now. Lols maybe it’s your gamer eyes. But it could be a goon standing in the corner and you stroll right on by with. “Let’s see what else we can find” DUDE HES RIGHT THERE. SCREAM OR SOMETHING.😂😂😂
The daughter Diane definitely reminds me of Zelda from Pet Sematary. I haven’t finished the video yet, but seems she might have been suffering from spinal meningitis
because every time anybody goes to an old abandoned home it always goes right! everything is going to be just fine! those sons a bitches are abandoned for a reason ya know. great video as always Chris!
The dialogue and terrible captioning kills a lot of the mood for me. I don't understand why these people don't have someone double check their grammar or spelling before putting it in a game. It's crazy. Great vid as always Chris.
"...making a sound as if she were choking"? Right. Let me demonstrate, in text, the sound a choking person makes: ........... Yeah, nothing. If someone is choking, their windpipe is blocked. The definition of choking requires absolute silence. That's why you don't give the Heimlich to somebody coughing. They're breathing.
The long black-screen intro and abundance of spelling & grammatical errors made me think this game was going to be low quality garbage. The audio, found footage filter, and atmosphere was surprisingly good, though!
I like these urban exploration games where things turn out bad. But I'd love to see a horror game where it turns out there was nothing ACTUALLY haunted about the place, and it was just a bunch of stuff that could be debunked. Like, by the end, you can debunk all the spookiness and that dictates the video you produce for your vlog or something.
Rule Number 1 of horror: You have to make only bed decision! However we know that this was limiting, so me made an addendum, if you don't want to make bad decision, you can make stupid decision!
This game was a little janky and the odd grammar and spelling quirks were distracting early on. But, despite the gameplay not quite living up to its potential I found it surprisingly scary. I was becoming more and more unnerved as I was watching and notice, toward the end, where Chris mistakes part of the background for a creepy crawly. The hairs go up on the back of your neck. Effective use of sound and environment goes a long way to unnerving the player and, when you start seeing threats where there aren't any it's a good indication that a horror game is doing something right.
This game turned out to be a lot better than I expected it to. Love how it took off halfway thru after a slow burn beginning. 👍🏼😀 It's at this point that my ass would start hauling automatically for self preservation!! 47:03 That "thunk" sound..., huge NOPE! 🫣😱
I’ve seen this video by other YTubers come across my recommended list and I was like “Nope - CJU will play it and THEN I’ll watch”. Woohoo!!!
I do the same! 😂😅
Me too!
What a simp
it is just different tho, so I understand
Same lol I just can't stand other horror gamers now. Lol
Dean here, great gameplay! ❤ Love the feedback and glad you enjoyed the overall game. Keep killing it!
I legit got a headache from the brightness of the reflection the flashlight emits, but the atmosphere was pretty good
It is a good game but yes the flashlight took a lot away from it..but it's an easy fix... regardless great game ☺️
Unless I’m mistaken I think that The Brother killed Diane to put Her out of Her misery at least I think that is correct.@@gstvntt
You were great! Not a lot of indie horror games have realistic voice acting, but Dean here was well done - could really feel his fear!
The comment section is your videos is always so pure, I sometimes come in here to restore my faith in humanity. Such a great community.
ikr!!!! couldn't agree more
Absolutely. It's awesome here

The house asset was used in The Stalked only here there are more rooms upstairs and the side door leads to the kitchen rather than outside.
