I completely agree with you, Chris. As you said, not terrible in the slightest (especially for a game made by a solo dev), but also so, so generic. The main problem is that the twist/reveal is telegraphed way too soon, imo : main character's wife died in an accident, he finds messages like "this isn't real" and "wake up", then that article around the 32min mark saying "woman died in a car accident and husband in a coma" and I thought : "well that's him and this is all a coma dream, the end". Nice detail and interactivity in the house but the game doesn't know how to build tension. It's more like a to-do list that has you rushing around completing tasks with jump scares thrown in.
Lots of detail for a solo-developed game, and good interactivity. Beyond that, it's pretty lackluster. We've seen the storyline before--no surprise there. I mean, ""Layers of Fear 3" has been out for months now and considering how much he liked the previous games it's surprising he hasn't even acknowledged it.
You know, more than a bit disappointed. Despite the mentions of Mothman, it doesn't feel as though that really did anything. It was just another haunted house walking simulator, with instructions and story both a little bit unclear. You can almost see what it *wants* to be, but it doesn't... really get there. Almost makes it worse in some ways for me - I would have loved a Mothman game! But I didn't really get it. Still, sometimes the first step to making something good is making something *not* good first. After all, I *could* sort of see what the dev was going for. If they polish their skills and keep at it, that could lead to something great.
You passed another note just be on he body in the grave in back you turn it was on head stone and yet your follower that joined you did not inform you whatever.
You can tell the developers were heavily influenced by Pineview Drive, the house getting bigger as you go, the lights switch set up/flashlight with batteries, the sound effects, and jumping scares are very reminiscent.
The door in the upstairs bathroom, you had to close it to get into the cupboard behind the door, but when you left the bathroom, the door swung out into the hall!
Thank you for the Video. Number one thing That is very crucial that this game needs fixing is the brightness of the Lamp.. Like my eyes hurt and it is not even half of the video..Couldnt see much ogf the game coz of it. Looks interesting though. Hope the Dev will keep working on it and polish it up.. GG
Why do game devs still think in 2023 that flashlights that require batteries is a good thing? Just stop doing that already. Also, that house layout looks awfully familiar. Can't recall at the moment in which game I saw that house before.
It's realistic , especially if you have a cheap flashlight. But yeah , I always applaud devs that think out side the box and either have other options besides flashlight and / or long lasting batteries , alternative light sources , etc.
@@uros.u.novakovicI'm talking about them needing batteries in the 1st place not how often they need to be changed but cheap / bad ones do seem to need new batteries a lot. Most indie games have crappy FL ( imo because other devs are dumb and think dark = scary and having to worry about crappy FL helps with suspense but ...no , it just annoys / frustrates players , they are kind of right but wrong at the same time about dark = scary...know what I mean? And have you never had a cheap FL? Genuinely curious , not trying to argue. )
Your comment was about batteries in general, not how long this games takes before they burn out. So yes, batteries are realistic and should stay. @@uros.u.novakovic
The most amusing thing in game is the protagonist who know that a door is "locked from the other side". I know it's a game mechanic, but, How can you possibly know that!
Agree with the final sentiment, game is very average, mid. There's elements of survival horror, RE sort, the puzzles were fine but I can't really pin why the flashlight mechanic is there. It's built up then suddenly taken away near the end for no real reason other than making it a bit harder. There's an understanding what the genre has but the execution is lacking. Ai VA didn't help there was emotion when it was needed. Mothman was the draw and it was just kinda...there, basic lore given but could've been replaced with any sort of spooky creature like the grim reaper or something.
Could they have picked anything more docile and harmless than a moth? And since when do they have talons?! At least if it'd been a brown tail, it might have made the main character itchy....?
Yes . This is a standard size home in the country. I loved everything about it . Good memories unfolded. The ceilings were too low . And of course Chis and his Awesome commentary And sence of humor makes it all good.
Having great visuals means nothing if you have poor writing. It's such a shame this game didn't have a better script or it could've been quite good. Also, I seem to recall that statistically, a chair falls on someone every 8(?) minutes or so. This seems to just about match the frequency of chairs falling in the game. Coincidence?
I think you were supposed to put the ring on that hand popping out of the mirror in the basement... you missed a journal page in the graveyard, might have been a clue...
The word that comes to mind for this game is cliche.... To me the voice "acting" was a big problem, really hard to get into a story with generic voice acting.. however the commentary was excellent as always, Chris can make any game enjoyable. thanks for the entertainment Chris ♥️
Well, that was underwhelming. There are SO MANY things I could say but no-one wants to read a rant. But I will just point out that the game keeps mentioning claw marks and feathers. Since when have moths had either claws or feathers?

Thanks for sharing your are the best!
You passed another note just be on he body in the grave in back you turn it was on head stone and yet your follower that joined you did not inform you whatever.
sightings of the mothman are controversal. is bringing disaster,,,or warning of something bad to come?
GG
Urgh the AI voice is like nails down a chalkboard
You youngings dont know how fresh uploads work?
Why do game devs still think in 2023 that flashlights that require batteries is a good thing? Just stop doing that already.
Also, that house layout looks awfully familiar. Can't recall at the moment in which game I saw that house before.
It's realistic , especially if you have a cheap flashlight. But yeah , I always applaud devs that think out side the box and either have other options besides flashlight and / or long lasting batteries , alternative light sources , etc.
@@kalezuki9231 realistic? What flashlight requires battery swap every 30 seconds?
@@uros.u.novakovicI'm talking about them needing batteries in the 1st place not how often they need to be changed but cheap / bad ones do seem to need new batteries a lot. Most indie games have crappy FL ( imo because other devs are dumb and think dark = scary and having to worry about crappy FL helps with suspense but ...no , it just annoys / frustrates players , they are kind of right but wrong at the same time about dark = scary...know what I mean? And have you never had a cheap FL? Genuinely curious , not trying to argue. )
I've seen that house in other games.
Your comment was about batteries in general, not how long this games takes before they burn out. So yes, batteries are realistic and should stay. @@uros.u.novakovic
21:51, that's a Boo from Super Mario 64!
55:10, that's the year i was born LOL
Love your videos ❤
The wedding ring could’ve probably gone on the hand coming out of the mirror in the basement!!!
Anyone having sound issues, closing the video, and just reopening it seemed to work for me.
Audio is missing? Noooo!!!!
Ey the games actually pretty good!!
There should be an achievement of opening every damn drawer and cupboard in the house.
23:15 Well I wanted to be a Paladin!
Video isnt allowing HD. Only allows 360p. On PC.
UPDATE: HD is working now.
my door jams are always connected to my electric. every time i blow a fuse, doors lock and cease for function from "this side" right Chris? 😉
Alan Wake vibes at the beginning there
Could they have picked anything more docile and harmless than a moth? And since when do they have talons?! At least if it'd been a brown tail, it might have made the main character itchy....?
Enjoyable playthrough.
Mothman is friend. Indrid Cold would never harm us.
A little confusing, but not bad of a game good job 👍
Is there no sound or is something wrong w my phone😮
It's something with the TH-cam app. Chromecast works fine but I can't hear it on my phone.
I upped the quality to 1050 and now it works yeeey
@@justinspeck1186thanks it's working now❤
Your phone
@@mahmoudalmarzooqi9396oh wait you fixed it yay!!
I think the wedding ring was supposed to go on your wife’s hand in the mirror of the basement!
my daughter has a pet plank as well.
I cant stop it...10 Batterie man...L.O.L
Maybe the wedding ring can be placed on the hand coming out of the mirror in the second basement, leading to the bad ending (dying in coma)?
Have you covered any skinwalker games Chris ??
Hi Chris 👋👋❤❤😊
Damn where's the audio?😏
I have audio but only 360p :/
*_To the Devs_*:
Loved this! Also liked the inclusion of the Bible Verses and how they were used. Hope you make some more content!
That’s like the Redrose house from Stephen King. My word how big is that dang house? Lol
Like Sanitarium. Everything represented a struggle for life.
I think you were supposed to put the ring on that hand popping out of the mirror in the basement... you missed a journal page in the graveyard, might have been a clue...
Yeah, as a voice actor, the AI Alan Wake voice is an immediate red flag, big no no for me 😡
I like a game from urban legend monthman right chris😊😊😊😅
How did the protagonist prepare spaghettis with meatballs when there's no cooking facility in the shack?
Maybe the ring could have gone on the hand in the basement?
00:54 The little angel statue has move its hands. Did it mean something?
Ola! ❤❤❤❤❤
The word that comes to mind for this game is cliche.... To me the voice "acting" was a big problem, really hard to get into a story with generic voice acting.. however the commentary was excellent as always, Chris can make any game enjoyable. thanks for the entertainment Chris ♥️
Had to tell you man... Penumbra: Prisoner of Fate Chapter 1 is officially out, and I CAN NOT WAIT for you to play it!
Well, that was underwhelming. There are SO MANY things I could say but no-one wants to read a rant. But I will just point out that the game keeps mentioning claw marks and feathers. Since when have moths had either claws or feathers?
Missed a note at the well I think.
