My wife and I just came back from visiting there, we left very impressed. We drove and walked around quite a bit, checked out the main downtown, West Clay, went to Meijer (for some light shopping but also mainly to see what the locals were like), walked a bit of the Monon trail, and drove around some of the various residential areas. Impressions: great roads, those turnabouts are awesome, nicely landscaped everywhere, lots of green space, no trash (double meaning) in sight, and lots of fit people taking advantage of all the walking/bike paths. We're from the Chicago area, there's lots of nice burbs around here too (and we live in one of them), but I will say that Carmel definitely deserves the national praise, they got the suburban living right!
@@GPinAtlantaIN Well hey, I'm not looking to discuss a perfect stranger's finances, but since you're volunteering...the term "middle class" is a wide net, $40k-130, with national average being around $64k. Per what you're describing, you're at around $45k (assuming a 40 hr work week, paid 3x federal min wage). So yeh, with that, swinging a $400k home mortgage would be tough. No disrespect intended, just chatting here.
This is great, i only still miss the litle supermarkets, so that people dont have to leave town to do their grocery's, The mayor did a very good job, but he have to made room for little grocery shops. It's nice to see people and kids enjoy their freedom. greetings from the Netherlands.
@@DiscoveringCentralIndiana I did, but i still miss supermarkets like in my country. So you can buy your grosseries in town with the bicycle. Good Luck
@@helenooft9664 That thought struck me while we were walking the Monon trail, it would be cool if they had a small grocery store right off the trail. But then looking at google maps, Kroger is a 2 minute bike ride off the trail.
I just came across your channel....I have been thinking about moving from Maryland to Indiana and Carmel has been on my list of places to move......I am a simple man ,I just want to work and relax...Great video..

Thanks for watching. I’m glad you and your wife enjoyed visiting Carmel. It’s one of my favorite places here in Indiana.

Very cool! Possibly do video on Brownsburg, Indiana?
Thanks for watching. Absolutely, that video is in the works!

I'm so excited to move here! Especially because of the high school and the library!
Thanks for watching! Carmel is a great place to live. I think you’ll really enjoy it. It has a lot to offer.

Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed the video. Carmel is a great place to live and has something for everyone!
I so delighted after watching this video. 😘👋🇵🇭
Thanks for watching. Glad you liked the video!
I grew up there, moved from there 60 years ago. There’s hardly anything I recognize there now. Totally changed.
Carmel is a great diverse safe area to live in the Hamilton County area.
Too bad it's so close to Indianapolis.
It is still a gloryfied Suburbs.
Thanks for watching! Yeah, it’s still a suburb, but it also has a lot to offer.
It’s nice but it’s kind of soulless. Upscale and commercially prosperous. Business oriented. Sidewalks roll up at 6 p.m. 😮
Its also 85% white
yeah I prefer fishers carmel too upscale for me fishers is almost just as nice but seems more welcoming to black folks
That's who made it so nice.
Any nationality is completely free to purchase a home or business in Carmel. Welcome to Indiana.
Eh, i prefer to use country of ancestry rather than grouping people into black or white boxes. They’re mostly german.
Carmel's pretty pretentious. Overly planned. A lot of uniformity. It feels stiff and un-natural.
Thanks for watching. I get what you’re saying. Carmel definitely doesn't appeal to everyone.
