  • Four panels in one project?! You bet! I wanted to try SOOO many things here - so I did!!! How fun would this look with a battery-operated candle or some twinkle fairy lights?
    Glass used? All sorts, some unmarked scrap. Just be creative and choose your own!

    Love, love, love this. Particularly the eyebrows 😂. I so don’t mine you featuring my murrine with other, just so grateful you feature mine at all! Thank you for all your inspirational ideas and all you do for the glass community.

    After freezing, try holding the mold FACE UP and stretching the mold, little by little around the edges,pulling the mold away from the 'bones'. THat way you can see where it's kind of hanging up. Once it's free pretty much all the way around, , you can usually lift them out cleanly.
    (Pressing from the back is putting pressure right in the middle of the delicate pieces. which is really uneven pressure)
    These molds look a little thick and stiff, more than the silicone ones I'm using. So that could be the issue.

      Yes I have found that the less stiff the molds the better.

      I've actually trimmed some of the silicone molds that had slight overhangs.

    I’ve heard that putting a tiny bit of stringer in long FNF molds can help with fragility of de-molding. Fun video!

    Haven't tried this yet, but what if the mold was sprayed with a releasing agent such as silicone? It would burn off in the kiln.

    • @JamaisonSchuler
      @JamaisonSchuler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, the mold itself seems like silicone so not sure that makes much of a difference. It really was less about sticking and more about the fragility of the piece. I believe?

    Before fusing you can return the "bones" to the powder. Somethings are just too darn small!!

    Awesome! I like what you've created! I have to try your firing schedule. Every time I try firing a single piece of glass with adding other small glass pieces it breaks. Hopefully this will work for my kiln as well.

    What would you sell that for with so much detail?

    • @JamaisonSchuler
      @JamaisonSchuler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally depends on your market and audience. For me, I’m going to price it very low because I don’t want to hang on to it and I like to surprise my customers with some very affordable pieces every now and then. If it price too high, it will just gather dust. Sometimes I make things just to prove that I can. 😉

    As always, beautiful work! I personally don't see why you couldn't use other peoples supllies? It helps those companies show their product and potentially new customers. Now, quick questioons; Once the panel were fused, could you have copper foiled the panel and solder them together? Just wondering.

    • @JamaisonSchuler
      @JamaisonSchuler  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely - I think that would have been a great solution. However, I sold off all my stained glass supplies a few years ago.

    Thank you Jamaican for the way you explain things. I am brand new to glass fusing and have watched a ton of videos. I love, love yours. You explain things to where anyone can understand them, and you are so humble. I am also in Texas (Weatherford) and am finding it hard to find any suppliers near me. Think I will have travel to Lewisville or do online. Any way thank you for taking the time to do these videos, God bless you.

    Unmold directly to your kiln shelf. They have a tendency to dry out if left in the freezer too long. Putting them in an enclosed container helps that problem.

    I love that you used various artists murrine, I agree with you. They are all beautiful and there is room for all of them. I do have a question, did you make the catcher for the mosaic nipper or did you buy it? I’d love to know more about it.

    Make a cut with an exacto knife at each end of the small bone before putting in the powder or slurry (it seals enough even with the liquid). Gives a little extra flex of the silicone to try to help getting it out whole.
    Thanks for a fun video!

    How do you cut up the pieces from Lori (pumpkins/glow in the dark ghosts/etc). Need a way to thin cut (around 20:21 into the video). Thank you! Kalen

    If you gently pull the edges of the mold away from each bone before trying to get the bones out you might have better luck. I also have less bubbles and less time handling glass powder by mixing a slurry first. Just lightly tap each mold after filling with slurry. Or gently drop each filled mold to get bubbles out. Slurry should have a shine on top before putting in freezer. You can get better details if you use a slurry instead of putting powder in molds dry. Love your videos. Thank you.

    Any undercut in your molds will complicate life for F&F in addition to very thin casts as you've seen. I'm glad the larger ones came out ok.

    I have always had a problem with very small thin pieces when doing freeze and fuse. Thanks for posting this gave me a lot of ideas I am doing a Halloween themed small lantern with my neighbor’s kiddos age 5 and 7. Every vender we use offers something different. I truly haven’t found people making the same kind of murrini or water jet cuts. I so appreciate all the vendors you turn us on to.

    Each one of these panels is so special. It almost seems like a waste to use them all on one piece. After watching this, if I did something similar, I think I would make four panels of the same scenario, but pare down three of them. That would be me assuming that only one side will be featured. Just thinking of ways to conserve all the goodies. Thanks so much for all your great ideas! Love them all!
