These videos are super old, so some of the information is a bit outdated or incorrect, also the quality and overall presentation is quite lacking compared to his newer stuff. If you've come this far, you owe it to yourself to check out his remastered "Prepare to Cry" series for DS1, i promise you'll be blown away. The new ones do feature information and content from DS3, so if you want to avoid spoilers you could always wait until you finish 3 and then circle back. It is undeniably worth it, and i think i speak for all of us when i say i would love to see your reaction to them ❤

Thank you for the advice! I’ll definitely watch the updated version (remastered prepare to cry). Part of the reason I chose to watch this initially was because I was interested to see the theories VaatiVidya would come up with without the knowledge of the sequels (DS2 & DS3).
Once I play DS2 I’ll be watching all of his lore videos about the Dark Souls Trilogy as a whole!

5:10 Sieglinde is the MOST BADASS character in Dark Souls...Why?...because she ISN'T undead...she made it to and all over Lordran without dying once...(Siegmeyer mentions it when you tell him that you've met his daughter)...
1:23:00 Not to give any spoilers, but the equivalent of the "Crestfallen Kight" hint guy in Firelink shrine, in Dark Souls 2 (Whom you can access from the start of the game) directly states, "The curse is traceable to the [Dark] soul of humanity...Do you see what that means?...To walk this very earth, that is the curse right there." basically implying that life and death (or disparity as DS1 puts it) is the actual curse and we would be better off in a world of never-changing gray...but the dialog is coming from a human who has lost everything, so is it a case of "The grass is always greener on the other side" or is it some kind of philosophical truth that we have no "Free will"?...Heh heh heh...and one other DS2 character (Around mid-game) also mentions the concept, Straid of Olaphis (Sounds like a modified Oolacile, like Drangleic is a modification of Lordran, and he sells sorceries)...he says after being petrified for hundreds of years, referencing that many kingdoms have risen and fallen upon the land that he states, "It is all a curse."

Sieglinde is an absolute goated character! I enjoyed meeting her during my playthrough of DS1. That fact that she never died once is an insane feat.
I’m currently playing through Dark Souls 2 rn and I have met Straid. I loved how he explained that countless kingdoms have come and gone while he was petrified in stone! It adds to the theme of dark souls being about death and rebirth, a constant cycle.

​@eBabe Thanks for the fav and like, sweet that you're going into DS2, so I'll just say that DS1, 2, and 3 are different takes on the same theme...DS1 is from a past POV, DS2 is from a present POV, and DS3 is from a future POV...not canon ideas, just my two cents...when you get to the DLC and last bosses of DS3, it'll all come together...but Aldia's last monologue during the "Walk away" ending of DS2 actually made me think abut the nature of truth, right, and wrong...as long as you have the Scholar of the First Sin edition (Which begs the question, what is the first sin? Aldia actually tells you if you pick up on it), just do the DS1 walk-away ending instead of walking into the kiln...
But I may have an irrational love of Dark Souls 2 (Since some game mechanics are pretty jank)...I've got over 1000 hours in the game and still haven't maxed a character or gotten 100% items...namely because DS2 has both the most difficult item requirements for 100% and the most significantly changed NG+...Red phantoms appear everywhere, big bosses are harder and drop their souls from DS1, and some enemies get new attacks...and the two most elusive rings require beating the game without dying and beating the game without resting at a bonfire...
