My comment disappeared, so I'll write again. You can start DLC whenever you want. The game will not take you into NG+ after the last boss. There is actually use for the souls of giants. Don't eat any more of them. You should also check the ladders in Majula.

At the end of the next area, you'll get an item that a large being gives you which allows you to progress through the DLC you were working on previously. Look around the elevators in brumes tower and have the crown on, you might find something.

Good progress on this DLC, but unfortunately you can not complete, before getting a key item from the main story(recommend going back to that for now). But first I would advise, to go back to everyone's favorite Black Gulch and lighting the last primal bonfire. There are also, very important secrets to be found in that location. Have fun there!

Anyways, iirc this boss was the hardest statistically that most players gave up on. We scrubby mages would hang out and help them. Good job though you got this Gabe 😂

Good job beating Fume Knight!! As it was pointed out weapons in this game have "sweet spots" and that is why you do more damage sometimes. You should check your rings, I think you have a ring that boosts hp, stamina and equip load. God bless you.

Yeah, durability is such BS in this game, repair powder is elusive, expensive, and you can only get ONE repair sorcery per playthrough (That only has two casts and doesn't even restore full durability) so I like to have at least 2 or 3 weapons I like on hand to switch to...a good reason to use the item box, makes it easier to find what you want during combat if you need to switch equipment... 16:20 LOL, I mention the Roaring halberd thing and you keep hitting the ceiling...did you notice with that Gwyn imposter, you killed him in 3 hits because you nailed him all three times with the blade...nice work... 20:45 I hate that shit, you get the backstab, but don't get the backstab (AFAIK it's just a glitch when the enemy model can't move into position for the animation, usually because another enemy is blocking them)...and yeah, you are actually in a Co-op area (Iron Passage), in the place with the graves in the beginning when you first drop from the bonfire, if you are human there should be two summonable NPC's...there is one co-op area in each DLC (So don't feel bad about summoning)...and they are widely considered the worst parts of DS2...but keep at it! Good on you good ser for your perseverance, just remember the blade damage thing, so give yourself a bit more space when you spin-to-win, one good thing about the Roaring Halberd is it has basic vertical and horizontal strikes, so you never get stuck hitting walls like many weapons, I don't recall, but have you tried using it with a shield up? Some spears can be wielded while your shield is raised (Though at a dmg. and stamina regen. penalty)...there is actually a spear in Brume tower that doubles as a catalyst...but it only casts sorceries and hexes =-(

Well, if you want to go super-cheese, you could do a pure caster build, of which hexes are the cheesiest, followed by sorceries, then miracles...but my favorite build would be what D&D terms a Mage-Knight or Spell-Sword...you basically do a "Quality" (Str+Dex) build and put just enough points into Faith and Int. that you can use the basic healing and weapon buffing spells...so you can still rock a fast or heavy weapon and wear decently heavy armor (There are even weapons/shields that double as catalysts) so you get the best of both worlds or jack-of-all-trades build you can tweak as you like...you could even drop either Str. or Dex. and get your ADP higher for the I-frames or equip load for heavier armor...though weapon buffing benefits more from fast weapons as it is a flat boost on a per hit basis... 1:38:30 That is what the game calls "Counter-attacks" if you hit the enemy during it's attack animation (The Leo ring buffed them in DS1 IIRC)...but there is also a differential damage system on many weapons, especially polearm types, if you are too close, you get a damage penalty for hitting with the pole, you need to connect with the blade for full damage...

3:55 If you like halberd or spear weapons, did you find Santier's spear in The Doors of Pharros? (Behind the door in the first room before the first bonfire with the lockstone faces on the left, right, and floor (Underwater) of the door on the right wall (You only need to open the one on the floor underwater)? If you check it, that weapon is special, someone impaled it upon a statue and the stone head is still attached...it acts like a great hammer if you keep the stone head on it, but if you deplete it's durability, the stone head breaks and it gets a halberd moveset and infinite durability (There's actually one more crazy spear that can cast sorceries in the DLC)...I just love little tidbits like this in the series... 1:09:05 Rolling is weird in DS2, ADP and by extension Agility exend your I-frames, but your equipment load makes your roll faster and farther...meaning high equip % also means shorter roll (Even though the animation is the same), thus the less distance a given I-Frame will cover...thus a lower equip load and high Agility is key for roll-dodging...

5:10 Sieglinde is the MOST BADASS character in Dark Souls...Why?...because she ISN'T undead...she made it to and all over Lordran without dying once...(Siegmeyer mentions it when you tell him that you've met his daughter)... 1:23:00 Not to give any spoilers, but the equivalent of the "Crestfallen Kight" hint guy in Firelink shrine, in Dark Souls 2 (Whom you can access from the start of the game) directly states, "The curse is traceable to the [Dark] soul of humanity...Do you see what that means?...To walk this very earth, that is the curse right there." basically implying that life and death (or disparity as DS1 puts it) is the actual curse and we would be better off in a world of never-changing gray...but the dialog is coming from a human who has lost everything, so is it a case of "The grass is always greener on the other side" or is it some kind of philosophical truth that we have no "Free will"?...Heh heh heh...and one other DS2 character (Around mid-game) also mentions the concept, Straid of Olaphis (Sounds like a modified Oolacile, like Drangleic is a modification of Lordran, and he sells sorceries)...he says after being petrified for hundreds of years, referencing that many kingdoms have risen and fallen upon the land that he states, "It is all a curse."

You know the dlcs , including brume tower, were hard as meant for players who had beaten vanilla ds2 etc. Build thoughts... I'd like it if you perservered, but if you're not having fun then go 40 strength and get the great club or big eff off great sword (it's name escapes me just now). You could look at the two hander zweihander, great running attack that launches enemies or invaders into the air iirc. Never gets old, Keep trying ashen one
