I love the Washington quarter but it doesn't love me. Have never found a silver one yet after decades of not even searching for them. It goes without saying, the diamonds are right in front of your face and you're oblivious until you start searching for them. Then you can't find any. And with that said... I’ve been searching rolls of pennies wheat pennies for years. When I was younger I used to find 20+ wheat pennies a box. Love to see coin roll hunting is still a thing. Also, I love your channel!
Looked through some old coins passed down from my father Saturday. About 8-10 silver quarters the oldest was 1944. Found two half dollars from 1893 some fair or expo on it. A lot of wheat pennies. A couple old pennies (large size) from the late 1800's.
A bit of coin lore for you all. If you find a coin with nail polish on it, typically red, it was a quarter (nickel /dime) used by a restaurant or such to put into the juke box. The paint identified it as belonging to the establishment, and was returned to a special box of coins to feed the juke box to make the dining more pleasant. The paint insured that it was not counted in the coin take for that machine. It was common in my area to find them back in the 60's.
Congrats on finding silver, we found silver on Sunday after 10 boxes. Man that 1968 looked like stronger doubling than some of the examples in the Strike it Rich book.
With my record with quarters, I probably have averaged one silver quarter every 50 boxes and I have been getting about one $500 box of quarters once a week since the year 2000 at my workplace where we have pool tables and lots of pinball machines. But with that said, I'm going to buy $100 bucks face in Washington junk silver quarters next time I hit up my lcs. Love your vids Rob!

ever thought of rerolling when you're searching the next box? the sound might get annoying but throwing in a handful or two in the machine before you move to the next roll sounds time efficient
I have no idea what any of this means but I run a cashier and I'm always picking out coins I find interesting and i put them in a jar i have at home. I just looked through them and I have 7 quarters with a W on them. Where can I look up if they're collectible? They're all basically spotless
I searched a box of penny's that was in a box with the holes in it and found 36 wheat pennies the oldest was 1917 for some reason these kind of boxes always have more finds then the other type but we don't see kind here in mo that often!

Daggone Rob. I don't know how you get those boxes open with just one hand. At my age and my arthritis it takes me nothing short of a Jackhammer, two putty knives and a crowbar to get the darn things open and that's just penny boxes....... then I'm pooped out. LOL!!!!!

The vids are great. Im from canada and I seem to have a lot better luck with silver finds in quarters here. Im not really in the loop with American coins, can someone explain what makes the W so special to find?
They only minted 2M of each design which is significantly less than the other mints. Plus, West Point Mints generally only mints collector coins of sets and thus is the first year they made regular strikes available for the public (or general circulation).

Do you ever think that you have looked at the same coin twice? Just a thought since you hunt through so many coins. Marking a quarter a certain way so you know it's yours and seeing how long it takes to come back to you might be interesting.

It's gotta be frustrating (and time consuming) to search 14,000 quarters and find only one silver, one "W," and one minor DDR. But I guess it beats searching 14,000 quarters and finding nothing!
Here's the LONG answer: A true doubled die is a variety in that it is created during the die making process. As a result, the doubling will appear on every coin struck from that die. If the hub or die shifted at all during the striking process, the finished die would feature two distinct impressions with separation between them. The design, letters and digits will be doubled. On the other hand, there is mechanical doubling. This type of doubling, which is also known as strike, ejection, shelf or shift doubling, is not the result of the design on the die being doubled. Rather, this type of doubling occurs when the die strikes a planchet. If the die is not properly seated, it can move slightly or bounce during the moment of striking, creating a flat, shelf-like doubling. This effect will be different on all coins struck, so it is technically not a variety, but rather more of a striking error.
I just found a w quarter. Its a san Antonio mission. Its not pristine but its a W. I went to my local wells Fargo asked if they can give me 50 dollars of bank rolled quarters and they gave me only 20 bucks they said Because i wasnt a customer they can only give me 20 bucks. I was good with it. Opened it up at my house and i was surprised that out of 80 quarters only 4 where 2019 and 1 was a W

I think my bank changed because they used to come taped but now they are glued and uncirculated.

W mint mark on 2019 quarters. minted in the West Point MInt. Low mintage's and sell for a good premium.
That was a hard road to search thru. Still a silver so yay!
