Did I hear the word "Negro"? I had to explain to a friend that back then, that wasn't considered a bad word. My family and I always watched Carol Burnett, and we LOVED Flip Wilson and never missed his show either. I believe he was the first black man to have his own prime-time show. So many "firsts" back in those days when they should have happened long before. We also loved Mission Impossible! But, Carol Burnett will always be special to our family because she brought so much joy and laughter. Loved her in Annie too! She is a national treasure.
Nostalgia. It's funny how watching Carol Burnett, brings back fond memories of sitting in front of the T.V. and family gathered around. My dad had such a robust laugh and I can still hear his laugher right now!! We all enjoyed to watch the Flip Wilson show too! Thanks for sharing :)

I grew up watching the Carol Burnett Show & The Flip Wilson show. These shows are rare, they don’t make them like this anymore. I still watch the Carol Burnett Show on the station MeTV and I’ve noticed that they don’t play the full episodes. But that’s ok, I’ll settle for what they do show🙂

Tim Conway tells a story about elephants having sex, to which Vicky Laurence drops an obscenity, and they all collapse into laughter, along with the audience. At the same time as this show, one of the most popular, if not the most popular, comedy albums was George Carlin's "7 Dirty Words," which is filled with swearing, and people loved it. There is nothing innocent about this comedy, the only reason they weren't swearing on TV here is because the censors wouldn't let them. You're living in a fantasy world where "the past was better and the present is awful." No. The past was the past, and the present is the present.
I adored her brand of comedy. She had such a great ensemble..I really loved Harvey Corman..he would get tickled about something and try to keep a straight face, sometimes he would turn his head but you could see his shoulders moving, as he struggled to contain his laughter. They must have had great times during rehearsals. I miss these type of variety shows, and Flip Wilson was underrated, he created some great characters on his show, I miss Flip Wilson.
They kept making these shows, and making these shows, and making these shows for years and years and years. I never got tired of Carol Burnett, Lyle Wagner, Vicki Lawrence, Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, and especially FLIP WILSON! Flip was the absolute best!
I used to love The Carol Burnett Show. We all watched it. Television was different back then, so was entertainment and music. The variety show concept was very entertaining. It was a different era. One that I much prefer.
Carol took a real chance on her since she had just graduated from high school and wrote a fan letter to Carol but had no real acting experience, but her talent grew exponentially on the show. She mentored under Carol and Harvey Korman. If you watch the shows chronologically you can see her growth.
I wish, I could live in LA, California at that time. Maybe in the summer. My Aunt said back then, you could party, sit and talk, hangout with stars in Hollywood. Todays entertainers not so much.
I was born in 1961 and watched Carol regularly on Saturday nights. I just discovered the tail end of the Mission Impossible sketch and have watched it like 15-20 times now. HILARIOUS!!
When i was a teen we love to watch every episod...my sister and my parents all together in my parents bedroom. We live in Panamá in the old good years of the 70. I miss thous days so muche💌
Most people wouldn't know this now but in the first skit they are making fun of the commercials at the time. This brings back memories. People spent evenings in those days watching shows like this with their families.The word gay meant happy. Everything was so much more innocent.

I was driving my brand new 1975 corvette on the San Bernardino free way LA, heading home i see a beautiful Rolls Royce cruising next to me checking out my car it was Flip Wilson I play cool till saw him going north on Rosemead blv I started waiving by big time watching him smiling at me.Heading north I would say he was going to Santa Anita Race track Saturday afternoon seems like a really cool guy 😎
