Hi, i cant help but noticing that your “the blacksmith” edition is different from the others. Thank you so much for sharing. But would you be so kind to tell me which year or edition is this “the blacksmith” you have? I would like to buy it if its in one of the buster keaton short movie collection box set.

You are absolutely right, but, unfortunately, it is impossible to buy "The Blacksmith" exactly in this version. As you may know, for a long time "The Blacksmith" was represented by a prerelease version of 1921, which began with the poem "The Village Blacksmith" by Longfellow. In 2016, BluRay was released with the final version of the film (1922), recently discovered in Europe. In this version scenes with a soiled horse were replaced with chase scenes, but the introduction with Longfellow's verses was missing, perhaps because "The Village Blacksmith" familiar to every American schoolboy wasn't familiar to the European audience. However, according to the American press-reviews of 1922, the American final release of "The Blacksmith" had this intro, as it was with the pre-release version. So we took the liberty to combine the versions and, as we hope, restore the film to the way Keaton released it.

So i ordered the BUSTER KEATON MASTER OF CINEMA box set (the 2nd link you gave).. now im so excited for the box set to arrive.. it said that is includes a booklet too. @@busterkeatonvk oooh... how i cant wait till the box set arrived. by the way, in instagram there was this picture of buster as an AMERICAN GANGSTER. so the owner of the post told me its from a french movie. a very great french movie, staring buster keaton.
i just watched it just now. and would like to share it to you. the movie is called LES ROI DES CHAMP ELYSEES 1934 (its french, but watching it in youtube, you get to change the subtitle (cc) into english or any other language you like) . its SOOOO GOOD.!!!! and buster smiled at the end of the movie!! (so romantic!)

@@busterkeatonvk Thanks for posting this version. I was just reading that there were different versions and I wondered what alternate scenes there were. I like the inclusion of the chase scenes and more interaction with the love interest. It seemed like this one filled some gaps from the other version I watched. But I also appreciate the joke connecting messing up a beautiful white horse as well as messing up a beautiful white car. Though it was painful to see such beautiful things get ruined. lol
