Sketchup is extremely powerful for architecture, it's also conveniently really good at organic modelling. It's obviously not as good at organic modelling as programs like blender, not even close, however it's an amazing program if you are an architect, it is the program to use. Once you find all the useful plugins out there and create your own system, which can be a really challenging thing to do, you will most likely love sketchup and want to use sketchup and layout more than any other program if you are in the architecture industry. There are a number of great books and courses online like for instance the sketchupaustralia courses, or the sketchup.com sketchup campus courses are really cool and those ones are free. Good luck and give it a real look if you are in the architecture industry.
