    Beautiful Station, nice video guys... Talked with you a few times from my QTH in Florida .. of course always 59 and very clean audio.. best to your group in all your DX ventures... K4DSB btw ..feels good to see you using so many Pro III .. my choice as well.

    Great Station guys. No wonder you picked out my poor signal here in Dawesville WA. Running 100w into a G5RV sloping down to the back yard in a V. You were the only contact in 1 hour of working as I set up the temporary antenna. I was probably your last contact on 40M for the IOTA contest. Thank you for your patience with my signal to get the call. I hope you did well. 73 VK6SMK.

    Absolutely impressive! I used to operate out there several years ago. It has changed alot since I was there, but it looks awesome. George probably doesn't remember me as I haven't had any contact with him in 15-20 years. I have not been active on the bands at all - really miss it. Good luck to all and 73's

    I was glad to QSO you today. My 5 watts and dipole from France. But yikes, with that antenna farm I am less impressed with myself. You could have heard me if I was five miles underground

    Contesting is nice... several times a year from a fixed location. Nice thing about the hobby of amateur radio is how people hike to mountain tops, go to islands, or work out of their homes with simple stations and work the world... every day. Not tied to antenna farms and bays of radio gear. I'm sure you guys enjoy the contests, but since the early days of radio, contests have always come with mixed reviews. Race cars run once and a while, compared with classy cars run every day...73 de NW7US

    Can you tell me what software it was running on the pc showing the grey line map? I know there is various software which shows the same representation but that one looked very distinctive.
    I also prefer the challenge of portable type work vs a big gun station but I still appreciate the work which must have gone into setting it up.
    If someone offered you all that gear, you'd jump at the chance.
    cheers VK2MRX

    @AudiophileTubes I worked my first 300+ countries with 100 watts and wires at 20ft (wkd 8BDXCC also) from the US and from Europe. I know the feeling. But like you said you REALLY need to have this kind of station if you want to be a top M/M contest station...

  • @AudiophileTubes
    @AudiophileTubes 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @wb6rrk To each his own. Contesting is a GREAT way to bring up the DXCC total worked amount. I don't care about points or winning.

    Wow! Nice if you have the real estate..hi. I've worked 9420 qso's since 1988 and just short of 5 band DXCC. UK pwr out is only 400 watts. Most were done with 100 watts and wire dipole's
    But it would be real nice to play in this shack!! Good luck and see you boys on the bands..you have a nice contest station, congrats.

    A lot of sour grapes and green eye monsters posting. I admit I could never afford a setup half this impressive, but that doesn't mean I don't admire the heck out of it. It would be a blast to operate a contest there. I love RTTY and what a signal I could put out in the WPX or CQWW.
    Great work and best of luck.

    @ku4gw I absolutely agree KU4GW! Strictly for winning radiosport contests though, you need this much 'firepower'. For working honor roll DXCC, I have no respect for someone having achieved this with 1K and a google-element antenna. I respect the Ham who has done it with just 100W and simple antennas. Now THAT is real operator talent!

      +w0mm Furthermore, the large contests that fill the band are hardly every weekend. There are only a few per year. I have been a ham for 28 years and I have seen the bands just getting more and more quiet. The contests do a good job of bringing things to life.

    Beyond awesome station, BUT there is NO challenge in working DX. I'd be bored, frankly. Try working 250 DXCC entities running 100 watts 'barefoot' and simple wires, verticals, or a spider beam! I have a thousand times more respect for the op that has achieved DX this way. That said, as a 'contest station', you NEED this kind of 'firepower' to win!

    Well, I had high hopes when I came here from your QRZ page. Unfortunately between the fuzzy, low resolution, video and the jumpy camera, and no audio telling me what I am looking at, very disappointing.

    • @w0mm
      @w0mm  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't have an HD camera 6 years ago so don't expect any HD resolution. As a matter of fact I had not even planned on creating a video but out of boredom one evening I decided to create this fuzzy low resolution jumpy voiceless video. I could also add that I'm also very disappointed with your W6CAW page that looks like a website from the 90s with a bunch of links...yawnnnnnn!!!
