Yeah i agree, back then it wasn't about completing a set or getting a whole booster box for that matter, those two ideas never occured to me. It was getting a few packs every once in a while when i went to walmart with my parents to buy groceries. I was lucky enough to pull the big 3 from 3 base set booster packs during a walmart trip with my dad and brother. Best pokemon memory i ever experienced.💯☝🏼
The only reason I hate rainbows is because they delete the background art. They could probably make them better if they just kept the original background art and made the character and border rainbow. Like how the gold cards still have other colors.

I agree with both your opinions when it comes to collecting sets. When I was younger i opened mainly base set. (If only all my collections weren't given away) and remember trying to complete the set in my binder. Jungle and Fossil as well. So I do feel there is something to being able to open the majority of a set you're trying to complete. That being said, I also agree with you Rattle that trading and singles are necessary for completing sets. As well, I don't think opening 2 boxes to complete a set would be good however I do feel there's a happy medium or at least some trimming of fat that would definitely help make each set not just easier to complete but also help to improve the set's identity. Shouldn't be 2 boxes but also shouldn't be the crazy amount it is currently. Im not sure if this will ever change as Pokemon Company seems dead set on mashing two Japanese sets together. If they absolutely have to continue to take a different approach than Japan I feel it's a shame and theyre missing out on an opportunity. I think Japan has it right with quality over quantity.
Ive seen people call regular V monster cards "hits" when the standard V monster cards are essential to actually having a battle 😆, same with V Max cards.
@@DankDaHerbalist Generally if I feel the sealed pack would have been cooler to keep than the card I pulled or buying the single would have been cheaper then opening the product then it’s not a true hit
@@deathbymazda for me depends on the artwork and what set. Base set id keep sealed for my collection probably grade it. Something like fossil id gamble happy with most holos so long it isnt a muk 😂
If they must keep the rainbows, I think it would be neat to have one rainbow per set. Like the chase for the Rainbow Pikachu was awesome, what if there was "The rainbow" per set. But then you could argue that's what the gold cards are. Yeah get rid of the rainbows.
As a kid way back when, I thought the best cards were the Sugimori art ones and my most priced possessions were the Mew promo from the movie and Brock's Vulpix from the Japanese Gym set. None of those are even holos! Most of us weren't going for full sets. I agree that now children have influencers to tell them which cards are cool but yeah they also just get excited pulling a random V. As a kid or adult, collect what you like!
yeah definitely just get 1-2 booster boxes and then buy the singles after. it’s impossible to complete a set unless you have a ton of money and even if you do, thats just a bad idea to spend money on that
The gym trainer holos definitely deserve more love. They have such strong attachments to the games. Im not sure if these are promos but ive recently seen a set of trainer's badges that I thought were really cool as well.
Hey rattle, how do you fit the Secure fit sleeves inside the other ones upside down? I've tried doing it and I can never get it right and it always bubbles. It also makes the cards look a bit hazy since in the binder it's now behind 3 layers of plastic. Any tips? Which sleeves do you buy?
Are you using KMC perfect fit and KMC hyper matte? It takes some practice. I could make a video on it eventually or if you want to stop by a Discord happy hour, I can show it on there. Every Saturday at 6pm Eastern.

i feel like they could do away with regular full arts and hyper rare trainers if not all hyper rares. On a different note I liked the borders on the old exs when they were first introduced i think something like that would be cool on some of the specialty cards, like the "baby" shining pokemon or the prism star cards or amazing rares or cards like that.
I agree with everything you're saying Rattle, this man is just jealous of Rev. I mean I am too but he worked hard to get where he's at as you did too...at the end of the day everyone plays, collects and handles the TCG the way they want to and are going to be bitter at the next person for not being able to get product or complete their set after the first few weeks lol
Pokémon go set is a huge opportunity to mix those two segments amibo style. Imagine spawning a raid or even a once a day using a card image? (Rather than just shared arts)
With people submitting cards that never would've been graded before and people realizing they can't flip dip 69 420 stonk dogging so they just abandoned their submission, what does psa do with those cards? I'd think after so much time they can claim them for the company and sell them to recoup some of their losses?
I bought a bunch of Shining Fates ETBs but when i realized you only Get 3 baby shinies in each box and there are more than 100 of them... The odds just seemed too horrible to even attempt to open it. I'll keep it sealed for whichever sucker decides to pay me double in a few years.
It would be funny to see a kid buy 6 unlucky packs for $35 then tries to battle with a non-holo rare and the other kid throws down his V-Max pokemon and destroys because that kids parents decided to throw down $400 on 3 booster boxes.
My unpopular opinion base set charizard design is mid tier people only froth at it because it's value and prestige and the best zard is delta species and worst is rainbow from brilliant stars just my opinion tho

Ive had insane etbs full arts after full arts and secret rares. Also had bunk etbs luck is in play for sure. But yeah sets HUGE
