We could not speak about a North or South Korea around this time. One of the worst periods, if not the worst for some, was about to begin. The Koreans were really one nation back then. And this is exactly one aspects that brings the 2 different/divided Korean people together. On both sides of the border, 안중근 (An Jung Geun) is a national hero. Of course it's very understandable from the Korean perspective that we don't mourn Ito Hirobumi in the slightest way. The man responsible for killing Empress Myongsong, dethroning King Kojong, massacre of Koreans, usurping authority of the Korean government, claiming the relations were peaceful while they were actually hostile, plundering the country and many more things. @Northern Lad he was basically killed because of his role in preparing for the colonisation of korea. The treaties he made with the korean empire slowly limited korean empires role as an independent state in the international relations as well as making the lives of ordinary korean people hard as many koreans were abused with the building ofrailroads for japanese interests.

Interesting point. The firearm used by Ahn was a Belgium made pistol purchased in Shanghai. Interestingly, it was the same make and model used to assassinate Arch Duke Ferdinand that started WWI. This was an unfair violence for Korean father and son, but it could not justify An Jung Gun’s assassination. Even if Japanese business people neglected South Koreans after the Russo-Japanese war, terrorism could not be justified.

Japanese public bath owner delivered a blow to a wealthy Korean in front of his son though he paid money, but he was not charged. This was an unfair violence for Korean father and son, but it could not justify An Jung Gun’s assassination. Even if Japanese business people neglected South Koreans after the Russo-Japanese war, terrorism could not be justified.
