- A moody little bamboo grove in the rain.
Running realtime in Unreal Engine 5.2, with a combination of Quixel assets and textures, third-party assets and custom assets modelled and textured in Blender. Nanite was used for the assets, Lumen for GI and reflections.

Hey could you discuss the hardward and production process at some point? Pretty fascinating!
thoughtful reply, thanks@@user-rn5om9ol9o
Work of art
Is it somehow possible to get this as a demo to run? Eg as exe file? Amazing work.
sohagmia51.blogspot.com/2023/10/textile-is-best-way-to-make-money.html
Absolutely mindblowing how far technology has come that scenes like these look almost 1:1 to real life.
Imagine if this was actually just camera footage and this guy managed to fool us all that it's a render
I agree, though I'm curious as to why you say almost. What's the thing that makes you say that, like, what doesn't look realistic here?
@@alieoftruth1130 just some really minor details only a trained eye can see, like at 0:19 you can notice some rain drops behind the rock that should not be in focus and it feels like they are not touching the ground.
your right man they wasnt@@metateo98
@@alieoftruth1130 The raindrops in the water for me.
Lumen has come so far since it's inception. This is the most photoreal project I have ever seen in UE. At first I was thinking this was rendered out in Pathtracer. But knowing that this is all realtime is just bonkers.
Is it Lumen, are you sure? Sorry I just can't believe, cause it's look just crazy real
@@TheXeviour The OP said they used lumen for all of the GI and reflections.
If only they could fix the rain a little, primarily the repulsion of the drops from the surface, it would be enough to reduce it a bit (it's exaggerated and really "stings in the eyes") - otherwise you wouldn't even know it wasn't a recording.
@@jovanpejic w0w. Do you make stuff like this. I didn't notice that you have a keen eye for detail
@@futurepastself2777 its easy to tell if its lumen or path because typically path tracer doesn't have to much life to it then lumen, which you'll typically see trees and leaves moving as if there is wind and rivers flowing
That's literally reality, you can't convince this is fake
Haha - thanks!
@@lion_towers3d Np! I love your content
I guess you could say it's unreal
Honestly you can tell the rain drops in the puddle are just an animation because the ripples disappear instantly... We need full water particle physics =D
The splashes catch the light a little too much, otherwise it is hard to tell the difference.
this is by far the most photoreal ue5 creation I've seen. absolutely insane, well done
Thank you!
is there a game that i can play with these stunning graphics?
@@Bhoppings Les ordis ne sont pas assez puissants pour l'instant
@@maxou3359 these graphics can be run very well on high end systems and alot of the time mid range systems
@Bhoppings not yet but soon in a few years if you have a beefy computer
as a filmmaker I am blown away by the natural lens distortion and DOF and perfect amount softness to the image, and the slight over exposure on the sky. Im watching on a 120 inch screen and I have to say this is the most convincing photorealism i've seen... I struggle to believe this is not only GCI but UT5... has me very excited for the future.
UT5? :)
@@mustafasarkislamust be typo?
@@theonewhoasked...2708 As a former Unreal Tournament player, I also confuse a lot between UE and UT. I thought I've found another fellow player. Not meant to make fun of that.
Naa, it's real.
The rain material makes all the difference! Well done, looks so real!
Thank you!
Photo realism at its peak according to me. Keep it up man
Cheers!
This needs to be in VR, great work man!@@lion_towers3d
I remember when Battlefield 3 was considered the most realistic looking graphic, thinking how much longer until we can see something that truly like real, here we are.
Не могу поверить своим глазам. Выглядит как реальная сьемка живой природы.
This really showcases an unprecedented level of realism. From the accurate depth of field, lens distortion, and film grain, to the convincing play of light and shadows, realistic physics or placementof leaves. There are subtle imperfections that computers typically miss, like accurate subsurface scattering and human motion. Hats off to the creators for pushing the boundaries of computer-generated art! 🎉 I'm going to dive into ue5
Thank you!
daaaaaamn that's incredible level of Unreal Engine scenes.
I honestly had to do a double-take. I consider myself pretty good at spotting renders and real-life scenes, and this time, I was just confused as to how good this looks. Incredible.
Thank you so much!
I’m on my 4th viewing and still can’t believe it.
@@AnthonyCarrick I have watched it on my 4K TV and honestly, this looks like a video captured from a professional 4K camera, out of a real life setting. I kept looking at the details and was just blown away.
It looks more real than real life
So sick, we need a tutorial on how to achieve this level of realism
real...but i dont think he will upoad tutorial
yes, must show how this hyperealistic render done.
Step one - Get RTX 4090
If you dont have a good graphics card you would need to do some insane culling techniques, lol.
@akhil_1210 that's why I'm here, I have one but can't find a tutorial 😩
I watched based on an idea I have for my own niche, despite learning UE 5 for a while now I can´t believe the realism of this. Awesome work dude 👏
Wow you are one of the few people who can make such stunning realistic renders in ue5
Beautifully done.. hands down one of the most realistic ones I've seen. Love the color grade on it as well.
0:08 and 0:26... I couldn't even tell.
I love these kinds of UE projects, not just slapping presets, but actually having the time and effort to perfectly set things up.
insane unreal... OMG
Thanks!
I seriously hope that this will be able to be done for VR in the next few years.
🙏
Realistically, for this kind of fidelity to be possible in a full fledged game with multiple complex character animations and gameplay systems and all that, we’re 10 years away. Maybe more. But it it’s a really good look into the future.
@@Funnylittleman And that's before considering storage-space requirements. A full game with this level would easily require several hundred gigabytes... if not a full terrabye of space
@@Agenta-df3gbбудет высокоскоростной интернет, будет вся графика обрабатываться на серверах игры. Не нужно будет скачивать.
I wonder how many terrabytes real reality is@@Agenta-df3gb
Looks so good! Almost photorealistic. The rain drop splashes were the only thing that looked off
and the frame rate of the plants
I had to watch this a few times because I just couldn't believe it. I swear, every one of your videos is better than the last. What you can do with this engine is truly inspirational. Such a treat to get another one of your videos.
Thank you so much!
Best part of this demo is the foliage leaves moving. Not all demos show this. It just give so much life to a scene.
This is the first time I saw an Unreal video and went "Why am I watching some 'Fall asleep in ten minutes - rain sooths you to sleep' video, and realized, oh my god, this isn't REAL. Amazing work here.
The walk sown the path at the end looks absolutely real. Crazy cool.
I hope that I can live long enough to be able to play an actual videogame with these kinds of graphics... It's simply incredible
I'd guess we are about 2 years away from SOME games with those graphics.. AND your going to need a system that would at our present time cost about $3000 to play it. (Geforce rtx 4080) might be enough (not sure)
Like thiss… maybe the RDR3
I think this level of realism is already possible. It is just too expensive for the average person. I would say 10 years from know on the play station 7 we would have an affordable version
Maybe when Naughty Dog releases The Last Of Us 3 on PS5.
Eyup. I don't think it's still possible to play games at this level of graphics at 60fps yet. Especially these games would be incredibly demanding that only the best hardware could make them playable.
Honestly I’m having a really hard time believing this is not recorded out of a camera, this is how real it feels. The raindrops gave it away a bit so that’s how I know this is engine made but this is by far the most realistic video I’ve seen holy fucking shit.
I think, for the first time, my eyes are totally fooled. I would never have thought this was CG - unless told beforehand. Incredible, but also terrifying.
Gameranx brought me here! Thank you so much for giving us a glimpse into the potential of games!
First time I've seen foliage that is actually realistic, a few more polys here and there and it would be flawless for me. Huge respect.
You're probably the only artist who reached real photo-realism in unreal engine. Your works are out fo this world. You already helped me in the past to get wet effect using decals, I can't thank you enough for this. Top tier artists are usually (unfortunately) not available to share lots of details around their works.
If you have time, you can maybe do a tutorial regarding your console variables for render settings. I suppose you use some of them, otherwise I don't get how the renders looks so clean. It seems like you're using 16K megascans, man!
5 very big shiny stars. Great subtle camera work. Not overcooked and wobbly like so many people erroneously do.
Several times I was struggling to tell if it was real or not... Especially on those wide shots of the bamboo trees. Really amazing stuff
Thanks!
This is one of the most realistic showcases ive ever seen. Well done!
Man this is so cool, I might be in a different engine but I love these UE vids and presentation they always bring me a lot of excitement.
The rain is the only thing that's kind of weird to me, I don't know what it is exactly but something how the rain drops hit the ground, their light and maybe framerate feels off about it. But that's such a small thing that I'm nitpicking, really love this! You captured the atmosphere very nicely. :)
Just got done binging your channel and it's clear that your skills are improving lately. This is top notch stuff. Keep up the great work!
We're getting close. It's the fact that you can do close ups like that and still look almost convincing that makes it apparent. The wider experience is already pretty much there.
Just wow, man. I can't stop watching this. So beautiful. And the sound effects of rain is perfect. This is seriously so well done - thanks for sharing!
May I ask how you achieved the rain drops splashing and soaking into on the wood effect @0:04? I've never seen that in CG before.
0:25 This shot is flawless
I cant stop watching this. Showing my friends too. So insanely cool. Hope you make more man.
Just think about how insane it will be when VR games are using this.
imagine in 10 years when GPUs are fast enough and PT becomes mainstream, we get to play games with this level of realism. That is truly beautiful.
the amount of therapeutic potential with such realism is too real to be fake
I need a Uncharted 5 or the next Tomb Raider game looking like this, and I can die happy
Leo Torres the new Alex Roman. Same quality in the photorealism and you give us a mood which dive into your creation. Thx for sharing!
you can only really tell from the raindrops
Oh wow, this looks and feels real!
Kudos, Leo!
Maybe in a far future we cant see.... games will look like this but feeling and seeing all trough a helmet, like connected cells in a dream. No keyboard and mouse, no controller, just the mind... the matrix
I just showed this to our demogroup and offered a bottle of bacardi if they can tell it's a render. I guess I dont have to worry about owing them a bottle. The only thing that gives it away is the water droplets drying so quickly on the wood. The rest is as real as realism. We are entering very interesting times. Great job!
So this means there is a big chance that we live in a simulation and :"someone" could have developed the technology already to make it happen.
I love this one so much. Watched it a couple times already. Besides the almost forgotten "the third and the seventh", this is the most realistic piece I've seen in a long time. The rain... mind blowing, thank you for sharing that. This is soo damn good.
Thank you so much!
holy crap I though it was real for a moment
Mind is literally blown. Phenomenal.
Wow, one of the best i've seen coming out UE5, very well done Sir!
Cheers!
Un freaking real... no pun intended. Game developers have so much potential at their finger tips now. Yay 🙌
aaaaaamazing. That realism makes the scene so immersive, even without being in VR or something. 👏
HOW do you even get UE5 to look THIS photorealistic???
👁️👃👃👁️
Wow, this is crazy. Imagine this quality in VR. So many people with disabilities or problems can travel everywhere. And live a better life
I have no words. Simply beautiful. I want games to look like this.
Now we just need a videogame like this playing in real time.
Wow, this looks like your really outside in the rain, I cannot see anything that gives it away either, well done.
Imagine this UE5 project in real time. That would be so relaxing to just roam around. 😄
It is real time
You have reached a new and last level - reality. It looks like a film. Keep this level.
HOLY SHIT!! I am very pleased by this work!!! The bamboo is so real and nice!!!!
This is more than real for me. Absolutely stunning video!😍💚
Literally the only things that told me this wasn’t real was that the rain drop impacts seemed a little slow mo, and the leaves rustled just a little too uniformly. Other than that maybe the colour but that’s more a stylistic choice and I’ve definitely seen cinematic of say Norway that look just like this.
STUNNING!
This. Splash effect gave something away, and then the stillness for the separated plant parts despite flowing water around them or water droplets hitting them not having a reaction being the other part.
So breathtaking.
If you gave that last shot a handheld camera move and added realistic footsteps across wet boards, I would have no idea that's not real. Glad they named the software "unreal" to remind us!
Other then the greenery not moving in a realistic manner this looks almost real. When the day comes for computing power to render each individual leafs movement its own we will have a much harder time distinguishing the real from the fake. The games may look real, but will they be fun?
Colors and camera plays an important role in making game realistic
Astonishing work Leo, just incredible
Cheers!
Looks sooo good. The firefly’s from the rain is the only thing that gives it away
Amazing, great work!
Thanks!
by far the best i have seen :) knowing my pc will never be able to show this interactively
Absolutely phenomenal! This is the level of skill and beauty that I aspire to. Just fantastic.
Wow, thank you!
The day is not far when we cannot difference between reality and realism graphics.
God that was really awesome and good, I could literally smell the nature and feel the rain. That was amazing composition
Thank you!
Muito bom, destaque para a iluminação...
That was gorgeous very zen. Well done
Absolutely amazing!
It's absolutely perfect.
No need to leave your house to see bamboo.
Amazing. Impressive job.
Takes this as a compliment, I can't tell for sure that is not actually real footage shot beautifully.
Haha cheers!
Incredible work!
The rain gave it away for me.
This is amazingly awesome... keep it up
I'm completely blown away by this! Fantastic job!
Thank you!
This is … Unreal.
leo nailed the tones insanely close to real. love to learn his tech.
Realistic look congrats mate! Love it
this is basically photorealistic.
Damn, this is the most realistic unreal project I’ve seen, Bravo 👏
Cheers!
Wow... breathtaking 😍
This is astonishing. I've never seen CG so realistic. Well done.

but yeah no this is straight up cinema level
I doesnt even know more what is procedural/scanned/handcrafted. The result is a peacefull loneliness into an illusion.
Great work Indeed ! 👏

This is my favorite scene thus far in all of video rendering
Astonishing! Wow.
first UE5 creation i think is nothing but impressive
This looks incredibleeeee 😍
