    As a Theravada Buddhist…..I send you best wishes and respects. I really know nothing of Pure Land, or Amitabha Buddha. I was raised Christian….but found a comforting home in Theravada Buddhism and went for Refuge in the Triple Gem and accepted the Five Precepts at a Khmer Krom Theravada Temple.

    Yes teacher, i hav similar views of yours to finally decide on Amitabha Buddhism. Also bcos of my late daughter who rebirth last month, also a Chinese Pure Land Buddhist. Initially i learnt Christianity, then Thervada, then Tibetan Mahayana but was goin in circles despite the basic knowledge. Now just about 50 days of daily practice, i vow to be a follower of Amitabha. May many many of us hav rebirth in The Land of Bliss. Namo Amituofo🙏🙏🙏

    Practice, practice and practice to keep Amitabha Buddha constantly in your mind to silence the cacophony of inner voices and deluded thoughts. Recite, recite and recite Amitabha Buddha to anchor Amitabha Buddha in your mind(memory).
    Recite Amitabha Buddha is to recite 'Wordless Sutra' of the mind. Within the Dharma, each and every method is perfect and unimpeded.
    If the mind is utterly sincere, each and every Dharma method elicits a wonderful response; if the mind is not utterly sincere, no method is effective.
    Thank you Jiawen. Namo Amitabha Buddha 🙏🙏🙏

    I can't thank you enough for all that you do! I just downloaded Jiahuan's book and look forward to reading it at your recommendation. Also, all the links here to practice and study resources online! I took my refuge and bodhisattva vows in the Tibetan Buddhist Nyigma and Kagyu traditions but found I am absolutely not a candidate for Vajrayana. I now practice nianfo (just started!) diligently and want to practice the precepts and bodhicitta. Question. I still do some Tara , Kuan Yin and Protector practices, as well as the purification practice of the 35 Confession Buddhas (Mahayan Sutra of the Superior Three Heaps) Some pure land traditions say not to do other practices at all. But I feel Kuan Yin and Tara brought me to Amitabha, as they are his students, and I want to purify as much negative karma as I can in this life before rebirth in Sukhavati (which I vow to do and dedicate all merit to do). Is there any prohibition against these other practices? I try to do nianfo all day every day and in dedicated daily sessions, as well as during meditation. In the end it's all Other Power, I know I'm not "doing it" it is Amitabha calling to me as my own Buddha nature. Would love your thoughts on these other practices!

      Hello wonderful you found the Pure Land path suitable for you 👍 🙏 Yes you can absolutely still practice other practices, but also transfer the merit of other practices towards rebirth to the Pure Land, to increase your provisions to the Pure Land. Hope this helps. Amituofo

    Thank you for a wonderful explination. A problem I see in the western countries is that so few Chinese Pure Land texts have been translated. There are many more books available on the Japanese traditions. I hope you continue with your talks. Amituofo.

    I've always wondered how your school approaches what to do with the mind during Nianfo recitation. Are there multiple methods (such as in the book "Taming the Monkey Mind")? Do you practice the visualizations from the Visualization Sutra? Do you focus on the 32 marks of the Buddha? I'm sorry if you've ever mentioned this topic in one of your videos and I somehow missed it. I try to work the visualizations sometimes, but I have a hard time proceeding past the sun & the water (#1 and #2). I know some of the 32 marks but have a hard time visualizing them. I've also tried just listening to myself recite the name. I'm curious if you have any advice. Thanks.

      Hello no need to practice visualization method (it's difficult and advanced, not for ordinary beings. )
      You can watch the video here I mentioned before
      th-cam.com/video/HnDoTXsglNI/w-d-xo.html
      In Chinese Pure Land Buddhism we just focus on Nianfo with faith and vow. And yes you can use hearing faculty when Nianfo, to listen to your own chant. And don't worry about wandering thoughts, just focus on Nianfo. You can watch my playlist Pure Land Buddhism 101 & Guided Nianfo Meditation which I've discussed most of the questions.
      Amituofo 🙏

    why do you have to put the word Chinese in pureland. pureland does not discrimiate. let it go

    • @PureLandBuddhism
      @PureLandBuddhism  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Because the lineage I study is called Chinese Pure Land Buddhism. Sure Pure Land does not discriminate, but there are also many Pure Land schools so people know which school I practise (in case they wonder why it seems different to their schools). AMITUOFO
