It might be reminiscent of Pink Floyd, but who cares? There can never be too much heavenly music like this to go around. It's a gift to those who get off on this stuff. I do.
This song is like Pink Floyd Resurrected. This song is so surreal and instantly transports me to somewhere on the south pacific sea, lying down on a catamaran with azure skys above. Please channel the energy that made this song into more music.
LYRICS: Lock the door Draw the shades Close my eyes I'm miles away I'll spend the day in my own way Count the hours Mark the days Underneath it all The rise and swelling of the waves I'll spend the day in my own way All the plans That were made Let them die Let them fade I'll spend the day in my own way Please understand I'm only human After all's said and done Only here a moment Then the moment's gone I'll spend the day in my own way Please understand I'm only human At times I fail At times I fold Don't break your back trying to carry it Wait 'til the world can't please the moon Lock the door Draw the shades Close my eyes I'm miles away I'll spend the day in my own way I'll spend the day in my own way I'll spend the day in my own way
When Ray first started playing before an audience he was such a timid, reserved artist. I used to carry him around to any open stage we could find and the crowds were always the same, hesitant at first and with reservation for what they were about to hear. But by the first song that was usually gone and replaced by a very captivated crowd. The songs of his youth were absolutely mesmerizing to say the least and by far my favorites. I really miss them and, sadly will never here them again, they were not recorded, they were not saved, they are just gone now except for what memories I still cling to. Can't say I am a big fan of the direction he is headed now, but music is a personal thing and we all have different opinions and likes when it comes to music. What he is doing now will touch many people to come just as what he has done in the past has touched so many of us already. His music is the sound tract that plays when I recall many of my most cherished memories and I will support him where ever his music takes us.
+Lola McG It was, and I have a cassette tape he made for me way back before he would ever play in front of someone. It is one of my most cherished possessions. I don't see Ray anymore, his fame has taken him away from us. I knew him as a little boy and as a young man and I will always have that.
Closing 2020 with this truly beautiful song .. so long and farewell!! 👋🥳 Thank you Ray Lamontagne, and a big shout out to the Blacklist, one of the greatest shows of our generation 🖤
I love it when Ray's heart comes through his music…I really feel it in this song, even though it reminds me a bit of Pink Floyd. My personal hope is that Ray makes more music with the Pariah Dogs...
+Sean Meister ..IM HEARIN FLOYD ALL THE WAY THROUGH...THOUGH I DO LIKE IT ...HEAVILY INFLUENCED ALBUM..BUT I THINK HE PULLS IT OFF...LIKE ONLY RAY CAN ,,,PEACE..:)'
I cannot stop listening to this album...great lyrics, Pink Floydish sound... "All the plans That were made Let them die Let them fade I'll spend the day in my own way" "Birdsong, tugging on my slumber Opens my eyes. Slowly I am woken to find Your hand in mine." ...Gotta love it!!!
I just can't describe what I feel when I hear this man. I'm thankful for the opportunity to feel something like that. I'm thankful for Ray LaMontagne be alive in the same time that I'm. This album is going to be one of his best one.
Feeling this song tonight after an emotionally tough week. Just want to feel valued greater than a snail or a roach. We should all be able To find that high!
I still remember discovering Ray Lamontagne, in 2004, Elton John was asked by Larry King about new artists he was into. He said "i'm into The Killers, and this guy Ray Lamontagne." That was the night i discovered Trouble... Man.... a few months later i saw him perform at Bonnaroo 2004 and it was a remarkable show. hell yeah
Now THAT's my kind of guy ... blessed with THAT kind of voice ... and my kind of last song with THAT light to consume me at my very last breath ... Really. Thanks so very much Ray.
Pt 1 Darkness Pt 2 Light both songs Growing songs for me Great song God Bless Ya and No Matter Where Your From there is Dark and Light even if we don't see it ✌💙
My Dad’s old neighbor in Camden, ME. Nice guy very approachable normal guy and hands down the best musician on the st. ! This track is a little Pink Floyd’ish if you ask me. Awesome.
Lock the door Draw the shades Close my eyes I'm miles away I'll spend the day in my own way Count the hours Lock the days Underneath it all The rise and swelling of the waves I'll spend the day in my own way All the plans That were made Let them die Let them fade I'll spend the day in my own way Please understand I'm only human After all's said and done Only here a moment Then the moment's gone I'll spend the day in my own way Please understand I'm only human At times I fail, at times I fold Don't break your back trying to carry it Wait 'till the world can't please them all Lock the door Draw the shades Close my eyes I'm miles away I'll spend the day in my own way I'll spend the day in my own way I'll spend the day in my own way
Great sound... I can dig it Ray. I'm not the biggest fan of the new direction but it has its place. "God Willing"... He will do more work with Pariah Dogs. To me, that was the pinnacle of his work to date.
+Daniel LaFontaine I have to agree with you there. Cuz I seen him with the Pariah Dogs and then last year I saw him with the new band or whatever. It was a new direction. I really dig this tune though.
+Daniel LaFontaine I prefer this era. Maybe he tried new influential drugs? And yes, I also here a big Pink Floyd sound and message... "I'll spend the day in my own way" then "I'll And I'll climb the hill in my own way" from Floyd's Fearless.
Its my Birthday Today... So This song was my choice of ABSOLUTE FAVORITE to listen to. I love it. Maybe some day I could meet Ray. He has such a Classic Rock feeling to it. Just awesome in every way. Sort of like Crosby Stills, Nash and Young kind of Vibe. ROCK ON DUDE !
Listeners must stop living in the past and listen with open ears. Nearly every good performer goes through changes or has drastically differing output with each album. At first listen, Supernova was not the Ray I'd come to know and love; now, I can't get enough of it (esp. Ojai). I'm certain that his new material will come to be just as well liked.
That's the problem. People have lost the fine art of listening. There's always gotta be some kind of box to put things into. I think the lyrics are a beautiful contradiction to this very tendency everyone has of imposing their box upon his music. It's not anything. It's Ray Lamontagne, in his own way
I like many of you first heard this on the TV series blacklist, I believe at the end of episode 16 of season three. I actually stumbled onto the series on Netflix and immediately loved it. Whoever scouts the music used in this series is amazing as this song and so many other great songs have been used it different episodes. IT has turned me onto great new songs and wonderful artists I didn't even know existed. Another series that has also turned me onto some great new music and artists is the TV series REIGN. It is interesting that around the world as different as we are as far as customs, cultures, faiths, etc., at the same time we are quite the same. Absolutely beautiful song. His early albums were fantastic, but I think what some are calling his "new direction" is just as fantastic, in it's own way. I hope fans can appreciate the evolution Ray has made as an artist. The "Supernova" album really grew on me the more I listened to it, and I'm already looking forward to this new album. I'm here 'cause of "The Blacklist" also, but I almost hit the roof 'cause I when I heard it, I thought it was a new Pink Floyd song. I know I'm about three late, but I've been finally catching up!
The blacklist brought me here such a great track..... getting pink floyd vibes from it :D
+Byron Tantony Thank you
Great
You do pink floyd vibes, don't you.
Exactly what I said
This is above and beyond my friend.
The blacklist, Raymond Reddington !
+JustBecauseIHaveTheTime Thank you
+JustBecauseIHaveTheTime I knew I recognized it from somewhere!

+Ron Smith lol, i was here, i know this song from somewhere, how is it possible? than read your comment
+JustBecauseIHaveTheTime Точно точно 3 сезон 16 серия
This song is just inanely beautiful
Awesome guitar tone! Blacklist brought me here S03E16
It might be reminiscent of Pink Floyd, but who cares? There can never be too much heavenly music like this to go around. It's a gift to those who get off on this stuff. I do.
Yeah very Floyd-esque ... Us & Them but terrific nonetheless
I'll spend the day in my own way..... Solitude. I love how it's got this trippy pink floyd thing going on here.
+Aaron Young I thought the exact same thing man
+JayPleezer304 Good to know I wasn't just thinking that lol
+JayPleezer304 It's got that Us and Them flow goin on.
+Aaron Young I was thinking Neil Young, his early stuff.
If this song was weather, it would be a gentle rainy day, watching the rain roll softly down the windows. ❤
This song is like Pink Floyd Resurrected. This song is so surreal and instantly transports me to somewhere on the south pacific sea, lying down on a catamaran with azure skys above. Please channel the energy that made this song into more music.
I live in WA state and this song immediately transports me to the coast in Oregon. Every time. It's so beautiful.
This album should be on prescription !!!!
LYRICS: Lock the door
Draw the shades
Close my eyes
I'm miles away
I'll spend the day in my own way
Count the hours
Mark the days
Underneath it all
The rise and swelling of the waves
I'll spend the day in my own way
All the plans
That were made
Let them die
Let them fade
I'll spend the day in my own way
Please understand I'm only human
After all's said and done
Only here a moment
Then the moment's gone
I'll spend the day in my own way
Please understand I'm only human
At times I fail
At times I fold
Don't break your back trying to carry it
Wait 'til the world can't please the moon
Lock the door
Draw the shades
Close my eyes
I'm miles away
I'll spend the day in my own way
I'll spend the day in my own way
I'll spend the day in my own way

Man, I bet that was so amazing. I wish so much that I could travel back in time and be there for that! You have great memories!
+Lola McG It was, and I have a cassette tape he made for me way back before he would ever play in front of someone. It is one of my most cherished possessions. I don't see Ray anymore, his fame has taken him away from us. I knew him as a little boy and as a young man and I will always have that.
What was he like?
+Lola McG As a little boy or as a young musician?
+Bob Fortner Both!
When you hear the first couple of notes, your body and mind just surrender to it's beauty! No words, Ray except "Thank You"!
This song sounds like sitting on a boat on a calm lake, fly fishing on a hot summer day, with little bugs lazily buzzing around. Ahhhhh, Heaven!
Would you pee in the water if you knew you'd get away with it? ☻
Closing 2020 with this truly beautiful song .. so long and farewell!! 👋🥳
Thank you Ray Lamontagne, and a big shout out to the Blacklist, one of the greatest shows of our generation 🖤
This beautiful man can do no wrong in my eyes. Love this. The guitar riffs are the icing on the cake.
You said it best, babe!
Pink floyd or snowy white must have been an influence
This reminds me of Pink Floyd .
Such Soulful music
2:05
I love it when Ray's heart comes through his music…I really feel it in this song, even though it reminds me a bit of Pink Floyd. My personal hope is that Ray makes more music with the Pariah Dogs...
+Sean Meister I agree, it has that same atmospheric vibe of Pink Floyd in the 70's
yes. particularly, this sound a lot like us and them
Ray the singer or Raymond Reddington?
+Jonathas Luiz Yes
+Sean Meister ..IM HEARIN FLOYD ALL THE WAY THROUGH...THOUGH I DO LIKE IT ...HEAVILY INFLUENCED ALBUM..BUT I THINK HE PULLS IT OFF...LIKE ONLY RAY CAN ,,,PEACE..:)'
It's very Pink Floydish, when the guitar kicks in reminds me a lot of David Gilmour / Hendrix
+MrAlex327 thats what i was thinking. Late floyd influenced exactly.
That's exactly what I thought too!! Ummagumma Floyd.
Very Us and Them!
You clearly haven't heard much of Pink Floyd OR Jimi Hendrix.
No offense.
Reminds me of Obscured by Clouds album.
thank you Raymond Reddington
Just speachless...what a totally healing track...
I cannot stop listening to this album...great lyrics, Pink Floydish sound...
"All the plans
That were made
Let them die
Let them fade
I'll spend the day in my own way"
"Birdsong, tugging on my slumber
Opens my eyes.
Slowly I am woken to find
Your hand in mine."
...Gotta love it!!!
This song is just pure breath taking. Raw lyrics are so rare these days and hard to come by.
The Blacklist brought me here Raymond and Dembe over the secret Liz will know if the universe wants her to know
Me too!!
+Samantha Rossi me 3
Thank God for Ray and his amazing music!
amen
amen
reminds me of Pink Floyd
I just can't describe what I feel when I hear this man.
I'm thankful for the opportunity to feel something like that. I'm thankful for Ray LaMontagne be alive in the same time that I'm.
This album is going to be one of his best one.
Feeling this song tonight after an emotionally tough week. Just want to feel valued greater than a snail or a roach. We should all be able
To find that high!
Search for the value within. That’s where it begins. Peace.
This is so thought provoking. He paints such a beautiful picture. It almost has a "Parachutes" by Coldplay vibe to it. I can't get enough!
This song, all his songs, him..hold a special place in my heart. 💗💓💗
The guitar rifts make this actually perfect❤️ Blacklist did a good job picking this one:)
Absolutely love this song!! Amazing!! I agree that it sounds a lot like Pink Floyd. Bravo Ray!! You've done it once again!!
mellow out! having Jim James and ray together is like having Diego Maradona and leo messi in the same team. cannot wait for the full album.
If Alan Parsons Project and Mark Knopfler had a love child, it would be this song. LOVE it!
If the universe wants her to know, she will find a way...
- Demby.
This touches my heart ❤️
I think this song is absolutely gorgeous. I for one am pumped for this album.
Wasn't to keen on "Hey no pressure" but loving this one. I only hope the rest of the album has this style of music on it.
I really enjoy the older songs from Ray, but I do thoroughly enjoy the new direction he's going.
Glorious. The only thing to dislike is that it is here for free. Music this great should be supported so the artist can make more.
I still remember discovering Ray Lamontagne, in 2004, Elton John was asked by Larry King about new artists he was into. He said "i'm into The Killers, and this guy Ray Lamontagne." That was the night i discovered Trouble... Man.... a few months later i saw him perform at Bonnaroo 2004 and it was a remarkable show. hell yeah
Chillin w/wine....that's my own way...Thx Ray!!
Ray's voice is beautiful , and sincere, authentic in his expression. Bravo Ray ! anyhow I appreciate a lot.
Very well said and true!
Love this! I had a really tough week both emotionally and physically and this song helped me get through it. Bravo, Ray!
+sara schwartz Hope you have had a better week and found happy songs to listen to,too!
@@PongStar69
Is that a DUCK in the thumbnail??? ...wtf
A 61 foot tall duck. Reminded me of ping pong balls!
This sound must have 1.00000000000000 vue...fabulous..
I'll spend the day in my own way
(with this song playing in the background)
Fearless
This should be an anthem!
The Blacklist!
Now THAT's my kind of guy ... blessed with THAT kind of voice ... and my kind of last song with THAT light to consume me at my very last breath ... Really. Thanks so very much Ray.
This is heavenly good!!!
Waw the blacklist is doing a verry great job choosing like those peaces of art soundtracks.
It's got the Jim James guitar stink all over it...love it!
How can people dislike this? It's got an old soulful vibe, Ray is one of my biggest influences in writing music.
Pt 1 Darkness Pt 2 Light both songs Growing songs for me Great song God Bless Ya and No Matter Where Your From there is Dark and Light even if we don't see it ✌💙
I love his music and cannot wait to see him in Austin!
Yesssss! Reddington!
Part one: hey, I know you're feeling depressed... There's no pressure.
Part two: you're damn right I am, I'll handle this my own way.
:(
My Dad’s old neighbor in Camden, ME. Nice guy very approachable normal guy and hands down the best musician on the st. ! This track is a little Pink Floyd’ish if you ask me. Awesome.
I don't know hardly anything about Ray's older stuff, but hot damn, this song is awesome.
Ohhhh mama, this is gooooood.
Beyond words, i needed exactly this right Now, Blessings
mmmm, nothing like a little bit of The Blacklist.
The blacklist brought me here ❤️
and it breaks my heart to see such videos with only 180k...what a painful world..
amine sadouk good music isn't for everyone...some will never appreciate true art..
An absolute masterpiece produced by the one and only Jim James.
Thank you for this wonderful dream, Ray✨
the blacklist soundtrack
I love the tone of the guitar at around 1:30 Just glorious
Jose David Vargas God I love that distorted guitar. Spine tingling.
Sarah Ferrigan right! had to immediately grab my guitar and transcribe that riff
Thank you Reddington.

I think it's actually "The times are frail the times are flawed." That's what I heard, plus it makes more sense.
+Katie Lane Thanks for correcting. :)
Thank you SoundHound. The Blacklist has a pretty decent soundtrack.
SOUNDS LOVELY SIR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful ❤Thanks for the pleasant music ❤
In the verses I hear Buffalo Springfield - Expecting to Fly. Love the guitar tone.
Thank heavens, Ray is back to doing what he's great at. Beautiful work.
I'll spend the day in my own way...fuckin right.
+Daniel LaFontaine Totally agreed! Pariah dog era is the best! This direction is ok, but sounds like he is trying to be early Pink Floyd (Syd era)
+Daniel LaFontaine I completely agree with you. this song remind me the pink floyd or david gilmour when i hear it for the first time, I like it
+Daniel LaFontaine I prefer this era. Maybe he tried new influential drugs? And yes, I also here a big Pink Floyd sound and message... "I'll spend the day in my own way" then "I'll And I'll climb the hill in my own way" from Floyd's Fearless.
Yeah after listening to the album a few times, I am convinced that Pink Floyd was a heavy influence to the new music.
Great tune!
Airy, light...just in time for spring, summer.
While the tune is playing, stare at the graphics and watch what happens...very trippy!
Those guitar instrumentals are the only reason I get out of bed in the morning.
If you like this I suggest checking out Gravity by John Mayer.

Wow,cant stop listening...
lol this is the best Floyd mimicry I think I've ever heard. Same chord movements as Us And Them too!
just realized the image moves🤙
What a journey❤
Beautiful ❤
Thank you WTMD Towson Baltimore Maryland for playing this beautiful musician
I like many of you first heard this on the TV series blacklist, I believe at the end of episode 16 of season three. I actually stumbled onto the series on Netflix and immediately loved it. CANNOT WAIT TO SEE YOU AGAIN THIS SUMMER........ You bring us so much happiness.
Does sound a lot like Pink Floyd, but the guitar riff reminds me of Santana.
Absolutely beautiful song. His early albums were fantastic, but I think what some are calling his "new direction" is just as fantastic, in it's own way. Wow

I'm here 'cause of "The Blacklist" also, but I almost hit the roof 'cause I when I heard it, I thought it was a new Pink Floyd song. I know I'm about three late, but I've been finally catching up!
Seriously diggin the new vibe!
TELL EM RAY!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I too got introduced to this song via The Blacklist. I hear "Don't Dream It's Over" by Crowded House. Can anyone else hear it?
This reminds me of Echoes by Pink Floyd - both great songs!
