Not as much, because of course the rest of the film was also amazing, but definitely would still love it.
None of the hits connect meaning bad choreography/direction/acting, not that a hit wasn’t GOING to connect. Hits that the movie presents as landing can very clearly be seen not connecting. Guy on the bus gets punched in the head (doesn’t connect) and then randomly jumps out the window.
I watched Shang chi yesterday expecting it to be normal fighting but I loved every fight scene and how cool everything looked, one of the best marvel movies in my opinion

Shang-Chi was like … Black Panther beautiful, so wonderful. Thanks for story boarding, pre-vissing, coordinating, CGI’ing, and more on Shang-Chi, thank you so much, I still get chills on Bus Fight and Dragon Fight.

Please look for one of the best fight scenes of all time in Gorgeous, a Jackie Chan flick a bit less well known. He and Jackie tear it UP in that. Best wishes everyone
This episode really tapped on the reason I personally adore this series. I know this is the exact point of the series but showing the amount of effort and time that goes into all these scenes. Showing how much work and passion is required to make someone a reality. It really makes us all appreciate the amazing work.
I love watching their videos where they go over the stunts of MCU movies. However, I wonder why they didn't make a video for the Black Widow movie yet.
I loved how different each fight scene’s choreography felt really from each other but still made sense story wise. And daaaaang the the airbending fights made me so excited for the Avatar live action series fights
The gun battle from Heat during the bank robbery with Robert De Niro and Val Kilmer is particularly intense. Especially the sound design, and their sense of desperation. It feels realistic.
One of the key elements that made the Heat gunfight so dramatic is that there is NO sound track added. The ONLY sounds you hear are the gunshots and cars. That had never been done before. (Or since, I think...)
I absolutely loved the High-School-project look of the Marvel figures and cutout paper vis. It proves that the tools are less important than what you can do with them.
I was wearing raycon earbuds while watching this and decided to give an actual review. Drawbacks are that the awareness mode doesn't really do anything, they fall out while chewing, and sometimes if my head is tilted too long. But overall they're great their max volume blocks out other noises and can't be heard by people more than three feet from you, they are very durable I've dropped mine multiple times, once into a pan of water and they sound exactly the same, very comfortable, easy to use (most of the time), long battery life, and great audio. One thing you might see a lot of if you look at other reviews is that they "stop working" but this just means they're having pairing issues that can be fixed by turning them off and on, disconnecting and reconnecting, or leaving them in their case for a minute. Overall great earbuds. Also sweat doesn't effect them and they've never fallen out while exercising.
Shang Chi is definitely my favorite Marvel movie to come out in the last couple of years, so this is great to see. This, and Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
After the fight between the father in the mother, I thought a live action Avatar the Last Airbender could totally work. Airbending would look totally sick.
@@KenSahaja I know, but this showed me it can actually look good. The Airbending from the movie seemed slow and impractical. This was very nice and dynamic.
It would be okay, but I don't think it would work much better with Aang's style. What made the animation work is that the air was "colored" to be visible. Here, they're using leaves and you can see that it's not quite as crisp or clear. (It's not bad; it's just less clear than the animated Avatar fights.) Like, take Aang's finishing move on The Drill. You'd need some kind of visible effect to show that shockwave, and it'd need to clearly read as air pressure, not energy. On a constantly vibrating surface like the drill, you wouldn't have enough loose material to visually show what just happened. It's a challenge. I'm sure some VFX person will figure something out someday, though.
As a huge fan of Captain America: Winter Soldier, the fight choreography of this film is definitely in par (maybe even better) than the fight scenes with cap and bucky...
The cap/bucky fight had better choreography and story, but Shang Chi has the best marvel fight scene cinematography. It's so great to actually be able to see what's going on rather than 20 shots that are 0.5 seconds long stitched together.
@@ashina5924 Personally, not a big fan of shaky camera and quick cuts. Shang chi definitely edged winter soldier for me. Choreography just felt so fluid in this movie.
Loved all of this! But also want to take note of the extras in the bus scene (around 4:50): the guy filming the action with his phone, the bus driver reacting. Nice touch.
I thank Brad Allan for the work he did on Shang-Chi, my favorite MCU movie of all time. I am also happy that small Stuntmen from TH-cam got the chance to work on the movie, such as Andy Le aka Death Dealer
Finally! I've been waiting to see them break this down together since I saw Chris's Instagram posts at the premiere. It's so freaking cool that we get to see both a vfx AND stunts breakdown on this movie :D
You should get Martial Club onto the show. They have a martial arts/ stunt choreography channel on TH-cam and the channel owner, Andy Le, was Death Dealer in Shang-Chi
4:44 are we not going to talk about the cool tunnel transition? SUCH an awesome way to change the scenery lighting without forcing it to be outside in a single lighting setting.
Good gunfight films that predate the 2000s: you’ve already featured Hard Boiled but if there are any scenes (maybe the boat/dock shootout?) that you haven’t gone over then it’s worth a look. The Way of The Gun is another absolutely incredible gunfight movie from that era. The car “chase” shootout was cool as well as the end showdown in a Mexican brothel.
One of my all-time favorite shoot out scenes is in the movie True Romance, so many different groups in 1 room all there for different reasons, a lot going on, very chaotic!
Actors doing the talk show circuit doesn't get me excited for films or anything like that, because they're just doing a contractual obligation and aren't really invested in the interviews. I mean, hell, often most of the interviews are all the same. But this, having some of the talent that worked on the film come on and talk about it? It REALLY makes me want to watch those movies. Their positivity and passion for the project really affects me, gets me to actually want to watch things I'm otherwise not really interested in, and really makes me appreciate the picture a whole lot more. Thanks to Chris and Yung for doing this interview, because now I actually want to watch Shang-Chi. I hope for many more episodes like this.
To be fair, they are just talking stunts. I enjoyed the work put into the movie, but i can't say i really liked the pacing or the narrative all that well. The guys, even stunt directors that you see here, in the end just do a 'their bit' of the story which they get handed, and as good as fight scenes can be, for me at least, having poor character motivations for example kills that joy of watching him/her act in that world.
I was so waiting this reaction/breakdown. I remember an interview that Daniel Cretton did that the movie was influenced by so many Asian movies, the wuxia style in the fight between Shang-Chi's mom and Wenwu, Oldboy and Jackie during the bus, Jackie also during the scaffolding outside the building, Hong Kong crime films that are Tony Leung's bread and butter. It was amazing
3:34 completely agree with you there Niko, I just think it's a shame he felt like the script/narrative demoted him to a lesser supporting role, like, it's an origin story intended to introduce us to his character, engage us in his journey and showcase everything he is about.... surely I'm not the only one who thought there should have been more focus on him
I love that Marvel brought together so many young and new people and just gave them to do whatever they think is best! I rewatched Shang-Chi a couple of times now and holy, it's so beautifully filmed movie! It takes my breath away every time!
It's awesome seeing more and more industry professionals on your show. Really great way for stuntmen to talk about their careers and for viewers to get a bit more personal behind-the-scenes info on these takes.
@@Backroad_Junkie Sometimes I actually prefer going in with lower expectations so I can be pleasantly supprised but not disappointed. Hopefully no way home is just as good. "Hey the bus is gonna split." What did you find caught your attention?

We've been watching Simu Liu in Kim's Convenience for ages now seeing him on the big screen is amazing! I'm so happy to see the team that brought this to life too!!
What I found funny was the scene at the bar where "Shaun" talks about telling someone he's Chinese, not Korean. Because I'm pretty sure there was a scene in Kim's Convenience where Jung says the exact reverse.
So many greats and legends worked on this Brad Allen, Yuen Wah, Michelle Yeoh, Tony Leung, Andy Le, etc. it’s phenomenal! Eastern action meets Western film. Can never go wrong with Eastern action!
Hi, this is my first time commenting on anything on TH-cam but I couldn’t resist suggesting a series of films. I have always loved the fighting in Jackie Chan films but i have always thought the action in Jet Li’s old Hong Kong films to be much more interesting. I highly suggest the drunken final fight in once upon a time in China 3. You’d have to watch the whole film to really understand all the dynamics going on but the choreography is just so crazy. Another scene would be the fight between Jet Li and Donnie Yen in Once Upon a Time in China 2 where they fight with a bamboo poles and Donnie pulls out a ‘cloth stick’. please check out these films for stunt work if you’ve never experienced these films and consider reacting to them. I’d love to see your reactions. I feel they are under appreciated compared to Jackie Chan’s fights. Other amazing fight films with jet li are the Fong Sai Yuk films. Thanks!
When I was watching the Assembled episode aka the behind the scenes of Shang-Chi the moment I saw Chris I got so hyped 1 cause he’s amazing and 2 cause I knew who he was from this show haha! And now I’m getting the reverse cause I saw Yung in the behind the scenes and now I’m seeing him here!
I’m catching up on the stuntmen react series so I don’t know for sure, but if you guys haven’t reacted to the stunts in the movie tenet yet i highly recommend it, all those backwards stunts and the theory behind them would most likely make an entire video on their own. Love the content and hope to see some coverage of Tenet in the future 🤞🏼
Not a gun fight but I'd love to see a reaction to the bar fight from the world's end! I don't know a lot about what makes a fight scene good or bad but, i think that it is at least a lot of fun and I'd love to see what you guys think of it!
It would be cool to see you react to the duel from "Potop", it's really good sword fight (tho technically it's sabers i think) You gotta react to the *last agni kai fight from ATLA.* It's so stunning! And *Aslan from the Chronicles of Narnia!*
It doesn't predate the 2000s, but you guys *really* should cover "Shoot 'Em Up" with Clive Owen someday. It's a parody of gun-fu movies that also has some of the best gun-fu ever shot.
I have several friends who's faith in seeing Marvel movies was revitalized by how good 10 Rings was. We all are very familiar with Hong Kong martial arts movies, and very much appreciated the dedication to making this both a super hero movie and a genuine martial arts movie.
The jacket gag is officially the coolest combat skill in the world, and definitely must be used more often in other action films.
I agree that it's the coolest combat skill, however I think having it used more often would take away from how cool it is.

And the discipline to not talk over the guests and let them tell their stories completely.
@@destroythehuman3380very true! Niko doesn't seem to have the need for attention or for him to be in focus. He really likes to listen and learn. :-)
The choreography in Shang-Chi is so phenomenal I thought I was watching a Jackie Chan recreation, it was so spot on, what an anazing movie
SAME! IT FELT LIKE A JACKIE CHAN MOVIE WITH MARVEL CGI
The choreography was one of the worst parts. Extremely lazy, none of the hits connect, and everyone is on strings.
@@usokkithetree8738 its called dodging and they used string for jumping, ease up
None of the hits connect meaning bad choreography/direction/acting, not that a hit wasn’t GOING to connect. Hits that the movie presents as landing can very clearly be seen not connecting. Guy on the bus gets punched in the head (doesn’t connect) and then randomly jumps out the window.
The guy who did the stunt coordination used to work with Jackie Chan, also involved in the kingsman movies and a bunch more
I watched Shang chi yesterday expecting it to be normal fighting but I loved every fight scene and how cool everything looked, one of the best marvel movies in my opinion
I must agree with this, I loved this movie thoroughly
simple minds easily entertained
@@SuperFlawless2010 and you must be a mega mind person aren’t you
@@ron_sr1218 not really, just spoiled by martial arts movies that are out of this world.
@@SuperFlawless2010 Liking other martial arts movies more is fine, but saying that people who enjoyed Shang-Chi have "simple minds" is just being rude for no reason.
One of the best breakdowns. Thanks for allowing them to tell their story and share their thoughts. You did a great job hosting.
I have gained so much respect and awe for the Stunt department from these videos. I work as a 2nd AC and I can't weait until the day I'm on a massive budget film with stunt men like this.
Hope that day comes soon for you!
These guys have the DOPEST job. I could listen to them all day. Stunt and action design is way too underrated.
I remember saying this after watching Shang-Chi, this was everything Ironfist could have been, it was like a better, longer version of the warehouse fight where Luke Cage and Ironfist team up and we get a taste of Heroes For Hire possibilities. Shang-Chi was like … Black Panther beautiful, so wonderful. Thanks for story boarding, pre-vissing, coordinating, CGI’ing, and more on Shang-Chi, thank you so much, I still get chills on Bus Fight and Dragon Fight.
5 foot (and one inch) punch!! 😂
Taking notes for your next class (video), sensei?
Rest in peace, Brad Allan. What an incredible man, fighter, choreographer. Good friend and team member of Jackie Chan. He will be deeply missed. Please look for one of the best fight scenes of all time in Gorgeous, a Jackie Chan flick a bit less well known. He and Jackie tear it UP in that. Best wishes everyone
My heart drop when they mentioned “Late Brad Allen” I was like what!? I didn’t know he passed away. What a legend!
@@verynick where'd they mention "the late Brad Allan" ?
This episode really tapped on the reason I personally adore this series. I know this is the exact point of the series but showing the amount of effort and time that goes into all these scenes. Showing how much work and passion is required to make someone a reality. It really makes us all appreciate the amazing work.
I love watching their videos where they go over the stunts of MCU movies. However, I wonder why they didn't make a video for the Black Widow movie yet.
I loved how different each fight scene’s choreography felt really from each other but still made sense story wise. And daaaaang the the airbending fights made me so excited for the Avatar live action series fights

You can see Chris wearing a corridor animé shirt in the BTS on Disney+ which is dope :p.
4:41 Another reason why that glass breaking might be satisfying is that it happens exactly on beat to the music.
It still blows my mind this content is free. This is incredible and both the guests brought amazing knowledge. Keep it up Corridor!!
I absolutely loved the High-School-project look of the Marvel figures and cutout paper vis.
It proves that the tools are less important than what you can do with them.
Chris and Yung did an AMAZING job on SHANG-CHI!!! Hope both of them are signed onto SHANG-CHI 2!
That midair step-step-kick move with the rings by Shang in the fight against his dad? Just insane, so cool!
Yep! Somebody in theaters said Yo that's a Parry!
I appreciate your Review! Thank you
Shang Chi is definitely my favorite Marvel movie to come out in the last couple of years, so this is great to see. This, and Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
After the fight between the father in the mother, I thought a live action Avatar the Last Airbender could totally work.
Airbending would look totally sick.
I had the exact same thought.
We already did that...
@@KenSahaja I know, but this showed me it can actually look good.
The Airbending from the movie seemed slow and impractical. This was very nice and dynamic.
@@MrSirFluffy totally!
I gotta give it to cap vs bucky, but shang chi is a close second forsure
To me, winter soldier was better because the choreo was less obstructed by CG. There was so much dust and desaturated shots in the final fight.
Yes
"We are only as good as they allow us to be..." might be the biggest flex I ever heard that still feels earned.
Yea loved that
Massive achievement by these guys, the hard work and passion for sure bled through the screen, great film.
Shang-chi and the choreography around the fights was just amazing 🙌🏼 the whole movie was just awesome! Especially Trevor Slattery 😂🙌🏼
Dope seeing all the love that went into this first Shang Chi movie. Hope Shang Chi is around for a long time
Finally! I've been waiting to see them break this down together since I saw Chris's Instagram posts at the premiere. It's so freaking cool that we get to see both a vfx AND stunts breakdown on this movie :D
I had no idea Chris worked on this! I've been such a big fan of his since those Street Fighter finisher videos so this just makes so much sense!
My theater was laughing almost every time Trevor was on screen! I'm glad I can share it with everyone! 💍x10
Nice channel! I love those audience reactions.
You should get Martial Club onto the show. They have a martial arts/ stunt choreography channel on TH-cam and the channel owner, Andy Le, was Death Dealer in Shang-Chi
They could break down both this film and Paper Tigers, and maybe some of their short films
That would be great. Andy Le also doubles for young Shang Chi during a flashback.
Just rewatched Dredd and holy crap I'd love to see how a lot of that stuff is done! It aged well too. Still looks great!
Ask Gavin Free how he did the slow mo
The minigun scene is beautiful but horrifying.
Chris is a God at cinematography. His channel will always stick with me for the amazing things he and his team put out.
4:44 are we not going to talk about the cool tunnel transition? SUCH an awesome way to change the scenery lighting without forcing it to be outside in a single lighting setting.
Seeing and hearing the pride in their voices lifted my spirits and I absolutely needed it today! You all rock so much!
I like how the glass breaking is perfectly on beat with the soundtrack at 4:42.
Corridor Crew is Killing it with the reactions and other content lately! Keep Up The Good Work!!🔥🔥
That bajiquan elbow strike while putting the jacket on was 👏👏👏
3:34 completely agree with you there Niko, I just think it's a shame he felt like the script/narrative demoted him to a lesser supporting role, like, it's an origin story intended to introduce us to his character, engage us in his journey and showcase everything he is about.... surely I'm not the only one who thought there should have been more focus on him
I love that Marvel brought together so many young and new people and just gave them to do whatever they think is best!
Shang chi was a surprisingly good film. The fight scenes were actually awesome.
Yeah, I was actually surprised how much I liked the film. Didn't have high expectation, so was pleased, lol...
Yea i thought it would be like those jackie chan movies but it was EPIC! i forgot it was even marvel!
@@Backroad_Junkie Sometimes I actually prefer going in with lower expectations so I can be pleasantly supprised but not disappointed. Hopefully no way home is just as good. But I guess time will tell.
One thing I found to be really awesome was the use of visual elements to explain what was happening. Instead of someone pointing and shouting. "Hey the bus is gonna split."
What did you find caught your attention?
Well yeah, they did bring some people that worked with Jackie Chan so it paid off immensely
Everyone’s praising the choreography (which dont get me wrong is amazing) but can we please appreciate the freakin soundtrack for a moment? Shang chi’s soundtrack bangs
HEAT has one of the most iconic shootouts in cinema history.
The fact that TH-cam and Hollywood is blending so much lately is awesome, MartialClub, Andy Lee, And this guys!?
God I am so happy for so much talent reunited!!!
The VFX in this movie are some of the best to date in my eyes, I've yet to see it but from what I've seen it's incredible work.
This is obscenely AWESOME!!! Love that you managed to get these two wonderful guys to talk about Shang Chi and they gave such great insight.
Also, Niko, my wife and I also wondered about the flirty smile thing as well. lol
You guys should next do a Reaction video to VFX in Music videos
This was so educational, the behind-the-scenes knowledge I LIVE for.
Nice to see some behind the scenes. I just saw Shang Chi this past Friday and its bin the best all year
The results are always amazing whenever filmmakers allow stuntmen to do what they do best.
Lol I love that Chris snuck in that UA shot.
As a boy from asia, I watched Jackie chan my whole childhood...... But honestly to me.... Now matter how good the choreography is in this movie, nothing beated Jackie.
Of course, no argument Jackie Chan is a whole other level. But you should take inspiration from the best.
Same! The guy is so talented! So proud of him, such an amazing movie
You guys should definitely make a "Directors react to bad & great plots", i'd love to watch!
So many greats and legends worked on this Brad Allen, Yuen Wah, Michelle Yeoh, Tony Leung, Andy Le, etc. it’s phenomenal! Eastern action meets Western film. Can never go wrong with Eastern action!
This has been by far one of the funnest and best episodes yet. I love the stuntmen react videos.
Thanks!
The more I learn about the filmmaking process behind Shang-Chi, the more I love this film.
This was a privilege to watch. The closing words about passion and throughout the enthusiasm is awesome. Thank y'all 👏🙌
When I was watching the Assembled episode aka the behind the scenes of Shang-Chi the moment I saw Chris I got so hyped 1 cause he’s amazing and 2 cause I knew who he was from this show haha!
And now I’m getting the reverse cause I saw Yung in the behind the scenes and now I’m seeing him here!
Those guys are amazing, I absolutely love their work. So happy they worked on Shang-Chi!
That fight between shang chi's parents is easily top 3 fights in the MCU
Arcane just released it's last episodes and it was awesome! I would love your guys' insight into the animation and style of Arcane.
Ha. Was about to watch ep 7 but stopped to watch this
Some things about big budget movies are so informal, I love it.
Yea this movie was just so well executed on all fronts. I hope it continues to remind execs to let the experts do what they do.
Love that guys like this are getting put on Major projects more and more.
Not a gun fight but I'd love to see a reaction to the bar fight from the world's end! I don't know a lot about what makes a fight scene good or bad but, i think that it is at least a lot of fun and I'd love to see what you guys think of it!
Brad Allen (RIP) was the man behind that action. Edgar Wright wanted to pay tribute to Jackie Chan's Drunken Master and you can see it.
It would be cool to see you react to the duel from "Potop", it's really good sword fight (tho technically it's sabers i think)
You gotta react to the *last agni kai fight from ATLA.* It's so stunning! And *Aslan from the Chronicles of Narnia!*
It would be interesting for them to get Kisu in to react to Avatar
RIP Brad Allan... Amazing work and it will live on forever...
Really enjoyed this episode.
My favorite pre 2000 shootout scene as a kid was at the end of Dick Tracy where everyone has a Tommy gun.
"Shang Chi is proof that anime works irl"
Cowboy Bebop: "You sure about that?"
It doesn't predate the 2000s, but you guys *really* should cover "Shoot 'Em Up" with Clive Owen someday. It's a parody of gun-fu movies that also has some of the best gun-fu ever shot.
Love that movie
Gunpower Milkshake is another one in a similar vein. Felt like Shoot Em Up meets John Wick to me
I have several friends who's faith in seeing Marvel movies was revitalized by how good 10 Rings was. We all are very familiar with Hong Kong martial arts movies, and very much appreciated the dedication to making this both a super hero movie and a genuine martial arts movie.
Thank you for all the work that goes into this show, including finding all the reference clips!
Awesome episode, great to see how excited Chris and Yung were working on this
