    On this day, Thursday, March 23, 2023, Elden Ring was shaken by Patch V1.09. This Patch brings serious changes and the experience the game provides will never be the same. In this first overview, I ask myself: What got better? What got worse? And... what got wrecked? Let's take a look.

    @6:00 Don´t forget that the Great Club can also be buffed with weapon buffs, which is huge with orders blade!

      Now, about the Great Club being buffable, I completely forgot. This is a really good point. Even if we just use a Holy Grease, the value we can get from this weapon now is amazing. Thank you for your comment.

    I'm happy for the buffs to Greataxes and Greathammers. Now nearly every heavy weapon type is very much viable for strength builds.
    Did you notice that the Great Mace now gets an S scaling when heavy infused? That was some good stuff!

      I have not checked out the Great Mace yet, but I am happy to hear about this S-Scaling. I have to sit down and go through all my favorite weapons one by one. I also want to set up a nice Great Club build now. Thank you for your comment.

    My wretch is currently using the Bloodhound Fang, so the curved greatsword being buffed was perfect. Also using Bastards Star for my spellblade, the only flail worth using before 1.09, so the buff to flails was nice, even if just to make the weapon class as a whole an actual option.
    Btw, I always appreciate you showing footage of you fighting in the late game areas. I need to catch up on your build videos.

      Bloodhound's Fang is a very good weapon. One of the best for PvE, and that was already before the buffs. Now, with these changes, it gains a lot of speed that combines with it's already considerable damage. It is borderline perfect. If only it had a poke. Thank you for your comment.

    I just tested the great club with order blade buff along side the usual buffs and its so strong, I hit like 4k with a charged R2 now, I think its the new king of unga bunga

    The R2 of the CGS are crazy fast.
    I think they will release a hotfix patch to change this.
    if it's not, CGS is the new meta

    Nice. Another loser for me is less distance when light load. I just love wandering almost naked in the lands between.

      I definitely think that you are right about this.
      That said, I did not want to comment much on it because I honestly have not sat down to see just how much less distance it travels. I will look into this so that I can update my Endurance video.

    Does that mean the highland axe boosts the breaths as well?

      Wow, what a good question! There is nothing in the patch notes that says that the Highland Axe was changed like the Roar Medallion. That said, it is definitely worth it to experiment and see if it work.
      On the other hand, the bonus damage from the Highland Axe is 10%, while the boost from the Dragon Communion Seal is 15%. Regardless of whether the Highland Axe works or not, it is still more efficient to just have two Dragon Communion Seals equipped at the same time.
      For a normal NG, where we only have access to one Dragon Communion Seal, it could definitely have some use.

    The nerf to "two handed jump attacks" in pvp is actually a mistranslation, it's power stance/dual wield jump attacks that were nerfed.

    Godslayer greatsword got even better too this patch. Morgotts curved sword too. It’s so fast now. You forgot about all those winners

      Absolutely. I mentioned in the video that I would not cover all changes as that would lengthen the product. I just went over the ones that caught my eye the most. In general, Curved Greatswords are very good. The tried and true Bloodhound's Fang just keeps getting better, and Radahn's Curved Greatswords are even more fun. A lot of good stuff in this patch.     Something that seems worth noting: within the params, while the Roar Medallion continues to increase the damage of roars by 15%, it's been given a separate SpEffectParam as of the new update that increases the damage of breath attacks by ONLY 10% in PvE and only by as little as 5% in PvP. Which is still a good buff and means that it prob won't be completely overboard for builds that use both roars and dragon breaths, but it's not as big of a buff as you thought it was.

      First of all, thank you for bringing this to my attention. I was not aware of it. Honestly, I don't understand why they would do this but it is what it is. With a 10% boost from the Roar Medallion, the full final damage increase for Dragon Breath Incants totals about 57% instead of the 64% I mention in the video.
      Like you say, it is still a good buff and I believe it is worth using. I just wish they would have left it at full power for PvE, at least. Thank you for your comment and contribution.

      @@FrownyGaming On the upside, they seemed to shadowbuff Twinblade Talisman by a HUGE amount. Went up from 20% damage to a whopping 45%.

      @TarlukLegion So the patch notes are clear on raising the "effectiveness" of the Twinblade Talisman. But 20% to 45% is hilariously stupid. I never used this Talisman. You think it's good now?

      @@FrownyGaming 20% was actually extremely low for the talisman. Landing a final chain hit is pretty hard to do even in PvE, and 20% extra damage on just that final hit (not on any of the hits leading up to it) is a really poor payoff compared to the other weapon talismans that are more like 10-15% extra damage on attacks that are far easier to land and can be executed much more frequently.
      When I published my mod, I actually raised the damage up from 20% all the way to 50% since I figured that'd be the kind of payoff necessary to make it comparable, and it seems like I wasn't too far off from FromSoft's own thoughts there.

    The increase in affinity scaling is 1% I think when I first read the patch notes and seen that i thought of the dark build

      After some more testing, the increase seems to vary on a weapon-per-weapon basis. I have seen some weapons jump a whole letter grade in Scaling. Another viewer mentioned that the Heavy Great Stars goes from a A-Strength to an S-Strength and I was very happy to see this. Thank you for your comment.

    Yo, It really seems like item discovery has been stealth buffed in 1.09. Two different characters, and I have been getting a lot more drops, including rare drops. Could just be crazy luck, but yea it really seems that way to me.

    I don’t keep up with Elden Ring and this is the first time hearing about the Fire’s Deadly Sin exploit. All I gotta say is:

      It's an exploit that has been around since the release of the game. I assume that it took FromSoft a long time to fix because of some technicality that I probably wouldn't be able to understand. It was very popular among some players due to an IGN guide that showed how it's done.
      I hate cheaters and exploits in PvP environments so I am glad that it is gone. Thank you for your comment.

      @@FrownyGaming I raise my brow at it cause it’s a really unfair exploit like you said but deep down I was a little bit happy that this pyromancy was being used since it looked very cool but didn’t have too much practicality.

      Just as a thought, in order to use Fire's Deadly Sin fairly, you can use Cold weapons that inflict Frostbite, then Fire's Deadly Seen inflicts a bit of Fire Damage to remove it, and re-apply with the weapons.
      Also, you might be able to try to "tank" an enemy by always getting the latest hit in order to get their aggression. Maybe that could work.
      Granted, it is not a very easy to use spell, but it can have its uses.

    I still think pvp is a joke in Elden Ring, but this patch is a good improvement for the people who do enjoy it. Maybe the cheaters will need to learn to play now.

      @@FrownyGaming well for starters the bleed support shouldn't been nerfed and over all they got that right thats my one fault the bleed support as it aint game breaking and over all bleed got out damaged so big blow thats about my only thing that should've gotten nerfed as before you could slap someone out of bleed out damage them . and stun lock them so thats about my only feedback i have to state also it wasn't triggering often cause of slow build up .. thats my only things .

      @john ehsman I can understand this. The good thing is that the nerfs to the Bleed support is for PvP only, so the build can still be used at max power in PvE. This makes the nerf apply mostly to situation where phantom hits are a problem. Let's be honest, the network for Souls games is not really good.

      You think that the Rapier nerf was too much? Cleanrot Knight's Sword was really dominant in many different kinds of builds. I think that all the poke weapons were too good, specially when dual wielded. I believe that the nerf was warranted. Thank you for your comment.
