After completing plab exams it will take nearly 8 years to become a proper consultant.untill we pass mrcp and become a consultant our life is not settled,we can't able to think about marriage, visiting parents and other personal and family stuff..is the the situation or what I am thinking is wrong ? The core training, speciality training, would be held in the same hospital or do we have to undergo training in different hospitals?
Every trust has multiple hospitals under it in the same catchment area. Smaller towns end up having one big hospital. Benefit of training in bigger cities is more patient exposure, more sub speciality teams you get exposed to and better learning opportunities in general.

There is nothing like that. You have to clear the PLAB, then you have to go for interviews at various hospitals' residency programs

I am currently interning in India, will appear for PLAB sooner rather than later with an ambition of becoming a general surgeon. Will be looking forward to more such videos.
Don’t think getting surgery is possible through plab. Almost impossible for IMGs .

Please check GMC website for information on dates. That website is your best bet when it comes to updated information on dates and things. You anyway would be booking your exam via GMC website.
so in India about 70% seats are reserved so i would rather try PLAB than prepare for PG in India

Give yourself ample time in between taking the classes and giving the exam. Practice practice practice. That’s the key.

Hello mam, do the examiners in plab prefer those who are currently working in some or the other clinical setup ? I mean i m currently not working just preparing at home... Do i have to do housejob or anything to be preferred or have an edge over other.. do the examiners consider all this??
Examiners don’t know who you are, where you are from, what you are doing outside that GMC building other than your candidate number.

Because of COVID-19 restrictions in China, Chinese medical students are required to complete their one-year internship in another country. There isn’t much information out regarding UKMLA except for the bit I said in the video. As PLAB is still being conducted. Hopefully in 2 years time they will release more information.

The process of becoming a consultant has got nothing to do with royal college exams. You need to do core training and then speciality training to becomes a consultant. Also, they don’t recognise post graduation from other countries here for you to become a consultant. For you to be a consultant here you need to train here. You could be a middle grade doctor here if you have trained outside. Or apply for CESR pathway to become a consultant. It’s a long explanation, I will make further videos later. In the meanwhile GMC website has all answers to your queries. Feel free to check.

You could join a group on Facebook called PLAB. A lot of study material is on it in files section. You could alternatively ask people there as a lot has changed since I gave the exam 3+ years back.

I think GMC deals with each case individually. So you need to have a valid explanation for all kinds of gaps. Also, you would need to complete internship and get your degree before booking PLAB.

@@Drzeezy thank you... there is not much information on internet regarding this topic... i was preparing for post graduate entrance exams in my home country but it got delayed because of covid.. and now i have a clinical break of 2 years... so i have recently joined a job just for c.v.... is it worth it?.. managing job and study is a task in itself... also if you could share info on how much time is required to acquire a job after g.m c registration and can we give interviews from our home country or do we have to travel there and live on our own expenses?..
You can give interviews remotely. How much time it will take for you to secure a job depends on well you do in job interviews. Can’t put a time on that!

You can do PLAB as soon as you complete your MBBS provided you graduated from a university accepted by GMC
And I am a bonded candidate under 2 years compulsory rural services after MBBs. Am I still allowed to give PLAB???

You need your primary medical qualification (PMQ) which I am assuming one receives post their internship completion to appear for PLAB. So, to answer your question.. yes.

You mentioned about some academies in uk which trains FMGs for plab 2. What is the period of training and expense in such academies?
Information must be online regarding fees. Not too sure how much these academies charge.. but duration would be 2 weeks of the course (mostly). Along with 2-3 weeks of mocks. Plus I would suggest you practice for a few weeks.

Hello. I am in 5th year of medicine. Ukraine has a 6year medicine program.I had to come back due to the ongoing war. Ukraine continues to conduct classes online. Hi sis. I do have one doubt do any college from India are eligible to give plab exam after mbbs. Becoz for usmle only those colleges which are named in ecfmg and world health organization list are eligible.
