FINALLY!!!! The FAA grants less freedom to drone fliers than the Chinese Communist Party. The same party censoring TH-cam, imprisoning Uyghurs, and suppressing hong kong protests is more lenient to drone operators than the aviation agency of the so-called "land of the free"

Thanks for this. Thanks to Tyler and RDQ for stepping up to the fight. I’m former law enforcement. I guarantee there will be confrontations with this and the outcome could be serious injury or death. I’ve seen human nature when emotions get heated. The FAA has not considered this properly and they will face a massive lawsuit if their ruling results in injury or death. Keep up the good fight.

Thank for starting this fight. I absolutely hate the idea of some stranger with a smart phone being able to find out where I am when flying my drone. I’ve already turned down several jobs within a certain city because I wouldn’t feel safe without a wingman with a 9mm. With the addition of someone finding me with the app as well, no thanks.

    Good interview! Gods speed Tyler...
The FAA is out of its mind and the word overstepping is putting it lightly. Allow Karen to track me and come harass me while I'm out flying in a location? Brilliant!!! I choose some locations for the reason that there is nobody there to bother me and nobody to be bothered by me. This will change now and if this continues in this direction we all may as well be microchipped. That sounds crazy right? Well so does sharing my location with the public where I am flying with my toys that are worth a lot of money.

I am so happy to hear this news. I never understood how the FAA feels that they can regulate R/C model aircraft. Plus, aircraft are not supposed to fly below 500ft, UAV’s are not supposed to fly above 400ft. Geofencing and altitude limits would cover most of the safety issues. Not invasion of privacy and costs to the UAV pilots.

But as you pointed out broadcast is not just a digital license plate, and opens up many dangers when controller location is included.

Thanks Russ for getting this interview out.... Remote ID definitly has the all the makings for government overreach on a hobby that does not have a history for concern on manned aviation above the rules already in place for those that follow the rules.... There will always be those individuals that do not follow the rules or have nefarious intents like in any other activities we humans participate in. Remote ID will not stop people who do not register, would not equipped their drone with Remote ID devices, Fly above 400' AGL, do not have a visual observer, flying NFZs, Do not follow TFRs, or fly BVLOS. Its even possible to build a drone that is not communicating to licensed FCC frequencies.... We can even get people to wear a firkin mask during a pandemic... Most follow the rules in place already, especially the Part 107 pilots and actually Remote ID for BVLOS Commercial Part 107 would be good for the industry. Its the hobby that does not make sense. Most GPS Camera Drone and FPV pilots fly low to the ground to get incredible video or have fun racing. Nothing interesting above 400' AGL, miss well just go to Goggle earth then. Okay, I'm done blabbering....LOL

Thanks so much for presenting this. The FAA were hell bent on implementing remote ID, perhaps driven by the government who saw easy dollars from commercializing the sub 400ft airspace. The public consultation was merely an annoying formality and was largely ignored. It is a ridiculous idea to even consider regulating this airspace as it includes cranes, birds, kites and any activity that may involve something tall, apart from the hobby which we love. It is an invasion of the right to do things in the airspace outside your own front door. Please support this young man. I certainly will

  • @WineWorldTV

Nice video. As far as the quality of your side, it's fine. Video quality is tricky with these types of virtual meeting calls. The thing with Zoom, AFAIK, is that the entire video is recorded on their server. So you are at the mercy of the connection quality between you, your guest(s) and Zoom. Depending on the computer you are using and software, the actual video resolution will have limitations. There are a lot of things that can affect AV quality.
If you're straight recording into Zoom, Skype, etc. with any kind of webcam setup, no matter what camera, and you are using a Mac, 720p is the best you're going to get. The workaround is to use OBS and it will record at least at 1080p, and probably 4k. I haven't tested 4k. You can also record your half of the call locally (on the camera) and then combine it with your guest(s) videos. This is how people who do this regularly get that crystal clear image. If all parties involved do this, then it's even better. Then you use the video conference software to sync everything in post. This means that your guest(s) will need to send you their file via something like Dropbox.
For Windows, I'm pretty sure webcams don't have the same hardware/software limitations that Macs do. There's no technical reason for this on the Mac side. I truly don't understand Apple's 720p cap. Even their new M1 MBPs are capped at 720p. It's a great looking 720p due to some of the same computational videography magic they do on the iPhones, but it's still 720p.
Capture devices like those from Elgato and Black Magic are a way to get 1080p and 4k from a DSLR/Mirrorless. Or using something like EpocCam on an iPhone (no 4k). I did an episode of my newer YT channel Behind the Green Screen about this (Episode #3).
The content of this video was great and, again, your video quality, and Tyler's was fine given how Zoom records these calls.

That's bullshit!!!!!! The FAA shouldn't be able to force drone pilots to go through all this crap, especially when there's a whole lot of people who have drones that struggled to even be able to afford a drone, and now if they make everyone do this and we have to get a new drone with remote ID capabilities, then a lot of people aren't going to be able to afford it! It's already hard enough for me to have a drone, which took a lot of work for me to get the money together to be able to afford a drone, which I'm Disabled and can't work anymore, I haven't been able to work since 2008, and in 2009 I filed for Disability, but year after year for the past 11 years I've been denied even though I have all the medical evidence to prove my case, but that's the good ole crooked and corrupt Government for you, so I struggle just to survive! Without me being able to fly my drone, then I'll be seriously pissed off, because I have mental health issues, me being able to fly my drone gives me a little piece of mind, it helps me relax, and from what I can see, it looks like they're going to screw up my life even more than they already are!
The Government is out of control, they are getting away with whatever they want to, like they did when they started the DMV corporation, which they created to be able to suck the money out of the American people, forcing us to get a driver's license, tags and insurance, which never used to be years ago, which a whole lot of people are refusing to get a driver's license, tags and insurance, they don't want their rights taken away from them like the Government has been doing. It's all just another way for the Government having a way to keep us under control and being able to keep tabs on everything we do, it's sickening!!! The Government should just leave us alone, unless we are doing something to hurt ourself or others, but I know that I'm not doing anything wrong to hurt myself or others. It's all just a bunch of BULLSHIT to screw with us and making it harder for the less fortunate people to have a little fun once in awhile!

  • @Ryder_Studios
    @Ryder_Studios 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Not to mention that the FAA is circumventing the Supreme Court ruling that says personal device data is private (Carpenter vs United States). By forcing us to broadcast the data publicly. If this is allowed that opens the door for the NHTSA to require auto manufacturers broadcast location data publicly, or the FCC requiring cell phone manufacturers broadcast location. This will not end if the FAA isn't stopped now!

It is very unfortunate. Yes, remote ID was one of the reasons but it was not all. I am also very disappointed at DJI. Every drone since Mavic Air that they released no longer supports native waypoints. Instead they released SDK that would allow companies like Litchi to utilize virtual stick. I am sorry, but virtual stick is not good enough. It is like going a step backwards. If I am spending so much money on a drone, I want it to inherit all capabilities of previous drones. I was also put back by information that DJI was providing drones to Chinese government to conduct human right abuses. So those three things got me away from the hobby that I love: 1. Remote ID requirements, 2. No Native Waypoint Support on new DJI drones and 3. DJI's participation in human rights abuse that Chinese government is conducting. Tyler..I will chip in some money to help you fight FAA in court. Great job man! You are our only hope.

Happy that someone is fighting for us. I understand that they are competitors, but I would like to see GetFPV join RDQ in this.
If they see two competitors joining forces it will really stick out.

They also need to define what constitutes a business. For instance: if your hobby doesn’t make $400 a year, you don’t have a business. My “hobby” that I want to use my drone for has made me 50 cents a year for the last twelve years (on average), but I can’t film with my drone and put it on TH-cam because it’s “furtherance of a business” (because I sell my music online). This is FAA/government overreach.

Once your done in America, do you want to come to Australia and work on the licence and registration system for all drones. It is legaly required already to have a licence and registration for any drone or remote aircraft to fly, however there is no way to apply for said licence and registration.

I'm going to need to research this a bit more now that I finally got into drones and excitedly awaiting it to arrive. What I do know is that these kinds of rulings shouldn't include recreational or content creators and basic photography, where the drones are likely within line of sight, etc. They should include flying above certain elevations, distances, specific locations (certain buildings, events, etc.) in a content ID system, but otherwise the regulations should be rather relaxed.
People are already harassed just for being in public areas (you'll get a gun pointed at you for using certain public access trails, throughways, etc.), for hammocking in certain spaces (where laying out a blanket and laying on the blanket is still allowed?), among other things (heck, there is even a hate group going after "ex-mormons" for leaving the religion). People are harassed for even explicitly legal activities all the time.
Drone users will be harassed by certain individuals with this FAA overstep.

I'm not a drone pilot but do fly RC Helicopters. It's a sad day that a few have ruin this hobby (regardless of what you fly). Myself have too much money invested in pod & boom birds plus scale helicopters. So, I fly like the real ones and have taken great pain to follow the AMA rules and guidelines to the letter. Wish Tyler the very best in this lawsuit.

Recommendation for Tyler : Avoid the UMs and UHs, when they are not present, listeners will believe in the confidence of information being spoken.

There is a good chance you need a faster laptop. My desktop runs it fine but my 4K TV struggles with 4K 60 fps so I convert it to 4K 30 fps and it works fine. Try using Handbrake to down convert it to 2.7K 60 fps or even 30 fps, see if that helps. Try it on a faster system as well to see if that helps.

@@robripingill4897 Handbrake is a video transcoding application. You can Google "Handbrake download", drag and drop a video to test it out. Set it to output x264 or x264, and whatever FPS and resolution you want to try. There are some guides on setting it up, it is pretty easy to use.
