Enjoyed your video as usually! Lovely spot, nice little stream. The last time I camped with my daughters by the sea, it was a hell of a storm and downpour, and they liked it better than any peace and calm)))) The tent held up, and we ended up sleeping as babies! Thnx for your video, dude!
What you've done with that tarp is amazing. And, thanks for showing the set up in a way that a regular dude like me can understand it and not be pre-discouraged to try it out.
Thanks man! That's such a nice compliment. That configuration is called "tarp tent" and it's actually not hard to set up. The only problem being you don't have a floor, but I just lay a small ground tarp down.
@@OutlawCamper good luck, If I was to use it for a long term, like 3 to 4 days I would want a floor placed down, I use a horse blanket that's very light weight maybe less then a pound, I place that down then my mattress which is light weight compact, blow it up, sleeping bag, makes for a comfy bed... hope you figured it out.. Haha I've had to answer for this one a lot 🤣 A buddy of mine was camped farther in and saw me on the hike out. We decided to go in to town and grab food but he had to wait for me to tear down. He has the MSR HUBBA HUBBA and it pops up in like literally 60 seconds. He threw it up to put his gear in since it was raining. You can also see his foot in my sign off at the end.
Never had a rock explode in a fire pit but I've definitely had them split into pieces, multiple times. Usually don't find out until we take the pit apart or put the fire out.

If rocks could soak up water, they would be sponges or popcorn and I don't think they are either. What rocks do is hold heat so that when it is cold you can heat some rocks in the fire and put them under your bedding. Might be fun to experiment.
After I uploaded this, I saw a video from Corporal's Corner. He was saying that in 20 years outdoors, he's never seen a rock explode. He said sometimes they crack and that's it. So I'll probably just go ahead and use the river rocks in the future.

I wished I could come and hang out and camp with you for a few days, do some hiking.... Hey Regina! I live in Toledo OH. So all my videos so far are northern Ohio, Southern MI. Haha I love Canada, but I'm American. Hey by the way the rain camping video is up.
People are so worried about carona. Ill never get carona. I buy Budweiser. Umm redds black chery ale is as dangerous as twisted tea if not more dangerous. Yummy stuff.
Not usually, but once in a while. I'm spacing out 6 beers over a 4-5 hour period and also a little bit of bourbon of course (banana flask). Plus I try to drink at least a liter of water, sometimes two. So it works out pretty well most of the time.
Yeah, so last night. I'm a pretty large man at 6' 2" and 273 lbs. But even with a powerful AR-15, whatever was in the darkness by the carport made me chicken out, and since I have an elderly dad with dementia to worry about, I think I wisely decided to return inside and call 911. Two sheriff's deputies were dispatched to respond, and while they saw no one, they did inform me that they also heard strange noises, but that they were coming from deeper in the woods surrounding my property. One of the deputies was a K-9 officer and he walked his dog to the perimeter of the woods, at which point the dog refused to go any further. This is what the officer told me later. Thank God for first responders, but it was (and) still remains a strange and spooky situation. They took a report and said to call again if I experienced anything else that was odd. I think I want to move to town now. Lol
I may be commenting twice on your videos as I am beginning to watch them again. We have a large game management area near my home but camping is only allowed in designated areas. Thats not good as the alcoholics and dopers continually roam these areas on four wheelers at night. I would have to stealth camp away from these areas to feel safe.
Yeah that's not good at all! Some of these areas can definitely be dangerous. I've never had an issue here. Almost 100% of people I encounter are day hikers from the city or hunters. They've all been super nice.
I don't understand these bushcraft channels that think they need to be so diligent about the fire. As long as it's out and can't start a fire after you leave, the coals are good for the soil. Nothing about that fire is anything that wasn't already there. Besides, in a few days, most of the signs of a fire will be gone anyway.
@@bubblehed738 No I've never been out that far before. I live in Toledo, so I spend most of time in the surrounding areas. This video was shot on a 2600 hunting preserve in Southern Michigan, so we do have some neat outdoor spaces near us. Just have to know where to look 😉
For one thing, it's to insure nothing remains hot, small critters will rummage through the coals especially if there was any food cooked over the fire, plus a pile of coals can be a bit messy if you don't notice them when setting up camp, especially when tarping.
If you're in Michigan, why aren't you camping in The Manistee-Huron National Forest? 2 separate forests sharing the same name. The Huron National forest is on the East Side of Michigan while the Manistee National Forest is on the westside of the state. Going to a Hunting preserve is just lazy. Lol
