The thing that I love about the B-52s is that on all the recordings, videos, and even live, they seem to be having the most fun of anybody there, which really translates into the feel of their music.
OK. But I'd say the opposite. What I find compelling about the B-52s live is that they never smile, and never waver from the seriousness of their performance. In interviews they (Kate especially) is always smiling and happy. But when doing to the songs. . . . total seriousness and professionalism, lest anyone think that Private Idahos and Rock Lobsters and dancing all 16 dances and moons in the sky are less than serious!

This omits the countless number of appearances, after 2008+, they made playing at state fairs, and casinos. The Boomers and their grandchildren were dancing everywhere. One of the many excellent bands to come out of Georgia during the 70s and 80s...LOVE these guys; I love their style, music and them, for just being themselves during a time when I'm sure some gave them a lot of s- for being different. Respect.
Man, the theme parties (Gidget Goes to Africa!) we used to throw in the early 80s, the fun we used to have dancing and being goofballs to this album and this song! Saw them live at their height in 1984, great band, music and time that I miss.

Did the venue allow them to play "Rock Lobster" or would that have caused a dangerous level of dancing that mess around as it (apparently) occasionally did in the States?
They were just right out there doing their own thing. Loved their dancy individual sound. Absolute legends. I went to see them on their last tour of Europe at Newcastle upon Tyne {Sage}. Brilliant night out. 👍🏆🎼🎤🔊
An absolute masterpiece that I had just discovered! This song defines my best friends family! Both parents were and raised on a cornfield in Iowa. Where they never met an Asian or Hispanic. An ultra conservative, homophobic, ultra religious family of basic blonde bimbo’s. I cannot blame them for being this way. It is their upbringing, and they are good hearted but judgmental. They barely tolerate me because I am a homosexual male who lives by great morals. They ridicule my beloved best friend for being an unusual individual of genius; Every DAY! Derek and are singing our hearts out to this at our favorite karaoke joint in our city of Dallas! Wish us luck y’all!
When I was in college there was a big outdoor concert in San Marcos outside of Austin TX and they were there. I remember being a rocker and assuming they would suck. It was a great show. Energetic and good band. Was very surprised and became a fan. This would be 1982!

The Boomers and their grandchildren were dancing everywhere. Many for first time at a live B52's event... sadly for most of us it was the last.
The loss of Kate's brother reflects on her and the rest of the band. We, the fans, notice and morn the loss to this day.
GRACIAS MI ESTIMADO POR LOS DATOS , SIN DUDA LOS B52 SON UNA BANDA QUE MARCO ÉPOCA E HIZO BAILAR Y DELIRAR A MUCHAS GENERACIONES,, TREMENDA BANDA OCHENTERA
Five talented people came together and made the eighties great!
Thanks, B-52s!
Loved seeing you in Irvine, CA!
Not to mention the 70's, 90's and, well, we're still listening to them today.
This is a Fun band!!! can’t sit still at their shows..I always ❤️ Cindy Wilson 🥰🥰🥰
She doesn't get as much credit as Kate yet was absolutely vital in helping create their signature sounds including those amazing vocal harmonies! She kind of looks miserable during their more recent Vegas performance which saddens me. Even Fred looks bored. But Kate is still way into it and it shows.
The fuc#%$ng capos of the New Wave
The frontman was amazing and the concept of the band and their sound was fantastic!
Special mention to the guitar like sounds like a bass
Who doesn't love a babe who can dance?! Cindy is so hot!
The whole band is hot fire. Beautiful bunch of weirdos.
Maybe a coke diet no Pepsi lol , no ill words intended , if you did any music successful, you did what everyone everywhere was lol , and whats this lyrics about, is it underground as in back then the militia and stuff was heavy
Hot fire as opposed to the not-so-hot. But yeah, your point is well-taken.
Cindy is so beautiful! ❤
I spent a few years living in Idaho.
Who's listening in Idaho in 2023 ?
Apparently the answer to that is private
Right now… 2:09 AM… bottle of Sauvignon Blanc in … December 8, 2023 … who isn’t ????
One of my Favourites 😂
A wild potato?
Die Haare von der Frau😂😂😂😂
One of the many excellent bands to come out of Georgia during the 70s and 80s...LOVE these guys; I love their style, music and them, for just being themselves during a time when I'm sure some gave them a lot of s- for being different. Respect.
Coworker got me into ARS last year.
Cindy Wilson and Kate Pierson are wonderful.
Man, the theme parties (Gidget Goes to Africa!) we used to throw in the early 80s, the fun we used to have dancing and being goofballs to this album and this song! Saw them live at their height in 1984, great band, music and time that I miss.
Loooooooooooooooove them.
best harmonies in pop music !!
Damn straight. Kate and Cindy: the Dynamic Duo of electrifying harmonies.
This song makes me happy.
Kate's hair wasn't a B-52,it was an entire squadron. I love the 60's women's hairdos.
The Wilsons really shine in this one.
Cindy and Ricky shine indeed, but then, so does everyone else in the lineup.
Yo bailaba en los 80:s con esa música empezaba mis fiestas de adolecente y saltaba en minifalda como la cantante de blanco y ese dísco duraba una eternidad
Good memories dancing with my friends at the Fair in Albrook, Panama back in the 80 😁
Cindy Wilson was my crush then , love the 80s
Este grupo fue todo un suceso, que lindos recuerdos haya por 1983 en los bailes escolares y reuniones de familia y con amigos del barrio
geniales
De verdad geniales.
That was a good time of life!
Allá
Still have the 1st two albums in Vinyl, I"ve loved them since the beginning got to see them twice in athe same yr @ the Forum, you never sit down & dance, dance, dance....
Perfect.
We saw these guys in about 1980 in Sydney....Hordern Pavillion......1 BIG PARTY !!! I reckon 80% of the crowd were smashed on all sorts of lovely stuff.....1 big dance party....awesome!!!!
💯🎊
Did the venue allow them to play "Rock Lobster" or would that have caused a dangerous level of dancing that mess around as it (apparently) occasionally did in the States?
En 2023 los 80's siguen siendo super actuales viva B 52👍😎
They were just right out there doing their own thing. Loved their dancy individual sound. Absolute legends. I went to see them on their last tour of Europe at Newcastle upon Tyne {Sage}. Brilliant night out. 👍🏆🎼🎤🔊
Rock & Roll, New Wave, and Surf music all meet together= B52s
Annnd still loving it. In a league of their own.
Some of the wildest and most under rated guitar riffs. Plus it's just a great fcuking song.
where is a time machine, when you need it? Screw it back, let them write new songs! And let let these two godesses sing forever.
Abso-fing-lutely!
This band is so beyond everything. I'm so glad I started listening to more of their catalogue.
One of the very best songs WORLDWIDE, ... and I'm a Metal-Fan!
This is how Punk Rock started!!!! Love the B-52’s!!!!!! I used to dance like Kate and Cindy!!!!! Great old days!
They ridicule my beloved best friend for being an unusual individual of genius;
Every DAY!
Derek and are singing our hearts out to this at our favorite karaoke joint in our city of Dallas!
Wish us luck y’all!
Perhaps the most intimate and revealing B-52s social commentary posted in this forum.
Tremendos ...que gran banda ..saludos de Argentina 🇦🇷👏 2021
This is so awesome! Loved it when it came out and it still rocks!
I'm right there with you!
Grew up in da 80's. You could have groups in the same genre of music, and still be unique. B-52's kicked all the azz !
Always a tonic for cloudy days. They made me smile everytime.
Driving around in my Pontiac firebird with my beasties and going to riverside drive -playing Frisbee and hacky sac.....oh them good old days
When I was in college there was a big outdoor concert in San Marcos outside of Austin TX and they were there. I remember being a rocker and assuming they would suck. It was a great show. Energetic and good band. Was very surprised and became a fan. This would be 1982!
Well of course you were surprised (in a positive manner). The B-52s are dope AF.
I listened to symphonic rock, but secreteley love B52s
They are still simply "off the charts."
Yes, these two harmonize perfectly...
absolutely combination those two
Damn straight, waggsish! Electrifying harmonies evoking jolting waves of pure musical ecstasy!
So great band... I was in love with Kate Pierson's voice (and hair)...
"We've all got wigs so let's go!"
B52s Kept us on the dance floor 80s .
Luv watching the 2 ladies
Tengo 54 años y cuando los escuche dije estos son viajeros en el tiempo, eran del futuro y lejano, a lo que siempre escuche.
B52's music will never be old nor will it ever go out of style. I've never caught myself asking, "What were they thinking?" hearing them in different settings over the decades. Always a welcome sound!
I LOVED B-52s ...EXELLENT AND MAGNIFICENT MUSIC...VOCAL AND MUSIC ...GREETINGS FROM POLAND MAREK...LOVE SHACK ...YEAH
Just so damn good!
Oh man what a grounding experience, B52s grinding out a real awesome song indelibly etched on my soul. Long live the B52s
Amen
If you were fortunate to have seen the B 52’s with Ricky on guitar and Keith on drums, then you saw magic😎
I saw them perform at Jay's Longhorn in Minneapolis. Small venue, amazing show.
B-52. Really bombed us with a different sound ....and good songs
