Man Brother Rob, the insight you provided here in regard to Timothy growing up as a young child been born to a Jewish Mother and Grandmother who raised him up in the ways of their God, and Timothy growing up to love the ways of YAH, but unfortunately possibly growing up being rejected or outcast because his father was a Greek, and therefore living with the idea that he could never truly or fully be a Servant of the God he truly loved and admired. Because possibly he could never fully participate at the synagogues or be called by a Rabbi to follow him, so Paul takes this Young Man, whom has such a Love for God, whom the congregation both from Lystra and Iconium spoke highly about, and affirmed in his identity as a Child of the Most High God whom Timothy loves deeply! Wow :_( that imagery of Paul taking him in a fathering Timothy brought a tear to my eye... Thank you for that insight Brother!

Wasn’t Timothy technically Jewish because his mother was Jewish??? Timothy not being circumcised was likely a result of him having a Greek father who likely didn’t find it important to circumcise his son. Paul having Timothy circumcised shows that he was helping Timothy set the record straight as far as who he was.

No, Jewish linage going through a mother didn't become a thing until the middle ages. In the first century all linage was determined by the father's side.

@@MessiahMatters So, what about the lineage of Jesus?? He’s from the “seed of David” and while both Joseph and Mary are both of the tribe of Judah, we know that Joseph wasn’t part of this equation.

@@ALTheFreeMan Yet, Matthew gives the linage of Joseph. Why? Because legally Joseph was Yeshua's father, which means that from a legal perspective, Yeshua was from his line and was considered 100% his son.
