    Listening on studio monitors here and I have to give it to the 8060 for edging out the 416 in particular. As you said the 416 was developed in the 1970s and given a high range boost to cut through the old analogue tape recordings, the 8060 sounds more like its ready for the digital world.

    8060 then 416 and finally Sanken . This is the 1,2,3 for me.

    I own and use the Cs1e and the 416. The Sanken is unbelievable for size cost and natural sound without hype. The reach is also kind of ridiculous and as a camera mic way more usable size wise. Sanken is under marketed and all of their mics are really really quality instruments. 416 is a classic for many reasons and is outstanding outside.

      Is the Cs1e an outdoor boom mic ? Does the dpa 4017 have longer reach ?

    You should mainly notice the difference between the 8060 and the 416 in a sound isolation booth at very high gain (like 60db). The 8060 should have significantly less self-noise.

  • @klajdi9999
    @klajdi9999 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    all 3 are great sound but 8060 sounds more close to your mouth and this is important if you want to use as shotgun. next difference i think is that 8060 has less floor noise than 416.

    The Sanken CS-1e has a sound that would be the least fatiguing long-term (less tinny and or harsh) but they all sound so similar

    I would suggest:
    buy them all!
    They are all great.
    If you buy only one ... no problem, you'll make the rest with an equalizer 😉
    But after one year ... you already took your decision.

      I settled on the Sanken due to the smaller size and lower cost and I felt like it complimented my voice best. You make a great point though. Thanks for ckecking out my video

      @@matthewlee2957 Yes, it was a pleasure. I found your video by 'coincidence' ... and believe me:
      brands of microphones are overrated. I have them all and with a good equalizer we can make magic.
      It's like a Steinway & Sons: when you know how to play it (configure the equalizer) you can make magic 😉

    Close tie between the Sanken and the 8060, the 416 can't compete. But off axis the Sanken is more forgiving and sounds better, has also less proximity effect.

  • @b1annk
    @b1annk 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    This video is decently old so you've probably already made your decision, but what I would say is since the mkh 416 is a longer microphone it would be Better for Outdoor and indoor usage (since it's not super long, so the indoor usage would be manageable in comparison to longer shotgun Mics) but the other short ones would be better for indoor only usage. This is because the longer the microphone is the longer the interference tube is, and that means that more Reflections from the room are going to be bouncing back into the mic leading to a less preferable natural sound, the shorter it is, is better for indoor usage. This is also why when you go off axis with the 416, it becomes tinny. It is rejecting your voice because of its longer interference tube ( basically, it has better background rejection). If you want a mic for every single use case, you probably want to stick with the mkh 416. If you want one only for indoor usage, you should use the smaller mics. Either way, I would go with one of the sennheisers, but they all sound amazing, and the majority of people listening will not be able to tell the difference.

      @@b1annk yeah, thanks for the comment. Super interesting to hear your thoughts. Yeah I agree with everything you said and it’s clear you’re quite experienced. I do primarily use it for indoor and I ended up going with the Sanken just for the lower cost and effect on my personal voice.

      I was positive I wanted the 8060 for its dynamic range (mostly presence) and compact size. But after lots of testing, I decided that my voice sounds best on the Sanken as it doesn’t pick up the nasally aspect that I feel is unflattering. I intend on using mostly for my voice. Plus the lower cost

  • @Gj8355r
    @Gj8355r ปีที่แล้ว +2

    CS-1e & 8060 trumps the legend 416. CS-1e has a higher gain hence less drive on the SD mic-pres hence less surrounding atmos is captured. Tried & tested on the field. No competition

      I agree. I tried to put some sanken o-rings on the 8060 so it would fit sungly into my sony on camera mic mount, and they stripped the damn coating off! Never had that issue when I had the 416.
