Fabulous 1st time reaction to The Warning Cee!
The Villarreal sisters are amazing songwriters and performers. Each one of their original songs is great. Their second album, "Queen of the Murder Scene", is a concept album. It follows a girl's journey into unrequited love; from infatuation and obsession on into stalking and murder, then madness and the fight for her soul. It is a masterpiece. It was nominated for Best Rock Album at the 2019 Independent Music Awards. Their 1st full-length LP, "XXI Century Blood", is also very good and is packed with many great songs. The video for the title track, "XXI Century Blood", was nominated for and won many awards. Their very 1st released recordings are from their 6 song EP, "Escape the Mind"; and it is amazing.
Despite being courted by numerous offers from many major record labels, The Warning have stayed independent through the years; relying on crowd funding to finance their projects. They refused to give up creative control over their material ... down to even the clothes they wear on stage. After 7 months of negotiations, The Warning signed a 5 album recording contract with Lava/Republic Records/Universal Music Group in the fall of 2020. They decided to release 1/2 (6 songs) of their completed 3rd full-length album in an EP called Mayday. "Disciple" is my favorite track.
The Warning do not come from a family of musicians, however, their parents are huge fans of classic rock. Both parents are professionals (civil engineer and dentist) and they enrolled their daughters into a private Catholic English speaking school Liceo de Monterrey, Mexico. They also started the girls with classical piano lessons at ages 6, 4 and 5 years old. Regular family functions included gathering around the TV with popcorn and watching LIVE concert dvds of legendary bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and AC/DC. When their parents got them the video game Rock Band at ages 8, 6 and 3, they went nuts playing it obsessively. A year or so later, they got "real" instruments with lessons from professional teachers: and the rest is history.
Amazing they are 22, 20 and 17 years old and have already written and arranged #44 original songs all by themselves! The oldest, Dany (Daniela) plays guitar, keyboards, lead vocals on 75% of their songs, backing harmonies. Pau (Paulina) plays drums, keyboards, lead vocals on 25% of their songs, backing harmonies. Ale` (Alejandra) plays bass, keyboards, backing harmonies.
The drummer Pau begins writing around 75% of their songs. In her songs, she starts with a concept, then works on chord progressions and basic song structure on piano while adding lyrics. She then brings it before her sisters and together they transpose each individual instrument's part; making changes along the way. They also complete the lyrics together; since Pau may only bring one verse and a chorus. All 3 must unanimously approve of each instrument's part and each vocal harmony before it becomes a completed song. Nothing is set in stone until it makes it through the gauntlet. Pau has said if not for her sisters, her songs would be different. Both Dany and Ale` write equally great songs; just not as many.
I was fortunate enough to get to meet them after their show January 16th, 2020 at The Whisky a Go-Go in Hollywood, California. Aside from their music, they are just normal, sweet, intelligent, and fun-loving young ladies who are truely grateful and endearing to their fans. I hope you get to see them LIVE soon.

I'm in Canada too. They are playing at a free music festival in Burlington in June and I will be there. They also recently added 5 more Canadian dates - London, Waterloo, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal. I discovered The Warning last July when Evolve came out and have been addicted ever since. I saw that you also did Choke. Please check out Disciple and their new cover of Enter Sandman with fellow Canadian Alessia Cara. You won't be disappointed.

The Warning is my favorite by far but I must say you are stunning.
They are all so incredibly powerful in their playing and stage presence. Gotta say though, I just love the way Ale plays that bass. That gal uses her whole body to play that! Love it!

The Warning are very young. (Bass player Alejandra was only 17 when this video was shot.) They have been performing together as a band since 2013, when they put an at-home performance on TH-cam for their grandparents. Which got 24 MILLION VIEWS.) after performing all over North and South America, this year, they toured Europe. Although some of their fans are younger, in your generation, most are older. Like parents and grandparents. They’re honest and transparent, writing their own music, about themes they’re passionate about. Even the allure of social media. They have a rabid fanbase called The Warning Army.Haven’t seen a hard rock sister group since Ann (now 73) and Nancy (now 69) Wilson formed Heart in the 1970s. My favorite performance is “Narcisista” when they were interviewed by a Mexican reporter, who asked them why they wrote almost all their songs in English. Drummer Pau interpreted this as an attack on her sisters and herself. She’s the tiniest and loudest of the three and decided not to let the reporter get away with it. So here is The Warning, live in Mexico. Notice how much Pau has the audience participate. Never mess with Pau’s family!

Fun fact: This video was recorded on 14 iphones plus one drone camera. You can see some of the iphones if you look closely at the video.
They filmed this in their basement with help from their parents. They used 16 I-phones and a drone.
