    Hey Cricket Lovers🏏, who is New Zealand's greatest batsman? Martin Crowe, Kane Williamson or Ross Taylor?

    • @Vikshotgun
      @Vikshotgun 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Martin crowe, stephen Fleming, crains were the top dogs in New Zealand cricket along with greats like hadlee

      Cricket is a unique sport which keeps evolving & by its virtue, comparing players from different generations sounds completely illogical & useless…
      Ex. Crowe was a fearsome for bowlers then
      A batsman with same stats now would be rated very low.
      Cricket was more bowler oriented then

      Kane Williamson's for sheer achievement without doubt, but Martin Crowe could play as well as anyone ever I reckon. That said, we must not forget Ross. He was possibly the best at both test and ODI cricket combined of the 3 of them. They certainly deserve to be considered NZ's greatest three batsmen ever. Kane and Ross both weren't great t20 batsmen although both brilliant at it on their day. Martin might’ve been amazing at it if he'd played during the era but we'll never know. He invented Cricket Max after all but it never caught on. I think t20 cricket is what he was really driving at, but he kind've got a bit clever for his own good.

      @Vikshotgun except that Fleming never fulfilled his talent as a batsman in test cricket with his poor conversion rate, fine player though he was. Chris Cairns was certainly a truly great all-rounder, but his proneness to injury meant that he ended up missing more tests than he played in throughout the duration of his career. If he hadn't, his record might’ve been better than Kapil Dev's. At least the equal of it. Certainly a great player though. Fleming was a great captain and a great slip fielder, and a very fine batsman who should've been great. It was obvious when one saw him at his very best.

      @@Krishna.Tilak74his stats now wouldn't be rated very low! 45 average is still superb. Yes it would be higher if he played now, but even so.

    1992 is the best WC in my memory, bowling friendly pitches, class batsmen, not just pinch hitting. Then came Mark Gratebatch and Crowe, who changed the way ODI opening process was handled.
    This was followed by Sanath and others .. Cricket will never be the same.

      That's true! People talk about Jayasuriya pioneering that helter skelter opening of an ODI innings in the 1996WC, but Greatbatch did it in 1992, admittedly to a slightly lesser degree, but extremely effectively nonetheless.

    Even wasim akram said the same thing . Martin crowe was the only man in those days who can really play the reverse swing perfectly. And his footwork was treat to watch.

    92WC, Akram was at his peak and the way Crowe played , looks like he was playing a slow medium pacers. His pull shots were magical.

    If bowlers were to choose who they prefer bowling at if it was beteeen sachin , Lara, kohli etc in test and Martin Crowe, they would choose all the above except Crowe. He was a tough batsman to bowl to

    Richard Hadlee was never Martin Crowe's captain or anybody elses for that matter. It was the one discipline in cricket that he was never interested in persuing.
