@@MrVariant The game would also be using the same emulator on consoles. What's likely the issue is that PC hardware is so varied whereas console hardware is fixed. LRG can account for everything on PS5 and Switch, so no unforeseen errors were preventing the game from running.
This is great to hear! Though I’d love to see additional content as well, this is such a gift to a lifeline fan like myself amongst others! Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 🌕🐺
The first review I agree with. I was ultimately disappointed. I was hoping for a real remaster for some smoother graphics and some sharper upscaling like they did with Medevil.
They didn’t even add a treasure counter did they? Like they do for some RPGs. That’s the only addition I would want. I’m sort of a fan of the second one that begrudgingly tried to make my way through the first because of some stone doodad.
3:45 The game always was 60FPS. IMHO for the effort given this release should be just 10$ at most, all you're getting as the same game with new issues as people are reporting with some basic extras.
three things to keep in mind: 1. the game has some considerable jank. namely: health items will still *not* respawn. enemies love respawning when you move the screen 2 pixels. 2. do not expect sweeping changes, this is the game, as released, with touched up fmvs and an ability to save scum via rewinding and saving anywhere. this help mitigate point 1 somewhat. 3. however, the bugs where you can miss out on 100 percent completion if you purify certain areas too soon (leaf butterflies), as well as that infernal spike barrel, are still VERY much a thing left untouched. do not go into this expecting polish. i sound like i hate this game. nope, far from it. but theres a lot of jank from the original game that, unfortunately, are mostly still there. this is still a great game at it's core, and you should all support this revival.
I did almost screw myself out of completing all 130 events. I didn't realize you had to grow the golden flower before doing most of the game. Thankfully, you can use a charity wing or Barron to get out of the final boss and that seems to make the flower grow. But yes, jank is indeed here. I think the game is maybe just a bit old for my tastes, though I do appreciate the work LRG has done. Fans of Tomba should be very happy.
Anyone know if Tomba 2 does much to fix the niggles of the first game? Really hoping it gets re-released as it looks like it pushed the PS1 to the max.
Instead of just acknowladging emulation in the state it is and drive it forward, big companies opted to rerelease old ass games without ANY kind of optimization. Don't know how dense you gotta be to NOT feel ripped off by this but I guess people are just too lazy to do the 5 minute google research on the topic and get the game for free in better graphics AND coming with all kinds of optimizations.
There is something special about a re-release that doesn’t tinker too much with the original game, but I hear you. It can be frustrating when a classic gets the bare minimum with regard to treatment. I felt the bonus content went a long way to justifying the price here, but I also love behind the scenes stuff.
Another thing to keep in mind, the PC Ver. of this game doesn't start up for most people RN. So it's safer to get one of the Console Vers. atm.
I had no idea. That’s bad.
Yeah I don't know why there's difficulty porting to or from pc in some cases. Thanks as much as background for the vid.
@@MrVariant Its not a port, they used a free emulator, wrapped it with a simple GUI menu and said done.
@@xxsemb seems weird for them to do that only with PC. But I try not to think too hard about those messes.

Wild to see classic PS1 games coming back. Love that.

Wished the game had a bigger budget. Love the artsy style tomba has.

While I appreciate the more faithful approach LRG took, it would have been nice as a bonus to a full-on remake.
Keep in mind, they are selling you emulation. You can get this for free and better. They did not remaster this game.
Keep in mind, this is an official rerelease. The owner of WhooPeeCamp is making money on this release.

I looked up some videos from the PS1 version and they were 30 FPS. That's probably down to capture, I guess, but I assumed the game ran slower.

"Fix the niggles"?
