My favourite fantasy series of all time is The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. However, I would recommend it only for people who are willing to spend a long time reading as there are 14 main novels and they are all relativelly long. The plot threads go kind of crazy after a certain point but it is worth the read.
I second this. It's amazing. Brandon Sanderson that was mentioned in another comment actually wrote several of the last books, because Robert Jordan died. I'm currently on my second full read through, and it's really amazing. Cannot recommend enough. It is really really long, but it has a depth of characters and plots that isn't found in other novels.

Came to the comments to write about Wheel of Time. Definitely my favorite book series. I also recommend Malazan: Book of the Fallen, though only if you enjoy the dark and gritty. It's roughly the same length as Wheel of Time, so one should expect to sink a lot of time into finishing the series.

You're just so good man. I've been watching your content for a few years now and wanted to say that you got me back into reading after a lapse. You have a fantastic copy of Left Hand Of Darkness and it's an absolute must read. The style may seem somewhat removed at first, but it's a book that really brought me some understanding in that wonderful way that only fiction can. I think there are two or three companion books to the He-Man book that collects the mini-comics that came with the action figures, behind the scenes of the cartoon, the different artwork Mattel used on the products, etc.

My favorite fantasy book series by far is The King Killer Chronicles. There's two books in the series currently and the third one is coming out soon, it's definitely worth the read.
I think someone mentioned it Chycho, but Michael Crichton wrote Jurassic Park, which went on to become the famous movie, and WestWorld, which is now a fantastic TV show. Definitely recommend checking out Westworld. I gotta check out the Andromeda Strain for sure :D

This show in combination with a British show called "Humans", check it out if you haven't seen it yet, was fantastic to watch. Both deal with AI, and I'll just leave it at that ;)

I was going to say The Dark Tower series, oh my God, hands down the greatest story ever told. If you are into Stephen Kings other books, you need to read this series. Everything King has written has a tie to this story series(everything serves the Tower). Also Marvel picked up the Dark Tower and has put it into comic book form which is fantastic. The first series of the comic is illustrated by my favorite artist Jae Lee, these are must reads.
Love Robert Heinlein.. I read "Stranger in a Strange Land" in high school (classic, Grok!), but some of his "juvenile" series are great even as an adult. "The Rolling Stones" about a family that travels to space really stuck with me.
I couldn't get through the Shannara series because I had just read the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but I may revisit it. I love Elizabeth Moon. My two favorites are Asimov and McCaffrey. I do love your collection of novels. To me, these are the classics.
I have good memories of The Symphony of Ages series by Elizabeth Haydon and The Three Worlds Cycle series by Ian Irvine, although in both cases I only ever read the first few books of each series in my youth. And now I learn they're still going on! My most favourite fiction book though has to be Monument by Ian Graham. Not many books have managed to capture a sense of brutality for me, but Monument does it. And now I find out years later that he's recently written prequels! Man, maybe it's time to get back into reading. Thanks for awakening these memories in me!

Also, I loved the Fionavar Tapestry trilogy, of which The Summer Tree is the first, so I do highly recommend giving it another try if you so desire.

Great video, super relaxing : ) I never read any books by C.S. Lewis only heard of him via the film 'Shadowlands' that came out in the 90's. Anthony Hopkins plays Lewis. It's one of my favourite movies.
I cannot recommend reading the rest of the Summer Tree enough. It was the first book by Kay that I read, and I enjoyed it a lot. Its the first book of a trilogy, and thus has a slow start because it has to establish so many things, but the way the story comes together across all three books was really great. If you have time you should revisit and try to read it again, because the story really picks up in books 2 and 3. Love your videos!

the rift war saga (magician apprentice and master, Silverthorne, and a darkness at sethanon) is an awesome trilogy. got me into fantasy. the mist born trilogy by Branden Sanderson is fantastic. highly recommended. thanks for all the comic recommendations dude.

I'm actually leaning towards starting Feist's Magician trilogy but since there are so many great reviews of The Mistborn series by Sanderson I'm actually thinking about picking those up and giving it a go. N1GHTPAUL to me it was a load of technobabble, I read it in 1994 and back then was well aware of VR, was fluent in several computer languages and was into movies like Blade Runner \ Hardware back then.

Yes, it does take a lot of control when on eBay not to spend too much. I tend to try and buy job lots to keep the price down or wait until a particular run has finished and try to buy them as a complete job lot. Just last month I spent £73 inc P&P for 71 comics, which is pretty good in my opinion. I'm kinda torn between purchasing the trades and purchasing singles. Financially it makes sense to purchase trades but there is something about singles I like. What is it for you Chycho that makes you purchase singles and not just trades?
Oh ya, that's a great deal, it's what I try to do as well. As for why I like singles instead of trades. One is that I like to support the books/creators/companies that are coming out. I sort of consider buying the singles as investing/funding a project. The other is that I like the feel of single issues and that I can see the progression of a story. The other factor is the investing aspect that exists with this hobby. Sort of justifies me spending as much as I do on comics knowing/thinking/hoping that some of the books will be worth more in the future which I can sell and buy more books :) Don't get me wrong, I like reading trades, especially at the beach, but it's the single life for me.

I have no intentions of selling any of my collection (albeit a small collection so far haha) but I guess it's comforting knowing that If I needed to / wanted to sell them I could. Also, I have two young children and my 4 year old has been into superheroes for a little while now and I've been showing him some of my comics recently so it would be nice to be able hand them down one day. Another thing I like about singles which you don't get in the trades is the advertisements in some of the really old comics for things you can send away for like X-ray specs, fake facial hair or kung fu sandals to name a few 😁. Chycho! Have you read the Memory, Sorrow, Thorn series by Tad Williams? I’m reading it now and based off your shelf here, I think you may really enjoy it. Other recommendations- Realm of the Elderlings series by Robin Hobb, and Malazan by Steven Erikson. Hope you’re well- I enjoy your calm, kind presence.
Loved Weis & Hickman, I have read everything you've shown here by them. And as mentioned by others in the comments, Wheel of Time is my favorite fantasy series of all time. But since others have mentioned these, I will talk about another important book series that you showed here. "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and its sequels "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe"; "Life, the Universe and Everything"; and "So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish" are must reads. Douglas Adams is a master of satire and these are very humorous and intelligent (and fast) reads. The characters, and the adventures they have, are zany and ridiculous and yet Adams uses these Sci-Fi stories to make very clever and poignant observations on human existence all disguised in his trademarked dry British humor. If you like Monty Python type humor, you'll love these books. Two more sequels followed years after the original 4 books, I'd say they're not as important to read but "Mostly Harmless" is still fun if you're feeling nostalgic for new "Hitchhiker" stories. The last book, "And Another Thing..." I have not read as it was written and published years after Adams's death. *Edited for syntax, punctuation and grammar, because I'm a nerd. :)
Also, "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency" , along with the follow-up " The Long, Dark Tea-Time of the Soul" bring a fresh perspective into Adams' illness.
I would like to recommend the author Piers Anthony and his series Incarnations of Immortality, as well as any of the Xanth novels, like Spell for a Chameleon.
I think you may like RanXerox, it's an 80's comic originally in Italian but translated into English, featured in Heavy Metal magazine in installments and you can (could ?) buy it standalone also; it features a jacked up rock-a-billy android in a messed up dystopian world.
I'd recommend my two favorite Sci-Fi novel universes: Warhammer 40,000 and Battletech. Many authors have written books for both lines, so the quality varies wildly, but Dan Abnett wrote a bunch of 40k novels. You might know him as the writer on alot of Marvel's modern cosmic comic books. As for Battletech, MIchael A. Stackpole wrote some amazing novels, and you might recognize him as the author of the original Star Wars: X-Wing novels. I'd strongly recommend books in both series written by them. 40k is very graphic and grimdark, but has a very unique blend of medieval themes amidst a far future sci-fi setting. Battletech is basically Game of Thrones in space, but with knights and magic replaced by 15 meter tall giant Mechs, and alot more fighting.
Long delayed, but "The Name of the Wind" is indeed great, and there's now a second book in that series, both excellent. The whole Malazan Empire series is amazing as well.
Dude you have to read hitchhikers! I’ve read a good bit of those but that stands out the most. Insightful for a young me but still as I go back to it, it grows and ages with me as I relate to the characters in new ways. The movie is good too...but the books are where it’s at. They definitely feel more fleshed out. I gotta find myself a copy !

chycho also I don’t know if I’ve recommending this book in a previous comment but red mars is a great book. A trilogy I believe, but it revolves around humans terraforming mars it’s super good if you find the time it’s dense though 😂

Just in regards to the Dragonlance series... the order you want to go in is as follows: 1. Dragonlance Chronicles: Volume 1 - Dragons of Autumn Twilight 2. Dragonlance Chronicles: Volume 2 - Dragons of Winter Night 3. Dragonlance Chronicles: Volume 3 - Dragons of Spring Dawning Then the next series (my favourite) follows straight on afterwards: 4. Dragonlance Legends: Volume 1 - Time of The Twins 5. Dragonlance Legends: Volume 2 - War of The Twins 6. Dragonlance Legends: Volume 3 - Test of The Twins You are just missing the first book I think!
Make sure you read those books you have by Raymond E Feist. It seems you are missing the first book of his first trilogy, titled 'Magician'. 'Silverthorn' and 'Darkness at Sethanon' are books 2 and 3. There are also an additional 20 or so books to that series. So far I have only read up to the end of the Serpentwar Saga and it is possibly the best fantasy series and Universe I have ever come across. So much detail, and yet not too much that you get bored or lose interest (like lord of the rings). I would also highly recommend the Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks. It is hands down my favourite fantasy series of all time and I have read through it at least once every year for the last 8yrs or so. It is definitely aimed at a slightly younger audience, but the imagination and storytelling is beyond brilliant. His second series, the 'Lightbringer series' is also incredible although I have yet to read the fourth book (as it only came out recently and I am still working my way through Raymond Feist's epic saga). I have also been told to check out 'Tiger Tiger' (also known by the title 'The stars my destination'), written by Alfred Bester. Many of my friends and family claim it is the greatest sci-fi story ever written due to the ideas and concepts it addresses (especially seeing as it was written so long ago). It's a relatively short novel and I feel it would definitely be something you would enjoy. Anywho, thanks again for a great vid! Keep up the good work. I did indeed, and I did like it, even with the changes. That said, it did have some things that annoyed me, especially about one of the main protagonists.

May take a look at The First Law trilogy by Joe Abercrombie.I would classify his books as Grimdark Fantasy. After I read like 6 epic fantasy novels in a row, I really enjoyed this darker atmosphere.
Did you ever get to the follow up dune books? I just read dune myself, read messiah, and am working on children of dune now. Some interesting stuff for sure, but the introduction and learning about the world and the people from the first book cannot be replicated.
No, I haven't yet. Heard that they are really good though, the Frank Herbert written ones. Need a little motivation to do it, maybe once the movie is released, fingers crossed it's good.

Really loved this video, first one of yours I have seen and instant subscribe. The soft spoken tone is so relaxing, and as recommendations go, The Poppy War trilogy by R. F. Kuang, really spectacular fantasy that has what feels like a new take on the consequences of war and violence in fantasy literature.
You should check out Jack Vance for all your sci fi and fantasy needs. I should branch out myself and see if there is another author I like as much as his stuff. He's very prolific and I don't know if I could enjoy another author's stories as much but I hope that I will find some other good stuff that is maybe comparable.

@@chycho I have not. I havent read any of the series but recently someone mentioned it and I recalled you talking about it being 5 books. I looked it up on goodreads and saw its 7, although its possible the 6th and 7th might be a self contained story, I'm not sure. They're titled The Sea is Full of Stars and Ghost of the Well of Souls. It's a very interesting premise, will probably give it a try one day.

In Snow Piercer I feel like the train is a symbol representing stratified society as a whole. Another thing, if we interpret and define comic books as works of art, then why is there a comic book code which implements censorship. I am not aware of any artists whom have had their pieces hung in galleries, of any sort, that had their art censored.
That's the thing. The censorship was put in place by the industry itself due to the threat of government stepping in. Keep in mind that governments have burned many books in history, comic books were no exception. That's why almost any comic book aficionado is a hardcore anti-censorship advocate. We hate gatekeepers.
chycho ahhh. The ideology of the ruling class. I guess no society is completely free. I believe that Joseph Campbell would classify comic book stories as a form of symbolic mythology. How can mythology/ story telling be considered for censorship. Why not Mother Goose or even Revelations in the Bible? I think I just answered my own question.
Skulduggery Pleasant is my favourite book series, I started reading it when I was 10 and still do to this day. Definitely for the teenagers or young adults but I would definitely recommend The Demon Road trilogy by Derek Landy!
Although I prefer real books from pulp, 😉, I have the whole set of Edgar Rice Burroughs “Mars” books PDF versions on my ipad. Looking forward to reading them! Right now we don’t have room to shelf a whole lot of real books!

Chycho - you should read pretty much anything by David Gemmell. I think you'd really like those books, he's a late great British author who sadly died of cancer a few years ago. I too am kind of a slow reader but I find his writing easy to speed through. If you get the chance then I'd recommend you start with either Legend or Waylander.

After that, we'll see where I get to... might catch up on some of my comic reads but might just start another series and Waylander looks pretty cool... that said, as some have recommended, Discworld also look amazing.
Discworld is good but I honestly think David Gemmell's work you'd love. The fore has some comedy in it, whereas Gemmell is proper high fantasy, but its really well written. Very famous in the UK. Wrote over 20 books. And as I say, I find some authors easier to read than others and Gemmell words just flow

I’m not sure if you’ve read it yet, but I think Malazan would be right up your street! It’s dark, hilarious, heartbreaking, and so close to home with its social, environmental, and political commentary. There is nothing else like it.
Also, my first exposure to Michael Chrichton was the movie JURASSIC PARK! (I was a dinosaur nut like a lot of other kids...) I haven't read any of his books but a quick Wikipedia search told of a 1987 novel called "Sphere" which sounds like something you might dig. I've meant to watch The Andromeda Strain forever and it looks like there was even a Ridley Scott reboot in 2008.
Oh ya, I forgot about the Ridley Scott reboot. I haven't watched it and probably never will. The original was amazingly done in my opinion. As for the Sphere, looks like it was the bases for the 1998 movie, which I liked. Could be a great read as well. Thanks for the heads-up :)

I cant recomend highly enough The Acts of Caine series By Mathew Woodring Stover. Perfect mix of fantasy and sci fi and superb writing. Oh and anything by Joe Abercrombie, seriously. I add my vote to whoever recomended Altered Carbón (read The books before The Netflix show begins!). Keep Up The great work Chycho!

I've read a lot of British writers and some of my favorite artists are British. One of the best comics ever is Slaine: The Horned God by Pat Mills and Bisley.
I see we are both fans of the Andromeda Strain. There are actually two movies, the original one from the 1970s and a TV mini series from about 10 years ago. I vastly prefer the older film.
You have a good eye for this genre. May I recommend a new book by the Author Leo. It is called Kandor The Warrior and it is well worth a read. 😉. He has created a whole new fantasy realm.

That would be an amazing collection. I have a few of the early action figures as well as well as Castle Grayskull... hehe... all are in rough shape though, they were well played with by my younger brother :) As for the book, it's fantastic, and offered at an amazing price through Dark Horse Comics. My favourite fantasy series of all time is The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan. However, I would recommend it only for people who are willing to spend a long time reading as there are 14 main novels and they are all relativelly long. The plot threads go kind of crazy after a certain point but it is worth the read.
I second this. It's amazing. Brandon Sanderson that was mentioned in another comment actually wrote several of the last books, because Robert Jordan died. I'm currently on my second full read through, and it's really amazing. Cannot recommend enough. It is really really long, but it has a depth of characters and plots that isn't found in other novels.

I also recommend Malazan: Book of the Fallen, though only if you enjoy the dark and gritty. It's roughly the same length as Wheel of Time, so one should expect to sink a lot of time into finishing the series.

I think someone mentioned it Chycho, but Michael Crichton wrote Jurassic Park, which went on to become the famous movie, and WestWorld, which is now a fantastic TV show. Definitely recommend checking out Westworld. I gotta check out the Andromeda Strain for sure :D

I was going to say The Dark Tower series, oh my God, hands down the greatest story ever told. If you are into Stephen Kings other books, you need to read this series. Everything King has written has a tie to this story series(everything serves the Tower). Also Marvel picked up the Dark Tower and has put it into comic book form which is fantastic. The first series of the comic is illustrated by my favorite artist Jae Lee, these are must reads.
Love Robert Heinlein.. I read "Stranger in a Strange Land" in high school (classic, Grok!), but some of his "juvenile" series are great even as an adult. "The Rolling Stones" about a family that travels to space really stuck with me.

I couldn't get through the Shannara series because I had just read the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but I may revisit it. I love Elizabeth Moon. My two favorites are Asimov and McCaffrey. I do love your collection of novels. To me, these are the classics.
I have good memories of The Symphony of Ages series by Elizabeth Haydon and The Three Worlds Cycle series by Ian Irvine, although in both cases I only ever read the first few books of each series in my youth. And now I learn they're still going on! My most favourite fiction book though has to be Monument by Ian Graham. Not many books have managed to capture a sense of brutality for me, but Monument does it. And now I find out years later that he's recently written prequels! Man, maybe it's time to get back into reading. Thanks for awakening these memories in me!

I cannot recommend reading the rest of the Summer Tree enough. It was the first book by Kay that I read, and I enjoyed it a lot. Its the first book of a trilogy, and thus has a slow start because it has to establish so many things, but the way the story comes together across all three books was really great. If you have time you should revisit and try to read it again, because the story really picks up in books 2 and 3. Love your videos!

N1GHTPAUL to me it was a load of technobabble, I read it in 1994 and back then was well aware of VR, was fluent in several computer languages and was into movies like Blade Runner \ Hardware back then.

Yes, it does take a lot of control when on eBay not to spend too much. I tend to try and buy job lots to keep the price down or wait until a particular run has finished and try to buy them as a complete job lot. Just last month I spent £73 inc P&P for 71 comics, which is pretty good in my opinion.
I'm kinda torn between purchasing the trades and purchasing singles. Financially it makes sense to purchase trades but there is something about singles I like.
What is it for you Chycho that makes you purchase singles and not just trades?
Oh ya, that's a great deal, it's what I try to do as well.
As for why I like singles instead of trades. One is that I like to support the books/creators/companies that are coming out. I sort of consider buying the singles as investing/funding a project. The other is that I like the feel of single issues and that I can see the progression of a story. The other factor is the investing aspect that exists with this hobby. Sort of justifies me spending as much as I do on comics knowing/thinking/hoping that some of the books will be worth more in the future which I can sell and buy more books :)
Don't get me wrong, I like reading trades, especially at the beach, but it's the single life for me.
Thanks for replying Chycho. I feel the same way about the investment aspect. I have no intentions of selling any of my collection (albeit a small collection so far haha) but I guess it's comforting knowing that If I needed to / wanted to sell them I could.
Also, I have two young children and my 4 year old has been into superheroes for a little while now and I've been showing him some of my comics recently so it would be nice to be able hand them down one day.
Another thing I like about singles which you don't get in the trades is the advertisements in some of the really old comics for things you can send away for like X-ray specs, fake facial hair or kung fu sandals to name a few 😁.

Loved Weis & Hickman, I have read everything you've shown here by them. And as mentioned by others in the comments, Wheel of Time is my favorite fantasy series of all time. But since others have mentioned these, I will talk about another important book series that you showed here.
"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and its sequels "The Restaurant at the End of the Universe"; "Life, the Universe and Everything"; and "So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish" are must reads. Douglas Adams is a master of satire and these are very humorous and intelligent (and fast) reads. The characters, and the adventures they have, are zany and ridiculous and yet Adams uses these Sci-Fi stories to make very clever and poignant observations on human existence all disguised in his trademarked dry British humor. If you like Monty Python type humor, you'll love these books.
Two more sequels followed years after the original 4 books, I'd say they're not as important to read but "Mostly Harmless" is still fun if you're feeling nostalgic for new "Hitchhiker" stories. The last book, "And Another Thing..." I have not read as it was written and published years after Adams's death.

I think you may like RanXerox, it's an 80's comic originally in Italian but translated into English, featured in Heavy Metal magazine in installments and you can (could ?) buy it standalone also; it features a jacked up rock-a-billy android in a messed up dystopian world.

I'd recommend my two favorite Sci-Fi novel universes: Warhammer 40,000 and Battletech. Many authors have written books for both lines, so the quality varies wildly, but Dan Abnett wrote a bunch of 40k novels. You might know him as the writer on alot of Marvel's modern cosmic comic books. As for Battletech, MIchael A. Stackpole wrote some amazing novels, and you might recognize him as the author of the original Star Wars: X-Wing novels. I'd strongly recommend books in both series written by them. 40k is very graphic and grimdark, but has a very unique blend of medieval themes amidst a far future sci-fi setting. Battletech is basically Game of Thrones in space, but with knights and magic replaced by 15 meter tall giant Mechs, and alot more fighting.

Dude you have to read hitchhikers! I’ve read a good bit of those but that stands out the most. Insightful for a young me but still as I go back to it, it grows and ages with me as I relate to the characters in new ways. The movie is good too...but the books are where it’s at. They definitely feel more fleshed out. I gotta find myself a copy !

Make sure you read those books you have by Raymond E Feist. It seems you are missing the first book of his first trilogy, titled 'Magician'. 'Silverthorn' and 'Darkness at Sethanon' are books 2 and 3. There are also an additional 20 or so books to that series. So far I have only read up to the end of the Serpentwar Saga and it is possibly the best fantasy series and Universe I have ever come across. So much detail, and yet not too much that you get bored or lose interest (like lord of the rings). I would also highly recommend the Night Angel Trilogy by Brent Weeks. It is hands down my favourite fantasy series of all time and I have read through it at least once every year for the last 8yrs or so. It is definitely aimed at a slightly younger audience, but the imagination and storytelling is beyond brilliant. His second series, the 'Lightbringer series' is also incredible although I have yet to read the fourth book (as it only came out recently and I am still working my way through Raymond Feist's epic saga). I have also been told to check out 'Tiger Tiger' (also known by the title 'The stars my destination'), written by Alfred Bester. Many of my friends and family claim it is the greatest sci-fi story ever written due to the ideas and concepts it addresses (especially seeing as it was written so long ago). It's a relatively short novel and I feel it would definitely be something you would enjoy. Anywho, thanks again for a great vid! Keep up the good work. Did you ever get to the follow up dune books? I just read dune myself, read messiah, and am working on children of dune now. Some interesting stuff for sure, but the introduction and learning about the world and the people from the first book cannot be replicated.

You should check out Jack Vance for all your sci fi and fantasy needs. I should branch out myself and see if there is another author I like as much as his stuff. He's very prolific and I don't know if I could enjoy another author's stories as much but I hope that I will find some other good stuff that is maybe comparable.

No, I've actually never read it. Loved the movie though, watched it multiple times. Stanley Kubrick, to me, is one of the greatest directors and storyteller of all time.
I know this is a very late comment, but I just found out well of souls actually has 7 books in the series, books 6 and 7 were released about 15 years later.

@@chycho I have not. I havent read any of the series but recently someone mentioned it and I recalled you talking about it being 5 books. I looked it up on goodreads and saw its 7, although its possible the 6th and 7th might be a self contained story, I'm not sure. They're titled The Sea is Full of Stars and Ghost of the Well of Souls. It's a very interesting premise, will probably give it a try one day.

In Snow Piercer I feel like the train is a symbol representing stratified society as a whole. Another thing, if we interpret and define comic books as works of art, then why is there a comic book code which implements censorship. I am not aware of any artists whom have had their pieces hung in galleries, of any sort, that had their art censored.
That's the thing. The censorship was put in place by the industry itself due to the threat of government stepping in. Keep in mind that governments have burned many books in history, comic books were no exception. That's why almost any comic book aficionado is a hardcore anti-censorship advocate. We hate gatekeepers.
chycho ahhh. The ideology of the ruling class. I guess no society is completely free. I believe that Joseph Campbell would classify comic book stories as a form of symbolic mythology. How can mythology/ story telling be considered for censorship. Why not Mother Goose or even Revelations in the Bible? I think I just answered my own question.
Skulduggery Pleasant is my favourite book series, I started reading it when I was 10 and still do to this day. Definitely for the teenagers or young adults but I would definitely recommend The Demon Road trilogy by Derek Landy!

I’ll recommend 2 things one is a actual book called the book of 5 rings and the other recommendation is a manga called vagabond both are about musashi he himself wrote the book of five rings and the manga vagabond is a story that just amazing

Don Lawrence's art is absolutely stunning. I've only read a fraction of his work, need to get a few of his collected pieces. Amazing sci-fi visionary.
The series Storm is now finished So maybe you could get your hands on the hole first series. I believe there are 32 issues in the Storm first serie. But beware the second serie is not drawn by Don Lawrence..

Nice! You're very lucky. I now have ebay's search set so it will send me messages if a complete set of the volumes finds it's way there... other than that I'm going to ask my local comic shop what the deal is and if they have any of the volumes. Slowly but surely.

Chycho - you should read pretty much anything by David Gemmell. I think you'd really like those books, he's a late great British author who sadly died of cancer a few years ago. I too am kind of a slow reader but I find his writing easy to speed through. If you get the chance then I'd recommend you start with either Legend or Waylander.
Thanks, brother, I'll keep this mind. I've almost finished Feist's Magician (book I) and should have the whole trilogy done by the end of the summer. After that, we'll see where I get to... might catch up on some of my comic reads but might just start another series and Waylander looks pretty cool... that said, as some have recommended, Discworld also look amazing.
Discworld is good but I honestly think David Gemmell's work you'd love. The fore has some comedy in it, whereas Gemmell is proper high fantasy, but its really well written. Very famous in the UK. Wrote over 20 books. And as I say, I find some authors easier to read than others and Gemmell words just flow

I’m not sure if you’ve read it yet, but I think Malazan would be right up your street! It’s dark, hilarious, heartbreaking, and so close to home with its social, environmental, and political commentary. There is nothing else like it.

Also, my first exposure to Michael Chrichton was the movie JURASSIC PARK! (I was a dinosaur nut like a lot of other kids...) I haven't read any of his books but a quick Wikipedia search told of a 1987 novel called "Sphere" which sounds like something you might dig. I've meant to watch The Andromeda Strain forever and it looks like there was even a Ridley Scott reboot in 2008.
Oh ya, I forgot about the Ridley Scott reboot. I haven't watched it and probably never will. The original was amazingly done in my opinion.
As for the Sphere, looks like it was the bases for the 1998 movie, which I liked. Could be a great read as well. Thanks for the heads-up :)

I cant recomend highly enough The Acts of Caine series By Mathew Woodring Stover. Perfect mix of fantasy and sci fi and superb writing. Oh and anything by Joe Abercrombie, seriously. I add my vote to whoever recomended Altered Carbón (read The books before The Netflix show begins!). Keep Up The great work Chycho!

I've read a lot of British writers and some of my favorite artists are British. One of the best comics ever is Slaine: The Horned God by Pat Mills and Bisley.
I see we are both fans of the Andromeda Strain. There are actually two movies, the original one from the 1970s and a TV mini series from about 10 years ago. I vastly prefer the older film.
I haven't seen the TV mini and don't think I ever will. The 1970's movie, in my opinion, was brilliant.
You have a good eye for this genre. May I recommend a new book by the Author Leo. It is called Kandor The Warrior and it is well worth a read. 😉. He has created a whole new fantasy realm.

I am not ashamed to say I have been a collector of the action figures for around 30 years now... the book you have here is excellent.
That would be an amazing collection. I have a few of the early action figures as well as well as Castle Grayskull... hehe... all are in rough shape though, they were well played with by my younger brother :)
As for the book, it's fantastic, and offered at an amazing price through Dark Horse Comics. Well worth adding o any collection.
