Hey Conor, FWIW - that World Cities list has the Russian transliteration Kiev, instead of the Ukrainian Kyiv.

Thanks for spotting that. The list was from 2022 so presumably they will update their spelling in due course.

Really interesting video. Some of those rankings are absolutely shocking. Hard to imagine Lisbon is on par with Berlin.

Yeah, I found many of their classifications to be strange.

You mentioned the 3 Baltic countries are in the top 5 places to find models. What were the other 2 countries?

How can Poles be richer than Brits in 2029 when according to the IMF they currently have a GDP per capita 70% less than Britain and median salaries 75% less. They must grow at like 25% per year which is impossible for a normal country and that rate would mean Poland would overtake Switzerland in 2030 to be the richest in the world. Seems like Tusk needs to learn better math.

You seem to be confusing ‘70-75% of’ with ‘70-75% less’. 🤦🏻 On most metrics, Poland is only 20-30% behind the UK economically speaking.
Personally I think it will be more like 2035 before Poland overtakes the UK on current trends but it’s clear that the UK has suffered badly economically since Brexit while Poland has been catching up dramatically.
For me living in Poland is overall a way more attractive proposition than living in the UK in terms of quality of life. Then again if you really want to live in a city like London or New York then those are the spots for you. 👍🏻

@@ConorClyneNewEuropeThen Poland is in track to overtake Germany and Switzerland too. I don’t think they can maintain that growth or it doesn’t reflect to local conditions.

@ Ireland also overtook the UK and the other countries you mention from being the poorest country in the EEC (now EU) when it joined in 1973.

@@ConorClyneNewEuropeI see. I moved from Holland to the UK (Not London) But I don’t see living standards or even wages in Ireland being noticeably higher than the UK and not even the Nederland’s exceeding despite GDP per capita being multiples higher.
If anything, Britain would have more opportunities and range of progression than both.
But mostly it’s mutually exclusive, I don’t see the impact of Brexit on me as an individual, nor would I think growth in 1 country such as Poland would mean a decline in another.
I appreciate there has been extraordinary growth in Central Europe in recent decades, but I don’t see this as tangible as it is in the West.

@@RRaymer average wages are 25% higher in Ireland than in the UK. I guess it depends on which sector you’re comparing your opportunities in if you’re deciding which country is best for your career.
The GDP per capita at PPS is massively different with Ireland at 213 while the UK is 99 and the Netherlands is 133 (100 being the EU average): ec.europa.eu/eurostat/databrowser/view/tec00114/default/table?lang=en
Poland in particular is on track to become an economic and military juggernaut in the next 2 decades (if it stays on its current trajectory). As for quality of life, the downsides are the weather in winter and the geopolitical risk of further Russian aggression.
