This isn't just funny in the usual internet, quick joke sense; this actually made me laugh aloud repeatedly. I'm so glad I found this channel, this is great stuff.
Even their more 'serious' vids are still hilarious and these guys are definitely gonna overtake (no pun intended lol) Donut Media in the foreseeable future
I like how the TT was all covered in tape but nothing was done about the spoiler in the back, whose job is to literally grab wind and force the car down.
Whoa, you're conflating two different purposes here: Spoiler = to reduce turbulence, and so reduce drag (inverted) Wing = to create downforce directly above the contact patch of the tire, achieved by _ increasing drag_ or iow, think about what a bird's wing flapping does - it contacts more and more turbulent air to generate lift. Now flip it, invert it = downforce.
Got to hand it to that jag. It did well to get 34mpg considering its a V8 luxury car with an auto gearbox and was unmodified. It proves that it Doesn't matter what car you have it's how you drive it.
12 gallon tank of cheap unleaded, with a cheap bottle fuel injection cleaner and a cheap bottle of octane booster (both under 1.50 each). without range displayed 330 miles (27.5 mpg), with 2 bottles of goop range shows 420 miles (35 mpg) driving light on the pedal. 90 extra miles for under 3 bucks works for me!
If top gear really wanted to bring even a fraction of the success they had before, these are the guys they should bring in rather than 3 strangers who are forced to play pranks and be funny. Probably the only guys that give of the same vibe that doesn't look forced
This is legit good. I get heavy Top Gear vibes but not in a bad, copycat way. I legitimately was laughing out loud during this. Y'all feel very natural together, which is why Top Gear did so well. Keep it up! Just always be yourselves, don't try to emulate them.
that tape was put on so roughly that there's no way it's smoother for the airflow lol. the tiny length of tape on the door shut line that callum is saving by being given birth to by his TT each time they need to get in or out is so tiny and so shoddily applied that you've got to wonder what they're trying to save :D
Really enjoyed this video! I’d not be surprised if the only thing improving your fuel mileage was actually how you were driving, though. I managed to gain about 11mpg (compared to the claimed figures) over a 250 mile trip in my WRX by doing the whole thing around 60mph steadily on motorways. The trade-off was very much the extra time spent 😒
If you think about it, Top Gear did a wonderful clip about it. Remember the M3 vs the Prius one-liter challenge? The M3 won despite having like... What? A 4L 444hp V8 against a dinky 1.6L hybrid. Sometimes, it's not the bigger engine that kills your fuel but how you drive and how big the tank is in the car.
The top gear spirit isn’t determined by a highly produced show about cars with 3 people attempting to make jokes. It’s essentially three mates who like cars and eachother, that’s what makes it funny and enjoyable. This is really good
Air resistence increase as the squared of the speed, which means that tips to reduce mpg will only be noticed if you runs your car at 100mph most of the time.
The "longtail" on the SLK actually makes sense. The flat rear end is called a Kammback design and is used on various cars for fuel economy, the Prius being a prime example.
i _love_ these little challenges. not so much MPG, but all these _very familiar_ style of automobile challenge vids. 10/10, i always eagerly await new vids.
As you see in the comments, you guys are doing some really nice work... This channel is getting better and better (funny videos, where u can learn sth, serious videos, where u can learn sth, the challenge with the subie and the Lambo is pretty nice too, and every video is spiced up with some pretty funny jokes... Even those serious videos are really entertaining) ... And yeah, I even would say, you're better than Top Gear... Great job ✌️ Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
The nan used in that stock photo was my nan! She drove her Toyota conquest from Cape town to London in it! Her book about it is called my African conquest, worth a read
I'm from America and I absolutely love these 3 guys, I'm running out of videos lol. Btw thanks for the imperial translations boys. I only practically understand Meters, gotta get on top of kgs
1:38 Looks like Scott doesn't know how the octane rating works. It does not provide more power to these old cars, it isn't more energy-dense. It simply prevents detonation in high-compression engines, as found in new performance cars.
If you are really looking for less air resistance, woolen threads will tell you if the flow is laminar or turbulent. Long tail reduces resistance by about 5%. The water drops not have tail in reality and they have smallest air resistance. The golf ball have lower resistance, because it make little turbulence and flow is less turbulence in its backside.
I'm loving these Top Gear/Grand Tour videos. Keep em coming fellas

Covering the air & radiator inlet won't do much as it is a stagnation area (perpendicular to the flow), but wheels and flat bottom do. Cutting a ~rectangular hole above the fr. wheel and behind rear wheel would be also a nice gain.
I may be wrong but I think covering the front grille on the "100mpg" TT is a bad idea. This is because in an exothermic reaction more energy is generated when the temprature is reduced (i.e. when the delta between the temprature of the reaction and the ambient temprature is greater). Thats why you have the "pig grille" on the new M3 and M4 these designs sacrifice looks in favour of better cooling and a higher efficiency and this is the same reason why you have got intercoolers on high performance cars, to increase the power and increasing engine efficiency.
Straight from Top Gear textbook and I absolutely love it! Whoever thinks it's bad or anything of that sort, think about abandoning comedy as a genre just because it's already been done before.
Little secret, get into top gear and bring the engine rpm to where the engine is developing maximum torque and you will achieve the highest mpg that you can, obviously helps to know the specs of your vehicle and a manual transmission.
Best trio I've seen since Jezza, Hammond and May, hands down, good laugh, good content, great work lads, idk how you can make saving fuel funny but yous done it 😄
Try using 4 space saver wheels . Or you could just buy a 2004 Renault Laguna estate 1.9dci , that's does 70mpg at 80mph just by rotating the egr 180 degrees and re-inserting and leaving it connected it still does not work . One of the best MPG cars in history considering its a large family car .
The thumbnail made it look like it was just an experiment with the SLK, rather than a continuation of the budget cars. I'm glad I watched it as it was genuinely entertaining, unlike the forced out of other mitoring trios (current and past)!
The fuel gauge coming on really tests how well you know your car. Some cars, empty means your done, your out. Empty on other cars mean you still got a gallon left. Same with EVs. Some like Tesla have 10-15 miles left in them after 0% while others only have around 5-10.
Ya'll may want to take that title away from Scott. Formula 1 fuel actually has only a small amount more energy per unit than gasoline. Formula 1 fuel is 12,889 watt-hours per kilogram. Regular Gasoline is 43 megajoules per KG. 1 MJ is is 277.77 watt hours. 43 megawatts, 11,944 watt-hours. About 8% more energy. For him to get 6 mpg better, with the only change being an 8% increase in fuel density, he would have needed to be getting 150 mpg to begin with. Would love to see a better laid-out experiment to test how much each of these methods actually increases fuel economy, and the speeds at which their benefits come to the greatest fruition, since most of the stuff you guys tried doing is based in aerodynamics. Still, thanks much for the video!

3 bri ish guys oi must be like top gear innit
Fuel going down fast in an SLK320 is very normal ! Bloody awful engine on petrol , my 230 will do double lol
What can't duct tape fix! :D
Finally someone has managed to give top gear vibes to a show by just being themselves. This channel is a gem!
Lol, not at all, simpleton.
Sometimes, quality content is just doing sth normal people can't do because of money. And many of the old top gear challenges fall into this category.
I literally was about to say that but then i saw this comment 😂
Finally someone compared a car show to top gear. Refreshing.
Agreed, I'm really enjoying their friendship-rivalry moments in their videos.
Scott revving the SLK 230 Longtail ECO MPG was hilarious 😂
To be fair we would have done that too. I mean rev the engine of the competition
I’m very fond of the SLK 230 Longtail ECO MPG
I wonder how much mileage that cost him

Check out a channel called Think Flight. You will see a video with remarkable similarity
I love that Callum doesn't lose patience and just open the door, but stays committed and keeps climbing in and out through the window 😆
This channel is turning into the proper spiritual successor of Top Gear. I like that.
I wish people would stop saying everything is top gear.
@@noneyabizz8337 I get it, but it made such an impression for so many years it's only natural people keep plugging the comparison.
More of a cheap rip off of top gear.. they’re not only acting like the top gear guys but are clearly doing the same challenge.
It's not even close. Have you seen Throttle House?
@@noneyabizz8337 ok. Grand tour then
I like how the TT was all covered in tape but nothing was done about the spoiler in the back, whose job is to literally grab wind and force the car down.
I recall Audi adding the spoiler because the TT had so little traction on the rear axis it was actually dangerous and unpredictable to drive.
@@Sugurain the shape of the boot caused lift at high speed.
The spoiler on the TT doesn't just reduce lift, it also reduces drag.
Whoa, you're conflating two different purposes here:

or iow,

the spoiler is there to reduce aerodynamic drag...
Yes, covering the air intake seems very smart. No reason a radiator might need fresh air to keep the engine cool or anything
Making an efficiënt airduct for them and changing intake is too much work
Yess!!!
Love that trio comparing the same cars over and over in new challenges!
Please do more stuff like this :D
I'm itching for more MOAR FAST. Hopefully it comes soon!
scotts "I would prefer to be in sports direct even though I'm not a chav" had me dying🤣🤣🤣
Actually hope this channel blows up to ensure these videos keep getting produced. Sooooo good 😂

There definitely needs to be a scoreboard of sorts at the end of every challenge to update us on who’s in the lead.
I am with u dude.
Hearing Scott list all the places he’d prefer to be in my hometown was a particular highlight
The TT reminds me of a golf 4 I had, the doorhandle didn't door...handle, so I had to get in from the passenger side or the window. Excellent!
I love the fact that the jag is dead silent compared to the other two, when filming the driver.
