what resources does adguard use compared to other extensions? thank you

This is what I found. Adguard claims to use about half the resources of what other ad blockers use. Users say it uses anywhere from 60-200 MB at any one time. That actually is very low compared to other ad blockers. Thanks for watching. Take care.

Is it better than Adblock / Adblock Plus?

I actually use both in different browsers, and I really don't see any difference in their performance. Adblock, Adblock Plus or Adguard all seem to work about the same. Thank you for watching. Take care.

What type of support is offered for understanding all of those settings? I am confused if this is free or not as I received the following information: AdGuard Family Plan: Lifetime Subscription
    1314 Reviews
    $29.99
    $129.99
    You save 76%

I don't believe you will find any actual support for understanding but this site may help you: adguard.com/kb/adguard-for-windows/overview/. The browser extension is free, the adguard software is not. The lifetime subscription is for the software not the browser extension.
