Loved it! I played trombone with Maynard at the Stage Band Festival in Toronto, BBC recorded us playing Give It One. I know no one has left any recent comments. I'm sure the band is long gone, and I wish I could tell them all how fabulous they all were.
The best cover of Give It One I've ever heard in 40 years!! The blend/balance/precision is the closest to the original studio version than any other, and the arrangement is out of this world!! Loved it!! Great solos too.
Wonderful! After seeing Maynard take this almost to the point of spontaneous human combustion it's so refreshing to hear it work at a relaxed and funky tempo.
I love Maynard, but you guys elevated this song to a new and amazing height! I was absolutely stunned with what you did here....Bravo! I applaud you....
I'm a diehard old school Maynard fan and I like what you've done with this. Good to see that MF's music will live on in the next generation. That's got to be the wildest trumpet I've ever seen. Great playing from all musicians!
I've listened to the original Maynard cut of this a thousand times, but man, this is one awesome cover. Love the more relaxed funky beat. And Oleg does sound a lot like Maynard's style.
Wow.......... came here from a group playing it super fast and it appeared hard for them to keep up..... This is the first time I've ever heard it slowed down and I have to say I like it better..... You get an added glimpse of the amazing harmonies within the score. The group.......pfffffffffft R O C K S O L I D! Can't think of anything else, I have marked this a favorite and will continue to listen/watch OVER and OVER. Bravo!
I love playing trumpet. Oleg solos fantastically and the trombone soloist just completely blew me away as well! Very inspiring to see musicianship at this level, please never stop playing your instruments!
Funky! Love this tempo and the off-beat feel from the original. And the drums - they say "Peace", but sure look like Peavey Radials from back in the day. Cheers!
WOW!!! As a long time die-hard Maynard Ferguson fan and someone who hosted one of his concerts in the 80's, I can say that you did far more than just do this song justice! I love the arrangement, the tempo, the bass line, the trumpet playing and those trombones and trombone solo - fantastic!
OMG I am such a fan tonight. Never heard of you. Everyone sounds incredible. And the trombonist is absolute killer! What a great solo. And I love the take on Maynard's arrangement. It's a little slower but burns hotter!!
Fantastic Oleg!!!!!!!!!!! I LOVE the arrangement and you all sound GREAT!!!!!!!!! Come to Chicago - we have some excellent repairmen here that can fix your bell. :-)
Long-time Maynard Ferguson fan here. Have some of the MF Horn vinyl albums (2, 3, 4-5 'Live at Jimmy's', Chameleon, etc.) Nicely done guys and gals - awesome job!
Holy smokes ! I’ve heard that song for 48 years from Maynard’s recordings . Yours is a mite slower And I like it better Super trombone solo Fab lead trumpet control Pjenomenal
Nicely done guys. This and "Country Road" are my two favorite Ferguson songs. Great melody with just the right amount of high range. Maynard sometimes sacrificed the melody line to keep the high range going but you nailed it here.
I played the original (Maynard's part) years ago and just love this song, but this is by far the BEST version/rendition of this classic Maynard tune I have ever heard. FANTASTIC!!! Where can I hear more of this AWESOME group???
Fantastic - many commented that the tempo was too slow. Man - I think it makes the piece more difficult - so Bravo on them. I remember taking the tempo up -so it would less strenuous- event though the staccato of the notes on the melody got to be crazy hard- I think MF has an up tempo version on YOuTube - which I don't think sounds good! This version is great!!! And that trombone solo!!!
Для тех, кто разбирается- здесь все звуки исправленные электроникой. Новые технологии творят чудеса. Хотелось бы услышать живое выступление этого трубача и группы тромбонисток )) Хотя не спорю- электронная музыка это тоже вкусно.
Love this take on Give It One! Glad to see that you laid back more on the tempo. Maynard always used to blaze it live, and I like hearing it with a little more groove. Awesome!
I love your new perspective on this tune. Wonderfully done. I'd love to see so much more that you have to offer. Please upload more for us. Cheers, Paul Baron
Wow....you guys killed this and blessed us with so much funk on this along the way!! Thanks for sharing you idea on this tune as it is one of my favorites!!
Nice job you guys! We played this tune (as part of the "MF Hit Medley") on every gig over the course of the three US tours I did with him. I'm sure he would have approved heartily of your version. Nice groove!
This was released in 1972 at a time when "JAZZ - ROCK FUSION' began to gain popularity .The popularity of "JAZZ - ROCK FUSION"woulr gradually calm down and morph into what is now known as "SMOOTH JAZZ" .
So awesome. Played that in High School Stage Band in the late 1970s.
Loved it! I played trombone with Maynard at the Stage Band Festival in Toronto, BBC recorded us playing Give It One. I know no one has left any recent comments. I'm sure the band is long gone, and I wish I could tell them all how fabulous they all were.
wowowow! The musical discipline of this band is spectacular! Intense precision gives this song a whole new take. Maynard would love it!
The best cover of Give It One I've ever heard in 40 years!! The blend/balance/precision is the closest to the original studio version than any other, and the arrangement is out of this world!! Loved it!! Great solos too.

Good comment!
This is actually faster tempo than the original vinyl.
@@jgrandydev no it's actually slower, this is the original tempo from the album th-cam.com/video/f5utuFbiALg/w-d-xo.html
Trombone solo
The bomb!
You guys have my vote !
Awesome cover. Funky get down version. Bad to the bone solo. Keeping M.F. a live. Paz!
Everyone is commenting on the Trumpet solo and rightly so, but how about a shout for that excellent bone work....amazing
"Give It One (meaning #1)."
That's what Maynard named this bad ass song that I'm too old to play anymore.
I love Maynard, but you guys elevated this song to a new and amazing height! I was absolutely stunned with what you did here....Bravo! I applaud you....
Супер виконання музичного твору - браво Олег Масляков супер трубач і колектив всі профі музиканти , таких трубачів - свистунів п`ять на весь світ...

Hadn't heard or heard of Oleg before. Nice intro to his work.
Wow, who woulda figured? A Russian with an iron cross for a bell on his trumpet would make Maynard swing!??!
that bass player is outrageous!!!
I thought he would hate this, but the late/great Stan Mark said "Yeah, man!" when I sent him this clip.
Some tunes are really able to cook at different tempos. This was a great treatment of the MF classic opener.
First time I'v e listened to Oleg he is an amazing trumpeter, his articulation and tone is spot on. Fricken' awesome !
what a sound, what a range. Really good bro
Magnificent...absolutely terrific, guys. Maynard would totally dig it!
I liked this. Most versions too fast. This sounds great! The tempo is perfect. Lead trumpet was sweet and high register. Sounded good man! Jam on...
This is soooooooooooo HOT...... Love all the brass, very well done. Thanks for this fine post listening in Palm Springs Ca.

I worked with Alan Downey. Nice to see his music is still being played.
Олег и его группа замечательно играли.
Мне очень нравится эта композиция. Не так быстро, но медленно и классно!
This has to be the only version I've seen that doesn't play it at 3 million beats per minute. Cool!!!
but not 2x speed
@@istosho3830 what?
Except the original.

Awesome tribute. We played this in HS Stage Band in the late 1970s.

OMG. I think I'm back in the late 70's, only with a 2015 Funk twist. Totally love this group.
I was fortunate to have seen MF 4 times live. You sure brought me back in time. Thank you!!
