The last Monster High note Eric hits at the end of his solo is an a above double Hi-C which is 6 notes above double high C with power absolutely insane
My favorite track from MF Horn II. MF would have loved seeing this. He was a big backer of bringing youth into the fold to see this kind of music live on eternally.
well look... i have great respect for all these great musicians... cuz i will tell you one thing not any one of us is on that stage getting paid for that gig and we r not as good as any of those guys.. there is a reason why they are up there and we r watching them... i enjoy watching them all and i hope that i can have as much talent as any of them..
one thing to know though, its possible to play that high on any mouthpiece, and the cup isnt what really gives the high notes out, they just leave less room for air to move in. a fast, concentrated, and steady stream of air is whats needed for high notes.
@Studio1417 Like jax says, it's more like 1:42 or 1:44. I suppose his saliva is contributing a lot of moisture to the air shooting through that horn, in addition to the air pressure.
There is a lot to like about this performance of Give It One, but the tempo is not one of them. Tempo is clearly slower than the version on MF Horn Two; and thus this performance really lost the edginess of the chart.
Eric does a fine job , but for whatever reason the band isn't into it. Tough to figure as this is many MFanatics' favorite chart. You'd think they'd have done something special. I agree that the '77 video is very different from the '72 album. '72 is contrast of insane brass coming over the top of this relaxed finger-snapping groove. '77 is in-yo-face never-let-up bad-ass horns ... check-out how the section slightly overblows to put an edge on it. Sadly, this misses both of those marks.
I appreciate his talent, but Eric is just "Robo-Maynard." Plus they are playing the tune at the same tempo at the album. Trying playing it at the tempo Maynard had them doing in 1978.
He's good, but the mixing is just AWFUL! Even live, MF was seamless when he came in and when the other trumpets took over. Plus the band just lacked passion. It reminds me of when rockers get orchestras to back them up in cover charts. Y simply can't cover Maynard. Don't try. You just sound like second place.
Love that it's not the usual breakneck tempo. It's a great tune, doesn't need to be rushed.
I love this tempo. Maynard got to where it was so fast it killed the whole groove....
Exactly right.
Saw Maynard three times in my life and met him and the band in San Antonio. Was one of the best shows i'd ever seen.
Joe Tabares cool
Best bowling team ever!
The rest of his trumpet section is pretty damn solid, too.
bonvivantinsf I do see roger Ingram and Wayne
@@mylesanderson5864 And the big Serafin Aguilar!
When your lead trumpet player is Wayne Bergeron I say the band's probably going to be pretty damn good
I love this version where its opened up for a lot of soloists. They all did a great job and made it their own.
The last Monster High note Eric hits at the end of his solo is an a above double Hi-C which is 6 notes above double high C with power absolutely insane
Eric Miyashiro is a freaking god on trumpet!
Amazing cover of an amazing piece of music.......blown away
My favorite track from MF Horn II. MF would have loved seeing this. He was a big backer of bringing youth into the fold to see this kind of music live on eternally.
It's WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEL OF FORTUNE, with your host, Edd Byrnes!!!
Unbelievable.....band is awesome.....literally every section sounds amazing and Eric.....holy crap man....better than Maynard.
Still the worst-dressed, best-sounding stage band of all time.
bonvivantinsf Haha
dude in front thinks is conducting a middle school jazz band🤣
From Tokyo japan? I think not. Eric is from HAWAII!
born in Hawaii lives Tokyo
@@owenstuart4479 I know him :)
Jordan Kapeliela awesome
What an amazing performance!
Bravo Eric and the whole band.
THIS IS THE CORRECT TEMPO!!! 😀😀❤️
Dang! Smokin trumpet!!!!
Is it just me liking the slower version? Love MF but it's nice to hear the subtleties.
Miyashiro's rockin it!
And anchoring the trumpet section, Wayne Bergeron, playing lead!
2:43 straight rippin’

Nobody got paid for that gig. I know because I was the MC.
To clarify......this is written by Alan Downey - for maynard. Maynard co wrote the odd bar.
That alto was killing it
THE 1974 WHEEL OF FORTUNE PILOT THEME BY MAYNARD FERGUSON
eargasm
If you increase the speed to 1.25, it's practically as if you were listening to Ferguson himself live.
Thats some fast and warm air he's got. The steam proves it.
Looks like (former Maynard drummer) Stockton Helbing at the podium here!
Ray Brinker's drumming is great here! 💪🏼🥁🎶
this pace is PERFECT
Excellent!
Looks like they are all in a bowling league, but they sound great!
hi eric you like meynard thanks for the tribute!!
3:54 I didn't know Wayne actually played in the Tribute Band, I thought he was just a guest soloist...
"Ill be damned if I'm wearing that baby shit brown bowling shirt."
-Stan Mark-
was that smoke coming out of his trumpet
+Johnathan Johnson His lips are so tightly pressed together that it creates heat when he blows into the trumpet. His spit evaporates because of this.
That's crazy
Johnathan Johnson
Great player though, love his sound.
Indoor show.
Commonly known as fog breathe
one thing to know though, its possible to play that high on any mouthpiece, and the cup isnt what really gives the high notes out, they just leave less room for air to move in. a fast, concentrated, and steady stream of air is whats needed for high notes.
Why is it so slow?
But damn can Eric blow the horn! WOW!!!!!
okay thank you, you help me very much:D
I have no idea, but he is sure flipping us all off. He is full of steam! Buh, duh - chh!
1:40 "If your trumpet is not smoking, you're not playing high enough" Probably Maynard Ferguson.
Um dos melhores do mundo
Eric is a monster
you can't listen to this after listening to Maynard's take from 1977. Not even close.
This isn't up to normal speed at all, but I like this better. Maybe just a hair faster, though.
4 people were shaking afterward and accidentally missed the like button.
thank you:D
The bowling team has its own jazz band.
Can anybody explain how to play such a nice slurp at 2:51?
Impresionante
Carl Fischer, Stan Mark, Waynard and Roger.
Haha, nice, Waynard
condensation, he was moving the air so fast it created condensation.
@Studio1417 Like jax says, it's more like 1:42 or 1:44. I suppose his saliva is contributing a lot of moisture to the air shooting through that horn, in addition to the air pressure.
@Studio1417 dude is blowing the devil out of the trumpet...
Does anyone know if that's Chad Smith on set?
TheDeadNord Funny
It’s Will Ferrell
Do I see Waynard in the section?
A little after, yes.
this is hip as fuck man holy shit
orale este si q.......... es campeon. ;)
Top
that "steam" at 1:46 is the result of proper playing... using warm dark air to make a good tone... it just shows how good they really are.
What's with the JiffyLube smocks?
Land of a thousand dances + I wanna be sedated
Change my mind
Anyone know what equipment he's using?
@Baritone45 Sorry about that. I believe TH-cam used a different video player 2 years ago, so the time at which the steam appears probably changed.
2:45..... holy run!!!!!
Was that Wayne Bergeron at 3:44?
DocXtheGreat Yes he's in the middle of the section
@logansGT thats the actual tempo
Nussa, Fodásticamente Foda
Eric was definitely superior to MF. No screeching and actually in tune. I always thought Maynard's band was better than he was.
There is a lot to like about this performance of Give It One, but the tempo is not one of them. Tempo is clearly slower than the version on MF Horn Two; and thus this performance really lost the edginess of the chart.
yea Who cares who's better...It's about making music, not competing. It's not high school
waooooooooooooooooo lo mejor
Nice performance, but the acoustics could use some better balancing. When Miyashiro san was playing you could barely hear the rest of the band.
Woah steam came out of his trumpet at like 1:46
i think you mean power
furguson plays faster than them, but they are
amazing
Why is it so slow?
@Studio1417 No need to be sorry. I just didn't want people to miss it.
can everyone say me the name of a mouthpiece with you can play high easier???
the other one's are just really fast!
Eric does a fine job , but for whatever reason the band isn't into it. Tough to figure as this is many MFanatics' favorite chart. You'd think they'd have done something special.

Sadly, this misses both of those marks.
ah, a much better tempo on this. Eric is da' man!!
@coolteach3rdg the drummer seems to be holding them back....maybe the rest of the orchestra just can handle it at speed
Skip Olsen your probably right
yeah, it is, he does this in some of the other MF band tribute videos too! its pretty sweet!
No Maynard Ferguson - no "Give It One"
This tune always sounded like 70’s porn music….😂😂
-_-... u do know thats how the original was recorder.
iluvsystemofadown yeah
after to listing to the Maynard ferguson from the 70's it just souunds dead. otherwise really good job.
1:34 ............ o_O
I appreciate his talent, but Eric is just "Robo-Maynard." Plus they are playing the tune at the same tempo at the album. Trying playing it at the tempo Maynard had them doing in 1978.
I never cared for the increase in tempo MF did later on. This is a nice speed.
Not Maynard. Sorry.
that is some of the saddest shit ive ever heard. i wish i could go back and unhear it.
The lead trumpet nails the parts, but the song is done too slow, and the rhythm section is meh.
He's good, but the mixing is just AWFUL! Even live, MF was seamless when he came in and when the other trumpets took over. Plus the band just lacked passion. why so slow?? awsome job otherwise
i went to school with scott englebright. this guy is terrible....
YUCK! PRACTICE AT HOME, ERIC!
