I admire LVD's deck building (and also gameplay) so much. Even in archetypes that were vastly explored he brings something new to the table. It takes years playing multiple formats to distinguish, for example how the tutors would be too slow here (also a non-enchantment to your 60), and to not include some synergistic but clunky cards such as Calix. There was a bunch of times that I built a deck and kinda gave up on it for being underpowered in the environment I played it in and some time later copy pasted a more powerful version that I saw here with far more success. Great content, fantastic quality, my very favorite mtg content creator.
Love the fact you're leaning towards Historic, there's a lot more stuff to tweak and poke around, lot more cards to build around, combos to explore, a lot more memes as well. Thank you!
Love the Wishcoin love in the intro, and love these decks. You’ve singlehandedly kept me interested in Historic through your expert navigation, unbiased information, and sense of humor!
I really love your videos. Best mtg arena channel around. I like that you discuss your deck in detail so that people who aren’t familiar with the deck can understand the win conditions and be able to strategize along with you. Also I really like how you discuss your thought process in real time with full detail. It makes for a very engaging experience for the viewer. Best of luck with the channel my man.
@@monochrome3003 the original rule was that the only copy in play could be the first one played. If you had a legend out, your opponent couldn't play the same one without it going immediately to the graveyard.
Sigil of the empty throne is one of my favourite finishers since it came out. Having a synergy creature to ramp with, makes the deck much better and reliable as well. Nice one, cheers
I love enchantment decks, one of my favorite decks was built around Setessan Champion. This one looks damn impressive, defintely going to spend my wildcards on it!
ayy my favorite archetype in historic! i run a different finisher instead of empty throne but it is satisfying to beat down with an endless stream of angels for sure
What's your finisher of choice? For me, it is Destiny Spinner. Opponents think they can leave my Sanctum Weaver alive and point their spot removal at Sythis but then I untap, drop Destiny spinner, animate 2-3 lands, and kill them in 1 shot.
@@greenyodadude i play best of 3, i usually use 2x approach of the second sun in the main deck as the default finisher. i play it alongside setessan champion for even more card draw, so once you have sanctum weaver mana and the solemnity lock going i can usually play approach, play an enchant or two, and play approach again in one turn. its very good against the mirror match, and the goal is to be able to end the game fast enough that you can get under the ugin decks that otherwise really pee in our cornflakes. for control matchups i have 4x destiny spinners to make things uncounterable and 2x gaea's blessing if they try to win by mill and countering approaches
Been playing this archetype for a while now and I have found one or two Lair of the Hydra help a lot against decks capable of interacting with Sigil or Destiny Spinner
On 29:00 I think playing Rest in Piece was a mistake. If you draw an engine, you won't have any enchantments left to draw cards, so it's better to hold rip. On the other hand, making a wolf was definitely the right move, could kill one of the two 2/2s of chump block. NVM, saw the note immediately after I wrote this. But I think it cost you the game, wolf 1 turn early could make a huge difference, since you could save 1 more dork, and go off with the presence.
Legend i dont really remember if u have done this before but if the opportunity ever arrives and u do those clips of awesome plays before the video starts u should put duel of fates as the audio while that happens much love
I think this deck really wants 1 copy of the 2 mana 2/3 that prevents spells from being countered. It's crucial in the scenarios where you risk decking yourself, since it can win the game the same turn you draw it if you have enough mana, unlike sigils, which are vulnerable to board wipes, and can lead to decking.
Awesome video as always, I love enchantress decks. I've been having a lot of fun with my variant on this deck since they put MH2 on arena. I didn't even consider the solemnity/nine lives package - I was just running more 2 and 3 drops in the form of banishing light and destiny spinner to protect my game plan. I also run a single copy of Cathars Crusade as another top-end enchantment/win-con to tutor up with sterling grove. I'm kind of on the fence about it, as most the time it feels like a "win more" card, and is technically a 5 mana do nothing if you don't have sigil out in the first place. That said, I have had games where the counters were the difference between attacking for lethal and not. What are your thoughts on Cathars Crusade in this deck?
I agree that just having more ramp and interaction, as well as some main deck spinners makes the deck more consistent than the 9lives combo, mostly because 9lives doesn't do much given how many 4/4s you can poop out in around the same time it takes to set it up. However, may I suggest Overwhelming splendor instead of Cathar's crusade? It just ends the game vs cat/oven decks, which are impossible to deal with otherwise, and it's still an insane card to resolve vs anything else. If you want to get really janky, you might want to try a Naya version splashing for Blood sun and Lotus field. Been loving it lately, but didn't do enough testing to recommend burning wild cards on it. If you have the cards, try it out, it can get really crazy if you curve out and just having Cindervines in the borad for UW control and phoenix decks already seems worth the red splash, that card is so good right now.
@@omgopet thanks for the info! I actually have overwhelming splendor as a sideboard card for BO3, but I'll definitely try it out in the main deck for BO1. I do run the new man lands from AFR, so blood sun is a bit of a nombo with that - otherwise I like that idea. Cheers fellow enchanter 🍻
@@dvdbradford makes sense, man lands are good at pressuring walkers vs control decks, it's just that the selesnya ones are the worst ones in the cycle. At least the back one doesn't die to surprise sharknado. In what fraction of games do they make a difference for you? I cut them at some point because I hated topdecking a taped land vs aggro decks. I use the white castle instead to not get screwed by boardwipe into Narset, but it's mostly just a bad plains.
Did you used to say checkland, fastland, shocklamnd? That’s how I learned the terms, and its also much easier to make sense of during deck tech. Now you just say the land name? Harder for me to learn all those. Love your channel though. So glad you’re out there :)

It bugged me just a little how often you had the opportunity to run out two Sterling Groves to give all of your enchantments Shroud (including both Groves) but didn't. I know it ultimately doesn't matter, but you had the chance to cover those bases and almost never did.
@@scholarofthelosttrove LVD usually plays a thematically appropriate sleeve. That one seems generic. I guess it fits a "constellation" theme, but that feels weak.
Just asking to learn, but especially against blue, why do people avoid playing lands first to avoid cost based counters? Like the neoform match he could have avoided the Spell Pierce by dropping the land first.
Spell Pierce is unless you pay 2, so would've countered regardless. Against decks where you expect Censor and Jwari Disruption you play land first. It's a good habit to wait on playing the land to deny as much information as possible.

Why did opponent from match 5 concede? If he went for dragonstorm into Bladewing + Terror he could deal infinite damage: reanimate Bladewing - trigger Terror - sac one Bladewing to legend rule - repeat Nine Lives would have only stopped 9 ETBs but then you would lose the game. Am I missing something? I guess they did not have the combo in hand and thought you had a solemnity but it is still an early scoop
