      I’m confused about this, when I jump to the person in the most danger I immediately get splatted because they camp my jump location. And how does this help with chargers specifically? I’ve been using chargers since the release of splatoon 2 and this advice is new to me.

    When I'm trying to learn chargers, the biggest thing I wish is that the training room was as dynamic visually as the stages. I wish it was colorful and distracting, I wish there was a moving background, I wish that the moving dummies moved randomly, etc. The training room is too pristine and I have trouble relating things like distance and speed in there to distance on a real stage
    I know there's recon, but recon doesnt have dummies. I need them to let me put those octoling AIs from the end of After Alterna into recon.

    • @onomayonnaise
      @onomayonnaise ปีที่แล้ว +26

      I mean, you could just hop into a match and treat it like practice. You got all the moving targets and flashy colors you'd want there

    • @pokaay3163
      @pokaay3163 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      While I agree that I wish the training room had more options and was more dynamic, you gotta be able to set your worries aside and just treat regular matches like practice. It can be hard because it feels like the real deal so if you perform poorly it can be discouraging, but nothing beats practice in an actual match. The more you can get used to it in ranked especially, the less you’ll care if you lose and the better you could learn as a result. And forget about the ranking system, too. Focus on your skills as a charger and let the ranking come second to that until you feel like you can start getting serious about it.

      i mean to be fair, what sub does an e-liter even want? Mine is one of the better things it could get other than burst

    • @SaturnFreak
      @SaturnFreak ปีที่แล้ว +20

      @@apersonwhomayormaynotexist9868 E-Liter wants a lethal bomb so badly. Anything that can make a close-quarters matchup more bearable or give it a secondary option for mid-range pressure that won't require it to charge its shot all the way. The Splatterscope having Splat Bombs is a godsend because it can chuck or bowl the bomb to scatter enemies backwards and then snipe them from a distance, or place one at its feet to get out of sticky short-range situations like when it's riding the tower or when it's ambushed from behind.

    • @SaturnFreak
      @SaturnFreak ปีที่แล้ว +8

      At the same time, the Splatterscope would do anything for a good special. The Ink Vac is quite possibly one of the worst specials in the game, and even though it has its occasional uses, those uses require the Charger to play anti-thetical to how its meant to be played, that is, far away from the enemies and the line of fire. It would enjoy virtually any other special. Killer Wail, Ink Storm, Crab Tank, Inkzooka, Wave Breaker, Big Bubbler, you name it.

    One thing i should point out. Hiding the laser as a scoped charger is near impossible. Unless you want to look at the floor or wall then flick, it's just not worth it. Tracking and muscle memory is very important especially at high levels of play.

    I've been wanting to get into chargers since splatoon 1. When the game first came out I used them a little bit but had to get used to motion aiming so didn't stick to it very long. Then I got to S rank using blaster, 52, and Tentatek/Octoshot, and I realized at that stage that trying to practice as a charger beginner at S rank was getting me nowhere. Everyone knows the counterplay and I struggled to learn or practice the basic mechanics of the weapon. So I made a side account since the wii u doesn't have paid online and worked my way back to A with just chargers. I... still did not get very good.
    2 came and went. I didn't really bother playing ranked. I was too burnt out from 1 and stuck to story, salmon run, and a few splatfests.
    Now I'm putting way more time into 3. I've hit S+, max hazard, top 5% big run, max level tableturf, 100% story (all stages with all weapons), etc, and I still can't say I'm a competent charger player. Better than I was in 1 for sure, but the average player is so much better than we were back in 1 I wouldn't exactly call it progress.
    Dozens of hours and little to show for it, these weapons are just very hard to use.

    • @pokaay3163
      @pokaay3163 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Charger is a hard weapon to master for sure, and the average charger user has more than likely had hours and hours of experience from 2 and 1, if they’re not a new player. So yeah, most people will know it more than you do, but the important thing is that you have fun playing them. As long as you can keep coming back to chargers, you’ll definitely get better. Maybe watch your replays and analyze things other than your aim too, like your positioning, advantage/disadvantage awareness, and when you should have pushed or should have backed up.. a good charger player isn’t just someone who aims well after all.

      Maybe a little similar to why Hydra had splashdown, because splashdown was assumed by the devs to be way better at killing rollers behind you than the main weapon, a panic button for when your weapon is not right for the job.

      In splat zones, I can use it to not only make my team 95% invincible, but it stops the opponents ink from touching the ground, allowing us to take control, so it's pretty good there. It's also good for holding the tower on tower control, but other than that it kinda sucks for personal usage outside of support.

    I would like to see some different more niche kits for chargers, because it would be soo cool to have a splat charger or squiffer or even a goo tuber with ultra stamp or zip caster. So basically the ultra stamp would be perfect for when someone is pushing at you and you're trying to survive but then it's like a reverse card and you start stampeding in their way or just yeet the stamp at them. I noticed your camera movement right as you go to shoot is insanely jittery. Like, the movement towards the opponent is good, but right as you let go of the trigger you just flick randomly.
    For example, at 33:39, your movement towards the roller is spot on, but right as you go to shoot you flick so far downwards that the shot hits _the ledge_
    This is generally a problem of nerves. I find that before ranked matches it helps to just take a moment in the training room to just take a few deep breaths. Just clear my mind. In my experience, I get more consistent picks when I slow down and shoot intentionally instead of going for speed and flicks. Whatever gets you calm should do the trick.

    Recently I've been using chargers often and Sub Power Up has been really helpful for E-Liter and Splat Charger/Splatterscope. The longer throwing range for splat bombs lets you apply pressure around corners/ledges from further away, keeping you safer. Ink mines grow in radius as well, allowing them to more easily tag players with high movement speed, as well as better painting ability. Whenever I'm not feeling like Respawn Punisher, Sup Power Up is a good alternative :)

  • @Coalgate_frsh
    @Coalgate_frsh ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I certainly agree, as a charger main. So im going to share my experiences
    I cannot stand: the bamboozler, the snipewriter, splat charger
    My mains: elitre scoped, splatterscope (my favourite), and goo tuber
    Muscle memory: this is incredibly important, over time you get used to the ins and outs of chargers. You may not notice it, but splatterscope is quick and agile while elitre is slow and perched. It took me years of practice, but it pays off.
    Chargehold: ..its not that useful, im sorry. I only really use it with the goo tuber. A lot of people think that chargehold is OP, but no, its not. If you are a scoped charger main like myself you can easily kill an enemy before the get to you. Also, the accuracy is much better with scoped chargers, I really cannot go back; you don't notice it until you can't really see a long range enemy. And can't track them...
    Hiding the laser: YES, usually I will make an arch and then BAM. They're dead! Try to kill as quickly as possible. Also, right side peaking is good like you said
    Confidence: try to flick your shots, act confident, keep your hands steady. Nothing looks worse to me then a inconfident charger.
    Duals: chargers are considered difficult to play and require aim. As such, chargers will try to challenge you. Its really weird, like a tradition. Chargers will try to flank eachother. This usually happens 1-3 times per match, one of them wins. It might be an insecurity problem, but I always try to kill as much as possible if there is another charger. The one with the best aim and most kills win.
    Edit: play ranked! It really helps your aim when aiming at harder targets. My favourite is rainmaker, the rainmaker carrier is going to be slowed down and it makes for a lot of fun. Tower control and clam blitz is... fine, I guess? I just hate splat zones, all my homies hate splat zones.

  • @GurinObservationArchive
    @GurinObservationArchive ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Speaking about the chargers being hard bit, i will say that the main thing about that is the time you need to master the weapon. Imo, with enough practice, anybody can do very well, but it takes a very long time to learn.
    I started playing chargers in 2, where i went from a scoped e-liter to a non-scoped vcharger then onto a scoped vcharger. At the beginning, The main issue is getting used to your range and building up muscle memory for your aim, and i remember just spending hours in the training area before i even played a match, just making sure i could hit my shots reliably with flicks. Then i slowly made my way up the ranks in each mode all the way to X.
    Practical experience in games was definitely the most helpful, though aiming ability very much so as well, but once you get those down you can pretty much transition to any charger as long as you get used to the range. Plus, your improved aim will help out everywhere else too. Good luck to any aspiring charger players!!

    I would only try the GooTuber, Snipewriter and Squiffer in Clam Blitz again, even the last times was not successful with them.
    Squiffer has the gameplay style to play in Clam Blitz.
    Snipewriter can give paint with his sub and with full charge you could get 2 opponents (4 of the 5 shots).
    GooTuber has torpedo and missiles for scouting and kill with 65/70% of charge, even the tab shots are very helpful.

I tried the squiffer which I’d never seriously played before and had a lot of fun jumping around and flick shotting. I dont know what I’d have done if I had an eliter lmao.
