- Addressing the pressing issue of deteriorating Air Quality across specific regions in the United States and Canada, I embarked on a mission to enhance the air filtration system of the Rivian R1T. In a bid to counteract this challenge, I decided to explore the viability of swapping out the conventional cabin air filter with a HEPA alternative. Notably, Rivian currently doesn't offer a HEPA filter option, prompting me to venture onto Amazon's platform. Would you re-do the test with the settings on "fresh" instead or "recirc". If you want to test the filter, the results will be more accurate drawing in fresh outside air. Recirc reduces the amount of air drawn in from the outside world.
This would be important for the wind speed measurement. In the video the wind speed was only measured with recirc on which means no air was flowing through the filter, hence why there was no difference in wind speed.

Thank you - great video! Stupid question - is the filter you replaced is for outside air only? The reason I am asking - you set the air circulation (in settings) to be internal (aka no external air). And then you tested for 2.5 particles, But filter was not engaged in this case, no? Unless Rivian has another (internal cabin) filter. And that is why you got almost the same results. Maybe you can do the same test when AC setting is to get external air, and then filter should make a difference, imho.

@@riviantrackr got it - thank you, I wonder if you select internal circulation, there will be no filtration at all, right? I think my other cars pass any air through the filter, and just open/close the air inflow depends on the mode. Much better design IMHO. Mainly because if you have very "polluted" air inside, with a lot of dust, all this dust will get into the air system and will not be filtered at all.

You can see in the video like half way through when testing the new filter that recirc is still on. I don’t think he ever turned it off.
If you left it on for 15 to 20 minutes. What is the results?

Thank you for doing this test, however, you're leaving out some important factors in the video. Recirculate setting on/off. Regardless of what Rivian says, do the test with Recirculate on and another with it off as it eliminates all doubt thus making a more informative video. Next, what is the average life of the HEPA filter before replacing it. Clearly this will vary depending on where the vehicle is driven but if you're going to impose your opinion that there is no reason not to use this HEPA filter, this becomes an important variable in that decision. You repeatedly said $40-$50 for the filter (yet the Amazon link has it less than $29) as if that's no big deal for "US" to spend ... repeatedly. IMHO, stick to the facts. Report the data you collect with less opinion which I believe will a more positive impact on people subscribing to your channel.
P.S. When you need to do something with two hands in the video, consider a camera stand or have a family member or friend hold the camera.

I appreciate the text however you are comparing a dirty used air filter with a brand new HEPA filter. To improve the study You should test a new plain filter with a new HEPA filter. This will offer more accurate data.
The filter I replaced was less than a month old from Rivian.
