    I’m disagreeing with your Orlando Magic worst pick. Mike Miller won rookie of the year and is arguably the best player in that 2000 draft. I’d say worst picks would be Michael Doleac 12 in 1998, Courtney Alexander 13 in 2000, Fran Vazquez 11 in 2005 and never came over.

    Some of these picks should be judged on who else was available. If you get a role player with a high pick, but the draft class is weak, it's not necessarily a bad pick.

      100 percent like when he was talking about bargnani there was only one player in the top 15 picks of that draft to make an all star team and that was Aldridge and when you look at players they could of reasonable picked it wasn’t a bad pick at all just a very weak class

      very true. also Kobe for best pick by the hornets doesn't make sense. same goes for bill Russel. I get they are the best player. the title just makes it misleading. I would also even give ginobili the nod as best pick by the spurs. Duncan was a no brainer. not like this was genius drafting. just smart use of an injury season that resulted in 20 years of excellence

      Jonny Flynn at #6 is an even worse pick when you consider what a deep draft it was for point guards. They could have had Steph Curry, Jrue Holiday, Jeff Teague, Ty Lawson, Brandon Jennings or Darren Collison instead - and that's just point guards.

      Luka Samanic at #19 from the 2019 draft is probably their new worst pick now. Pretty insane that they picked Keldon Johnson at #29 in the same draft who turned out better. You also had guys like Brandon Clarke, Jordan Poole, THT still on the board at that time.

      He's a 2nd round pick but became one of the core players of Knicks 2 championships
      He was injured in the 1970 finals but came back in the game 7 to help win it for the Knicks
      And don't tell me he played in the weak era, he play defense on Wilt during that Finals, Kareem was present during that time, Also there's Dave Cowens, Elvin Hayes, Bob Lanier, and Bob McAdoo

      Ewing was probably one of the most underappreciated players in the NBA history
      Not meant to discredit Willis Reed and what he was already achieved, but if we compared both of them, Ewing basically have role players as teammates
      But then again it wasn't his fault, Knicks management should've bought star players to play with him during his prime

      @@gm2407 People thought Durant would be approximately as good as he is today, and he was the overwhelming consensus #2 pick, even considering Oden's injury worries. That's how good of a prospect Oden was, it really is a massive shame when people think he was a bust.

      I took issue with that too, but the fact that Reed was a 2nd round guy and was as good as he was maybe makes the pick more impressive. Getting a player I’d consider as an all-time great in the second round is far less likely than getting a great like Walt or Ewing as high picks which I’m pretty sure they both were (certain about Ewing, unsure about Walt).

If the question simply is the best player selected by every team then yeah it’s Ewing or Frazier (though I’d make an argument for Reed over Frazier), but if you’re looking at the quality of a pick, it’s far more savvy and better value from the selection to get Reed in the second round then Frazier or Ewing as high lottery picks. Basically, Reed greatly over performed his draft positioning which makes the pick have greater value

Because then, jokic would have a case for nuggets, marc gasol better value than conley (although i do think gasol was better overall than conley) and so on. Obviously he considered the entire career of the player.

    12:04 whaaaat? Bargnani average 11.6 points in his rookie season, 15.2 in 7 seasons at Toronto and 14.3 in his career. Really you’re saying that players like Rafael Araujo (2004 8th pick, 2.8 career average) and Jonathan Bender (1999 5th pick, traded to Indiana, 5.5 career average) were better picks then Andrea Bargnani.     If you're going to pick the worst picks considering how high their position was, then picking the best picks should also consider their pick position. That means Jokic is undoubtedly a better pick than Melo. For a 2nd round pick, this guy has gotten so much value and Melo, well he'll most likely end up a HoF but his pick was already so high in the draft and has performed beyond what's expected of a 3rd pick, but Jokic played WAY BEYOND what's expected of a 41st pick. The fact that it's even an argument on who's to be picked there should mean that Jokic should easily get that.

    Clyde Drexler is one of the NBA’s 50 greatest players ... but he’s not the greatest player drafted by the Blazers. That has to be Bill Walton (also on 50 greatest players list). He has 2 championships to Clyde’s 1 but one of his championships was actually in Portland.

    Some of these guys like Greg Oden and Michael Beasley actually were good in college but injuries upended their careers so we never got to see them at full potential. Injuries really can harm a career.

      @@chuckiebrownbfly Greg was a better player when he was healthy than Sam - but Bowie was NOT a bad player, he just wasn't worth a #2 pick in 20/20 hindsight.
      Keep in mind that Sam DID make the "all Rookie" team in the NBA, and that he was an All-American in college - and that Portland needed a big man at the time, as they had picked Clyde the Glide the year before they thought Jordan would be redundant (given Clyde Drexler DID make the Hall and the Dream Team and the 50 at 50 team, that's a defendable choice even in 20/20 hindsight).
      But Michael would not have gone first in that draft even had Portland HAD the first pick - Akeem would still have been the #1.

    Spurs don’t have a lot of draft miscues, but their worst would have be either Alfredrick Hughes at 15 in 1985, or Luka Samanic, who was just drafted in 2019, and has now been waived by 3 teams. Or Joshua Primo at 12 in 2021, who’s already done. Their record in recent years is pretty bleak, unless they luck into a Duncan again.

    You clearly never heard of Earl Jones, 1984 #1 pick, 23rd overall, by the Lakers!! Only played 2 games for the Lakers, didn't score any points. Played 12 games the next year for the Bucks, scored 13 in his NBA career. I had to look up the stats, but I knew about Jones, he sucked.

      Yeah but I feel like when people are comparing players they need to stop going off naratives. The Clippers choked in the bubble but that shouldn't mean people should forget the fact that Kawhi Leonard at 27/28 years old has built one of the best resumes in todays NBA and if he retired tomorrow he'd still go down as an all time great player

    Eddy Curry averaged 12 ppg for the Bulls. 14 and 16 ppg in his last 2 seasons with the Bulls. Worst pick for the Bulls is Marcus Fizer. He was drafted 4th overall and didn’t do anything for us.

    I know I'm biased, but Pervis Ellison won MIP in 1991-1992 when he had 20 ppg, 11.2 rpg, 2.7 bpg. If it weren't for injuries, he might have been an All-star. I'm sure the Kings have made worst picks than him

    I'd say for the Pacers, the best draft was Kawhi Leonard at 15 in 2011, even though they would eventually trade him to the spurs for george hill. Although reggie was a good player, Kawhi's finals mvp and championships puts leonard over Miller in my eyes.

      Better than carmelo anthony? No, not easy and it's too early to tell. Value alone doesn't overtake the fact melo was one of the best scorers in the nba for his time, and is a future HOF

    Dude did Curry and Sweetney dirty haha. Think for Thabeet they should have made him even taller for the animation since he was drafted in part to being very tall.
    Also, Steve Nash being shown shorter than AI when the former is 6'3 and the latter is 6'0..the disrespect.

    I like Reggie Miller and I think he’s definitely the best PACER to play, but I would argue Kawhi was a better overall player having won 2 titles and several DPOY awards
