- After years of manga collecting there have definitely been some manga series that have left me disappointed! As a result, in this video I discuss some of the manga series that i have dropped. There might be some manga in this list that surprise you but these are just my opinions so try not to take them too seriously.

Magi is a phenomenal series that is epic and adventurous. I think it's one of the best shonens out there's Magi covers plenty of themes with a great cast of Characters. I think Magi would definitely be worth your time to pick back up.
When i reached out to you on twitter i didnt realise how many lines you used in this video that i would go onto use in my video, i swear i didnt carbon copy you😂 awesome video man! Also yes Magi is one of my favourite shonen under Shaman King, OP and Bleach, i found it very enjoyable and Sinbad is one of my favourite written characters in Manga!

Congratulations dude. Super happy for you. Liked the “dropped” video too. Ppl need to realize that sometimes even “acclaimed” series don’t mesh with everyone. I’ve started and dropped Vagabond, twice. And Blade of the Immortal is one of my favorites of all time so it’s not like I don’t like the genre
Thanks man I appreciate that ! Yeah it can get annoying when people don’t understand that everyone has different tastes 😂 Also I love Vagabond but it can drag in parts and the hiatus can be off putting too for sure
I recently picked up Black Butler. Let's see if I like it

This is such a great video, really nice hearing your thoughts on why you dropped certain series. I feel the same about comedy manga its always a hit or miss for me ahaha 👍

I completely agree with you on one piece and my hero. Been sat on the fence if I should carry on or not. Got to volume 26 on one piece and 21 on my hero but haven't brought any new volumes for either in about a year

Thanks dude 🤘🏻 yeah I think they are generic Shonen and they succeed in that genre but it can get boring pretty quickly !
I still have all my Beanos lol. Used to love Calamity James and Roger the Dodger. Also, when it comes to battle shonen, once you've read 2 or 3 you've pretty much read them all. They're far to formulaic and very easy to grow out of

I love one piece yet I can definitely see why someone would drop it. You gotta be in for the adventure and if your not feeling it by 30 then you can safely drop it. Also that shirt is so dope

one piece being an endless typa story and oda just ending it whenever he feels like it is kinda well not how it is you see when you get to the later arcs of the series you realised everything since ch 1 was all connected to this one big thing so its kinda all planned out but yea its still take alot of dedication to really get into the series.
You’re generous with your three volume rule. I give a series one volume to wow me.
I know it seems a lot but often it can take a good while for some series to find their feet. Blade of the immortal is a prime example
I struggled through the beginning of One Piece, now I’ve got through the introduction I’m dipping into it in between reading other manga and novels. It is holding my interest but I couldn’t see myself binging the whole 50 One Piece manga I have in my library.
Hey remember me? haha I remember you mentioning you'd bring up One Piece at some point great video. Nisekoi I was hesitant at first on that one you just solidified it for me it sounds kinda meh even for harem manga standards for me. also Gag manga I would recommend if you have not already read Urusei Yatsura it is really good and is quite funny thing had me rolling. and My hero Academia oh gosh someone who feels almost the same as me on it I never got on Academia and in my opinion that series is quite overrated and overhyped to high heaven.

@@OnTheShelf64 no problem you do very good videos and I can see you actually read and know and like the manga you have on your shelves unlike many other manga haul videos I have watched and such quality stuff. haha yeah I am surprised too I felt the same way as you I was thinking I was one of only few who did not like MHA but nope seems you feel similar Lol. And yes Urusei Yatsura is great as far as gag manga goes and this is coming from someone who mostly reads shonen action but I gave yatsura a try and fell in love with it. it is my first gag manga and I felt unsure about it at first but is worth it. I hear Dr.Slump is pretty good too but underrated is done by Akira Toriyama before Dragon ball and that is a gag manga ya might like that too but none of the larger manga youtubers talk about it. haha it is up to us smaller ones to get out a wider varity of manga titles out there Lol XD
Totally get where you’re coming from on MHA. I still really enjoy shonen but I’m 19 so I will probably phase out of it in the future. The only series I’ve ever dropped were Tokyo Ghoul and Inuayashiki. With Tokyo Ghoul it just got really gross and weird and I just said fuck it. Inuayashiki I’m more open to picking up again because I was younger when I read it and also Oku is realllly relentless with his stories (I enjoyed Gantz though). Congratulations on your engagement! Thanks man ! Yeah well spotted it is (I bought it preowned though 😂🤘🏻) I do still enjoy Shonen but I use it now to take a break from the more mature series when I’m in the mood for something more light hearted ! I would deffo give inuyashiki another shot though if you enjoyed Gantz

I dropped one piece too. I think it’s because I’m in my 20’s but I just couldn’t connect to any of the characters.
It definitely isn’t for everyone but the fan base can be quite vocal about it 😂
One Piece is good I don't think it is cause you are in yer 20's or anything one thing I attribute dropping One Piece is..well atleast for me why I dropped it is the series is too freakin long! I read up to 4 volumes loved it but the series is just waaaay too long. 95 volumes and counting as we speak and the series is still not ended yet. so basically if you never started One Piece on the day it first started and then followed it faithfully up to now you will always be behind on it is just waaaay too long that is what made me quit it. There is no feasible way I can see myself catching up not even reading the chapters online for free can get me caught up fast ugh and the anime? hoo boy last time I saw there were over 900 episodes out now so yeeeah if I had started One Piece earlier than I would maybe be right on top of it but just man it needs to end already how can 1 manga run so long? its beaten out Naruto and Bleach combined.
@@Naglfar94 you can read at your own pace. dont read it for the sake of catching up. (im still at Skypeia and im enjoying it without looking at spoilers on internet).

It would still take me forever tho ugh One Piece it is like one of those manga I like and would love to continue (but I have so many other manga I wanna get through first) and like ah I feel like I may never get very far in seeing how the story unfolds. I guess it is a good thing I am rather slow with One Piece because I dunno where I would even out all those books if I was up to speed on every volume (I only have 2 bookshelves in my room and the 2nd one was only recently added and they are not that big One Piece would take an entire shelf on its own) so yeah haha
I dropped magi too, after 14 volumes:) also One Piece after 60 vol,
Ooof after 60 volumes !!! Wow I think I’d be in it for the long haul after that 😂

I like this series we have a similar option and taste on bad manga

Also dropped Hitman. I was the opposite. Really enjoyed the early chapters and volumes but they removed a lot of the fun and female characters and just lost interest. I look into it every now and again and all hype are for 'badass' chars
Black Butler was the same. Read volume 1 and just didn't like it. But I put that down to being wrong demographic.
Magi I also dropped after season 1. Again just didn't have the interest in the chars.
Nisekioi: I also dropped. Boring harem was boring lol
MHA: Dropped recently. Started off well but now I'm 30 or so volumes in and have zero connection with anyone except some pro heroes.
One Piece: I think I'm the opposite in that I dropped Bleach and Naruto for not going anywhere and One Piece actually felt like it had direction at the same points (volume 25 or so when I dropped the other two)
Beano: I dropped that when I was 6 lol ;)

I didnt even bother with my hero academia. If I want superhero stuff I can go on and read western comic. Mangas have so much more to offer with inspiring ideas for charaters, worlds, powers and so on that this was just not enough for me.

@@OnTheShelf64 If you’re not a superhero fan, might i reccomend something like Invincible? That series should be much more up your alley. It gets violent as hell though so not sure if you’re into that
