- The 320-year-old Japanese Heritage Shōya House is almost ready for visitors! 🏯
Join us for a behind-the-scenes video series with our botanical curator Robert to learn how this magistrate’s (shōya) house would have served as the center of village life.
The Japanese Heritage Shōya House will open to the public on Oct. 21, with visiting hours from noon to 4 p.m. Visitors will be able to walk through a portion of the historic home and view interior rooms from designated pathways.
"A 320 year old house"
As a construction worker.....
Im not sure yall realize how insane 320 years is.
Are you American? Buildings are commonly that old or older in Europe
@@InhabitantOfOddworldIt is a wooden house it is roth more easily. Old stone houses are very common in Europe, but the wooden houses are not really. In fact, there are some.
IDK How common in USA the original wooden houses from the beggining of the 1700's or earlier? I think there are some well maintained.
This house is older than America😂
It isn't insane, but this design timeless.
@@InhabitantOfOddworld u mean that Pile of stones?
I could listen to this gentleman for hours talk about this house. His voice is so relaxing and soothing.
I love classic Japanese architecture. Simple, clean, harmonious, and built to last. We in the west should study this more and apply it to our own buildings.
is there a full video of this 😢 i can’t get enough of it
Minimalists will die of jealousy.
Not 1 PIECE of furniture in sight.
These kind of houses nowadays are expensive. But- the technicalities in builiding it, are way studier- than any other modern structures of this time.
Is it me or it lioks like the place where the hashira's live? 😂
I would love to have a cup of tea at a gentle evening in this porch and appreciate life❤
I rly do appriciate so many japanose things iv learned from anime and other things and i just appriciate the culture the design the way the do things so different
It looks just like all the Animes.... kinda like "bleach" doesn't it lol
@@thomasjefferson6334 well yeah bc it's just normal tp them it's so different to us but that's their norm
His voice is pulling me through a wormhole
Reminds me of the homes in
Rurouni Kenshin, Mushishi, and Samurai Champloo.
The serene beauty of these homes is unmatched
Beautifully serene.
The details are just👌
I’m becoming more fond of Japanese culture simply due to the beauty of the architecture. I’m also sure I am short enough to just walk under the shoji doorways without crouching.
Yeah imo Tang Dynasty style architecture is indeed the best!
This is something I like to have, are there a way to build this in a foreign land?
Beautiful house I can stay and live with my family ❤
Demon slayer corps that You???
This is so beautiful and amazing
It's beautiful!
Rechargeable portable heaters are the solution

Beautiful.
Just outright beautiful, I'd love an authentic Japanese house. 😊😊
Genial
Absolutely stunning! How I would love to spend time in such a peaceful space.
This is truly incredible. I’d never thought architecture so important to Japanese history and culture would ever be so near.
I’m an artist, and earlier this year I started working on a piece that I had assumed wouldn’t take much research, but was sorely mistaken. I ended up studying and searching for so many more references on this style of building than I had expected that I felt I had insufficient knowledge on it to complete my piece.
Thanks to these few short tours alone, I feel like I actually understand what I was studying all those months ago!! The exposed lumber is so much more beautiful than I could have imagined!
I really hope I’m able to visit here someday, thank you to the construction crews and the project directors that were a part of this.
this is the meaning of "less is more".
its filled with life outside.
the house is the shelter and te life is also outside. we have to take care of our bodies they r our homes to live.
It looks fake. Like dust doesn't exist in its universe 🤩
Utsushi desu . 😮❤
Beautiful
