Never been. My family from East Texas. I grew up in DFW and now in Seattle. God help me outta this place. I would take East Texas all day long compared to here. At least I will be laid to rest in between Canton and Maybank at the Elm Grove cemetery lol. Y'all come and look for me hopefully in about 50 yrs or so. Most my family buried there. Ian Thompson is the name. Thanks for the video! ❤

As a native Texan, I wanted to make sure I got it right. It felt wrong when I first said it, but I wanted to keep the mistake in so people could hear the difference.

What was special about your trip that Day. TSRR had a special Whistle on engine 30. This was Southern Pacific 982’s original desert 5 chime whistle. I was there that day with my association. Texas Railway Preservation Association. We were the guys in the 982 engine crew hats and we had on our shirts on as well. This was a one time thing since TSRR allowed us to do this. Was a fun trip.

Wow, even more special than I thought! Hope you enjoyed the video, I vaguely remember seeing your group, were you the ones filming a lot?

@@LukeofAllTrades.e were the ones with the blue Jean shirts on. But slightly we were doing filming in front of the locomotive. My Coordinator was doing a thank you video for the TSRR crew for allowing us to have the whistle on the locomotive. We help them out that day as well. Plus enjoy the ride as well. But mostly we stayed on the open air section. Our Chief Mechanical officer had a spot in the Governor’s Car.

Question: if you were looking to prepay for a group of 8+ ppl, all-inclusive, which car would you pick? I fear the caboose had too few windows to really enjoy the full experience??

The views are not amazing, so I think the experience of being in the caboose might be a bigger benefit than having larger windows. If you really don't want it, I like the dome car we had, since it put you up a little higher and gave better views.

@@LukeofAllTrades. I look at airplanes all day, so subjectively I find piney woods and the occasional pasture calming. Thanks for responding! Your insight is a big help!

@@teamscoach Sounds like you'll love the views then! The best views I've ever seen from a train were from the one in Alaska, look for that one on my channel too!
