    You can tell which of the two are the cinematographers, just by watching their solo videos.
    Moog: Cool shots, transitions, drone footage.
    Marty: One take go pro.

    If it can detect wight on the seat it should let the passenger operate the gps.

    I used hate subis, then while looking for a new car, I test drove one and liked how it ran and handled, it took me years to accept how it looked, but after beating the cap out of it, I found them to be a great practical car. I now have another new outback and love it. Still have the old forester to.

      Yep. Have taken an older model all the way to the top of Fraser Island, I don't get this rant either. I've had the XT, it's not a track weapon, it's a fast SUV for those that need to carry stuff but also want a bit of performance.

  • @mike-barber
    @mike-barber 11 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    Delayed throttle response sounds like electronic throttle and some nasty super-eco-green emissions settings to kill NOx or whatever. So I'm very curious to know if the new ECU flash fixed that particular problem?
    Oh and irritating things on my Honda S2000 (which I'm sure Moog will rant about at some stage)
    1) yep, headlight washers... now connected to windscreen washers on AP2 cars
    2) damn roof won't go up unless you're stopped AND handbraked -- wonderful when you're in slow, moving traffic and it starts raining. Seriously, the roof isn't going to get ripped off at 30km/h.
    But that's about all I have to complain about, which speaks volumes. It's been a fantastic car otherwise.

  • @17473039
    @17473039 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a '93 micra Super S with chopped lowering springs, stock dampers, a white bonnet covered in peeling black paint, a worn ball joint at the front, a screeching clutch release bearing, a stereo that whines with a pitch that increases with engine revs, no spare wheel or parcel shelf, front fogs wired seperately to a switch in dash with coils of household electrical wire and brake disks at the front so thin I swear the flex when I brake hard. I love it.

    I know this video was published a long time ago but there is something which Moog said that bothered me and it's about the stock ride height. Why would he complain about that? It's an SUV, not a sedan. You can't expect it to be low like the S15.

    • @juanolazabal
      @juanolazabal 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      height is ok for me, is accesible to all terrains and is fun for a suv, but the softness its ridiculus the suspension is crap make me feel insecure in high speeds.

    • @iflystuff1
      @iflystuff1 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's not though the Forester was always a wagon until this model, which is kind of a hybrid wagon/suv

    • @bena3341
      @bena3341 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes and no
      My brother had a 04 forester and I have a 2010 forester and they handle like completely different vehicles.
      Yes the new body shape is a big higher but the stock suspension is not what it needs to be.
      A stiffer rear sway bar is a must. An sti impreza one ftw.
      Maybe do the pedders springs
      I wouldn't go as low as moog in mine tho for sure because like you said it's an SUV.
      I sold my Legacy wagon and bought the Forester because it is as fun to drive but I can drive over more stuff.

    @ahrkricardo7013 10 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    What sucks about recent cars? They have their own brains which takes all the driving fun out the windshield and smashed by the wheels. Yes, self parking cars will scrape your parking skills when frequently used; what would happen to you if you have to drive one that doesn't park itself? Cruise control can get you drowsy; and if you want to go faster, you can't until you hit a button or worse, without the button you have to step on the freaking brake pedal. What's next, self driving cars? That sucks! Might as well just take the bus and pay a little for the driver rather than the already rich oil companies only. I have nothing against Subarus, I actually dream on having one. Its just that some of these "innovations" are made to create Homo Dumbpiens, and I did not name all of them because this could get four times longer.

    • @tepidtuna7450

  • @trollturd

    I had a 01 gc8 for 12 years and had no complaints. except for all the times I blown head gaskets, had to install new timing belts, water pump, and wheel bearings twice. I had a evap solenoid go out and had to find a mechanic that was brave enough to try and fix it. The rear brakes would often have to be replaced. O2 sensor for the catalytic converter would throw trouble codes every 6 months.

    It was the 240sx in the US. Saying S13 implies a Nissan Sylvia. They do share the same chassis, in fact the front clip of the 180sx can be affixed to an S13 Sylvia, which is popular among drifters because the parts are cheaper. MOOG had an S15 Sylvia that he had to sell after losing to Marty.

      My dad had one of those systems in his 06 Holden commodore, and it was always playing up. The ironic thing is that he sold his 95 Holden caprice V8 (High performance Australian luxury car) to by the commodore because he wanted something that was, and I quote "less technical and with less electronic crap to go wrong". Me and my mum still laugh about it.

    2:00 the accerator pedal isn't actually connected to the engine, its a drive by wire set-up that all new cars have. basically you press on the accelerator and it tells the computer that you want to speed up and then the computer will open the throttle, this is particulary bad on subaru's i stall outbacks all the time because of the lag

    For the handbrake, just do like the Corvette guys do with CAGS, fool the ECU. Relocate the switch and force it to act as if the brake was on. Make it reversible so you can undo it for inspection. You can do the same with the seat belt or just keep the belt buckled.

    PS. The laptop beeping thing is in most cars because 1,5kg can couse death when you crash and thouse 1,5kg flyes around. Light washers dont work when you have daylights or when you turn your lights of (alsow in many many cars). Turbolag is quite natural and pressure is quite normal sow dont be surprised on that :)

    You know you can disable that seatbelt warning. It's pretty easy too. Get in the car and turn the key to ACC, take your seatbelt and put it in and out of the buckle like 20 times in 30 seconds of turning the key. On the 21st time leave it buckled and turn the car on. That's it, after you do that the seatbelt warning will be gone. This works on all Subaru's.

EVERY TIME i have passengers they all get locked in. Plus the doors refuse to stay open. They either close on my leg or I have to hold them open with my foot while I climb out .

    The massive turbo lag and acceleration out of the residue pressure from turbo after lifting is shared with WRX. Also the annoying beep ignoring driver presence or slowing down alltogether. But lowering the Forester? I'd make it stiffer and possibly lift it even more, it is really capable off-road for a SUV.

    On my friends MY11 STI the seatbelt sensor beeping could be disabled by repeatedly clicking the seatbelt something like 50 times or around there.

    And when upgrading things the engine bay is a nightmare. Simply changing the BPV means you have to remove the intercooler to connect it to the recirc hose.

    You can disable the seat belt alarm by unbuckling you seat belt like 30 times in 60 seconds and doing some other stuff, you can find it online I've disabled the alarm on all my cars including a 07 Subaru outback. Good luck Moog

    the seat belt beeping can be turned off by turning the key into on but dont start then click the seatbelt in and back out within 30 seconds then turn the key off and it will do the normal 3 beeps when it starts but wont keep warning you as you keep driving

    Please take the roll of Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear, your comments and reactions and wit is so much like his its scary. You would be the perfect plug in, and Marty could be Captain Slow with his MX-5 and technical knowledge of cars, as for Hammond, I'm sure you could find some goofball to play him. Cheers from the U.S!

    LOL, you're so right. I have a 08 legacy b4 and the seat belt siren behaves like in your forester.

    😂 I own a 2008 Forester and mine is the same story.I'm the second owner and mine is missing the front left splash guard, the front right wheel is the same style but a different finish cause it's actually from an outback, the rear seats have been reapolstered, the sunroof is cracked but doesn't leak, the paint on the outside doesn't match exactly and one or two panels have been repainted with a terribly matched paint job, the bulbs for the headlights were not installed correctly and were pointed towards the sky, and before I changed the air filter when you started the cars heater it all smelled like weed. Gotta love that second hand subie life

    the reason the car keeps beeping is that you didnt take out the keys. i drive a chevy and the two beeps are exactly the same.

    With my 06 WRX I was able to fix the seatbelt issue, just shove your seatbelt in and out of the hole multiple times fast (you have to hold down the release button)

    well my 1990 honda accord EX 2 door is my first real car that iv bought and owned and only i driven i guess i dont have as much to complain about as you do Moog but here I go. Well the only real major thing i have to complain about is on the passenger seat there is a lever for the rear passengers to pull on to move the front seat foward on the inner side about elbow height. every time i pull the hand brake i smash my elbow into it and holding my elbow in great pain for 5 to 10 min. every time..

    I live in a family of 3 (going on 4) Subarus... all Imprezas so far. I completely understand everything you said Moog. As far as styling goes.. that's all personal oppinion. IMHO, your Forester is one of the sexiest ones I've ever seen!
    The beeping is COMPLETELY annoying. And as for the throttle prob.. it's because in 2005 Subaru switched to an electronic throttle... no more direct control though a wire. Which is CRAP!
    BUT! I'm a Subaru buyer for LIFE! I'll be sad when your beast is gone!

    if you think that suspension was bad try a Hyundai terracan. as for the headlight washers, in my 350z if the lights are on and I use the windscreen wash it also does the headlights but sprays all over the place. I have the convertable. many an accidental hair wash at traffic lights.
