True, everyone almost tests these CPUs only with RTX 3080 or 6800XT like top tier GPUs. Well this indeed shows how different these CPUs are but those who buy 3080/6800 doesn't go with these mid range CPUs.

@@mistermo4424 Hmm if you don't consider to upgrade, I would recommend a cheaper board like B560M Bazooka or B560M Mortar. However, I think you shouldn't spend much less on a motherboard because 11th gen consumes more watts than 10th gen, so the VRM will heat more. In summary, it is recommended a nice VRM. IMO the 11400f at 175 is definitely worth it compared to the 10400f at around 145-150 because the 11th gen has productivity performance comparable to that of the r5 3600. In many cases it actually outperforms zen 2 for productivity. Even if you only plan on gaming I think the extra $25 is worth it in case you do decide to do stuff aside from gaming and the CPU will also hold more value in the future. Considering the r5 3600 can hardly be found for 200 ATM, the 11400f at 175 is a no brainer for a new mid range system IMO.

Likely won't notice any gains over your 2600, I would stick with what you have (and I upgrade a lot just for fun, I went through a dozen GPUs in 4 years). But you can do as you wish, I would just consider that a downgrade since I use multi-core a lot (love my Threadripper), and gains in gaming will be minimal at best even though I'm the kind of person that insists on running 300 fps in games even when they are rendered on a 60 Hz 4k monitor because I can tell the difference in input lag from 240 fps to 300 fps, but even I wouldn't be too worried about it, I would just overclock more (example, even my 2200g was delided and direct die phase cooled at -50c, because why not? Haha! I love to have fun and crank fps to the max!)

I really love where the price:performance came in for this one. My cousin decided to build a gaming pc at MC recently and I told him to go with this. Buuuut he also decided he wanted a full size ATX motherboard with wifi, meaning a $200 Z590 board due to limited selection. It's a pretty wonky combo, but I'm hoping resizable bar or direct storage let's him make use of the gen 4 lanes he paid so much extra for.

And now AMD has no reason to hurry up the 5300x either. I have a sneaking suspicion that neither of them wants to make a fresh 4c/8t because with these ipc gains they are going to be perfectly relevant for a long time, and the sweet spot for price/performance gaming for the forseeable future. By Meteor Lake and Zen 4, in only a year or so, a 4/8 will equal the new consoles in multithreaded performance, and absolutely obliterate them in single threaded. i m currently building a system myself and i almost got to buying the 11400f but i then decided against it and got a ryzen 3600 instead and i got a 4 months old one used for 116 instead of 187. Because i have 2 mayor issues with the 11400f first is its power consumption...its just horrible... but the main point is the platform itself. I m not just buying a cpu chip. i m buying into the platform and i just like am4 way more as an overall platform, especially 5 years down the road. Intel socket 1200 is pretty much allready dead. There is no upgrade path to it AT ALL. everything more expensive than the 11400 and intel wont make sense again since amd are simply better up there, alot of cores? nope.. not with intel either. what about 12th gen then? nope.. new socket again.. so you buy into a platform and it starts and ends with that one cpu. On am4 on the other hand, even tho i might lose out on a couple fps here and there now... in 5 years, i can go ahead and buy a used ryzen 5900x for cheap from someone whos switching to am5 for example and pretty much double up on cores going from 6 to 12 and i dont need to change anyhting for that, same mainboard, same ram. there are so many good cpus above that ryzen 3600 to upgrade to in the future wich i simply cannot do on intel side and this is a HUGE advantage, that i will not give up for maybe a couple fps less (especially since i cann oven put that 3600 to full load right now with my gpu)
