It's amazing how it comes to life on the turntable - you can appreciate the flow, balance, and dynamism of the sculpt in all its beauty. This truly is a masterwork that feels deceptively effortless, like a Swiss watch. Stunning piece of mastercraft, sculpt, engineering, and above all, imagination. It's like the story itself - they could have taken the easy road, but instead, they took on the challenge and, as a result, achieved way more. Bravo, WETA.
Exactly mate! Weta pushed every possible concept here and were brave enough to tackle it and have a go & even then push to improve and do even more! Incredible piece and to my mind, Wetas crowning glory! 👍🏻
Great video, awesome to see your reactions, and the genuine excitement this piece has brought you. Money well spent I'd say 😂😂. Something else that this reminds me of, the fact that we all collect for different reasons - and this alone is why a statue might appeal to some more than others. That aside though, I think each of us can still appreciate when a fellow collector strikes gold - I think it helps remind us all why we do this.

Most excellent Statue and enjoyed the unboxing. Yes - a great piece. Wraith swirlie bits are very similar to Dark Galdriel which I have. That took a while to put together but you significantly more complex. Congratulations.
Those in the end were the words of a true passionate fan of LOTR. I see a lot of people seeking for the Jnd hyperrealistic, or the Prime1 statues, but here I'll say what I already said on The Cyber Hobbit channel which i do follow and appreciate: WETA pieces are DIFFERENT. To me, they look like the OG, they are where you can actually see and breath The Lord of the Rings. They manage to capture the essence of that world in a way no one else does, imho. Oh... and the unboxing was incredible, nice video!

Unfortunately, my custom display case isn't done yet . . . so I'm not sure when I'll be able to unbox it. I'll at least give everything a look to make sure nothing is damaged. thats an eye opener and no mistake ! Weta raised the bar pretty high with this. I think the difference between Weta and other companies with regard to likeness, is that the figures, to me at least look as if they are in motion, fluid and alive. other companies it looks like the figures are paused, like when you pause a DVD, perfectly realised but static and stiff. Weta pieces have a life to them. For all the immense engineering and artistry to this piece, the detail i like the most is Gollum's hand breaking through the water, thats a sublime detail. is there anyway you can vary the lighting a little ? the full on light flattens the colours a little ?

Wish I had room to open and display the Weta Masters Collection. I have everyone from Gollum, Treebeard #33, Gandalf and Frodo on cart, Thranduil on Throne, Get off the road and they are all in Sealed Boxes. Waiting for this one too, but wishing I had the room to display them. Welcome the Masters Collection Universe.
Great video Jace (as always). Well worth the wait. OMG! I knew it was fiddly and fragile, but I have to say, my heart was in my mouth just watching you put it together. Yep, LOTR is written all over this piece. Now I'm both excited and petrified waiting for my one to arrive. Pray for me. 😂
Hey matey! Just be really careful with piecing together the entire lower section and try to not turn the base, but rather you move around the base to access different areas, as there’s bits that hang over the sides etc Also, I’d fully set Frodo up as you want him (ie: the one ring in place & air bubbles if you want them?) as you don’t want to be taking him on & off as he’s a really tight fit in there!! I should be ok though as I'm quite handy and I have quite a long tweezers that will help me get into those very tight spaces. I am thinking of constructing it on a Rotating Turntable so I should be able to rotate it as I need. Either way, I'll take my time and continue to check out your video and indeed Weta's video too. I'm sure I'll get it constructed eventually. 😂
Nothing yet has sold me on this piece. I do applaud Weta for the shear artistry of creating something like this, but personally would have preferred what was on the art print. The $3k price tag didn't help either. Super glad your happy with it and thanks for the video! One pet peeve (maybe even a topic for another video) is it drives me crazy to see others pull the pieces out of the box and set them on tables! I've been collecting statues for over 25 years and I only take pieces directly from the styrofoam and place it on the statue. Also why I'm scarred to buy any piece 2nd hand.

I guess I’ll have to unpack mine soon 😅 Pray mine is 💯 because my luck with Weta statues hasn’t been great lately 😢 Likeness is indeed less than on Escape and green led seems a bit dim (but that might just be the overall lighting). The swirlies seem to be very similar to the swirlies on Dark Queen Galadriel, which are also a bit flexible. By far the most complex and ‘technical’ LotR statue to date, but that obviously comes at a huge cost.
Hey matey - it’s dark here now and I can confirm that the LED’s are really good and add so much ambience to the overall feel and look of the diorama! Yeah mate, and when you do open it, get ready for one fiddly assembly! 😁👍🏻
Your enthusiasm is infectious! Someone should send this video to the Weta artists to see what joy they bring. The structure, engineering, and ambition for this is amazing, but I’m one of those boring people who would have preferred what was on the art print. For me, the image of Gollum leading Frodo and Sam through the dead marshes is such an iconic one, as they travel to Mordor on their quest. Sometimes the simple statues are the best, like Bilbo in Bag End. But still I applaud Weta for their ambition here. The ringwraiths hunting the hobbits in the Shire is another iconic image, which is why, for me, I prefer that MC over this one, and Treebeard above them all. But this is still such a gorgeous diorama, and if I had the money, of course I would have it, but I have to be extra picky these days with the high prices.

The engineering that must have gone into developing it must have been inspired. Incredible piece. If you don’t mind my asking, how do you present your pieces at home? Do you put them behind glass or I guess what I mean is I find people want to touch things because that is the way we are. However you know the saying, “Look with your eyes, not with your hands,” how do you protect your pieces from visitors who have no clue how delicate and fragile these things are? I keep most of my pieces in display cases with locks, but huge ones like what you got, I would elevate it high enough just to keep it safe. Sorry for meandering with my words, but I hope you get where I am coming from. Congratulations.

It’s just subtle mate, the complexity is more apparent up close and in hand… for me the paint app is superb, as it is with the Escape off the Road dio also 👍🏻
Yeah, obviously I’m a huge fan of P1 LOTR line, but this, for total LOTR essence, beats anything P1 have done, hands down! It just oozes the atmosphere from the film!… 👍🏻
@Haunt of the Collector Oh for sure, it definitely has the LOTR vibes to it, there's no denying that. I just absolutely hate Wetas bases, just a black plate, it cheapens it for me. I think their best piece, was the Ringwraith on the horse, and Sauron.

Ahh, bro! Great unboxing and video as usual! Congratulations, friend! I am seriously pumped up on your behalf. A great, great piece! I know just the feeling you are experiencing. However, I think it is a shame with the likeness. For example, Prime 1 Studio did an excellent job on that tiny, miniature statue of Gandalf on the "Gandalf vs. Balrog" piece by P1. I personally think Weta needs to step up their game in regards of portrait similiarity. As the skilled craftmen they are, I thought they would see the errors in terms of likeness. Like, how can they be satisified with the portrait result when it is straight up doesn't look like the actors. How can they allow it to slide through? Yeah sure, you can see the resemblance, but still.. Don't know if you agree or disagree with me, mate? What's your take?
Hey matey, thing is that P1 digital sculpt and Weta hand sculpt… so, there’s that to be taken into account and also, I feel Weta has that ‘rustic’, natural feel to their pieces? Despite my critique, there is just something about the Weta 1/6 Lord of the Rings & Hobbit statues, I absolutely love! As mentioned prior, it results in a more organic feel
Congrats mate on this beautiful piece. Ur right the portrait ain't the best but coming up with this diorama with this amount of details makes it a wonderful piece to own. Was it shipped from a local UK warehouse? Was there any tax or duty to be paid for u? And what u reckon the box weight in total?
Hey matey - it came from Weta EU warehouse and as yet, I’ve not been issued an import fee? But occasionally it can come a few days later? I think the box gross weight was 10kg? Pretty light, given it’s size! 👍🏻

They told me an email will be sent with the shipping charges once determined. I totally forgot about shipping and I really hope it doesn't cost much! Glad you are really happy with this piece ! But for me it just doesn't do anything! All the colours seem to clash with no real contrast, looks more like a cheap toy! With a 3k price tag I would have expected more out of this piece ! But hey like they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the main thing is that you love it! For me the side of the road is a much better piece!
Hey there, yeah each to their own dude! But the paint app on this is certainly on par with Escape off the Road, just maybe more subtle? Tye environment itself is more bleak and ‘worn’ which I think they’ve captured perfectly with Thai piece!? But as you say, it’s maybe not for everyone? 👍🏻
I already have my turntable. Just waiting for this incredible piece to make it here! It definitely epitomizes what a MC statue should. For those of us with Treebeard as well. I like to think of these two MC masterpieces as companion pieces representing the story of the Hobbits during nearly the same time of their respective, but separate, "The Two Towers" travels. It is a dynamic comparison of how Merry and Pippin's journey vividly contrast with the much more arduous and frankly terrifying journey of Sam and Frodo...at least at this time of the telling of the story.

Awesome video mate. Paint is a tad bit of a let down for the price, BUT the concept and sculpt work on this piece is 10/10.
It’s just subtle mate, the complexity is more apparent up close and in hand… for me the paint app is superb, as it is with the Escape off the Road dio also 👍🏻

It's pretty nice, wonderful details, nice light up, but not something I would buy, I find the Prime 1 pieces to be the best LOTR statues out there.
Yeah, obviously I’m a huge fan of P1 LOTR line, but this, for total LOTR essence, beats anything P1 have done, hands down! It just oozes the atmosphere from the film!… 👍🏻
@Haunt of the Collector Oh for sure, it definitely has the LOTR vibes to it, there's no denying that. I just absolutely hate Wetas bases, just a black plate, it cheapens it for me. I think their best piece, was the Ringwraith on the horse, and Sauron.

@@hauntofthecollector Yea sculpted would've been the right way to go, now they look like paint brushes. Maybe its possible to mod them a bit...
@@jormajortikka6682 I’m thinking of maybe trimming some to at least alter the height of some so they’re all not so uniform?… have tried to bend and move them so they look more flattened by the wind, but they’re very solidly upright!… 👍🏻
Ahh, bro! Great unboxing and video as usual! Congratulations, friend! I am seriously pumped up on your behalf. A great, great piece! I know just the feeling you are experiencing. However, I think it is a shame with the likeness. For example, Prime 1 Studio did an excellent job on that tiny, miniature statue of Gandalf on the "Gandalf vs. Balrog" piece by P1. I personally think Weta needs to step up their game in regards of portrait similiarity. As the skilled craftmen they are, I thought they would see the errors in terms of likeness. Like, how can they be satisified with the portrait result when it is straight up doesn't look like the actors. How can they allow it to slide through? Yeah sure, you can see the resemblance, but still.. Don't know if you agree or disagree with me, mate? What's your take?
Hey matey, thing is that P1 digital sculpt and Weta hand sculpt… so, there’s that to be taken into account and also, I feel Weta has that ‘rustic’, natural feel to their pieces? But, the portraits are some way off here and yeah, I feel that there could be an improvement potentially?…

@@hauntofthecollector Yeah, I am familiar with the various sculpting techniques and methods. I totally agree with you. It makes it more natural/more impressive when they hand sculpt it. Despite my critique, there is just something about the Weta 1/6 Lord of the Rings & Hobbit statues, I absolutely love! As mentioned prior, it results in a more organic feel

Congrats mate on this beautiful piece. Ur right the portrait ain't the best but coming up with this diorama with this amount of details makes it a wonderful piece to own. Was it shipped from a local UK warehouse? Was there any tax or duty to be paid for u? And what u reckon the box weight in total?
Hey matey - it came from Weta EU warehouse and as yet, I’ve not been issued an import fee? But occasionally it can come a few days later?
I think the box gross weight was 10kg? Pretty light, given it’s size! 👍🏻
@Haunt of the Collector thx mate. I was on the phone to weta in NZ asking when my order will ship (US address) I was told 1st or second week of April as they are doing it in batches. They told me an email will be sent with the shipping charges once determined. I totally forgot about shipping and I really hope it doesn't cost much! Do u mind me asking how much was the shipping in ur case?
@@ksks4205 sure mate, I think it was about £45 for me? Very cheap shipping from Weta EU, but we normally get shafted on the import fee (which I’ve not been billed for yet?)… 👍🏻

I only have a small complaint on this one, I do not know if it is the oled or the colour of Sam looks really washed out. It looks much darker on the photos. But I have to say I love that piece as much as the escape of the road piece! But I got to be honest, this piece is nothing for my sausage fingers!!😂! I hope you are happy with this one 😊 cant wait for the review!

Glad you are really happy with this piece ! But for me it just doesn't do anything! All the colours seem to clash with no real contrast, looks more like a cheap toy! With a 3k price tag I would have expected more out of this piece ! But hey like they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the main thing is that you love it! For me the side of the road is a much better piece!
Hey there, yeah each to their own dude! But the paint app on this is certainly on par with Escape off the Road, just maybe more subtle? Tye environment itself is more bleak and ‘worn’ which I think they’ve captured perfectly with Thai piece!?
But as you say, it’s maybe not for everyone? 👍🏻
I already have my turntable. Just waiting for this incredible piece to make it here! It definitely epitomizes what a MC statue should. For those of us with Treebeard as well. I like to think of these two MC masterpieces as companion pieces representing the story of the Hobbits during nearly the same time of their respective, but separate, "The Two Towers" travels. It is a dynamic comparison of how Merry and Pippin's journey vividly contrast with the much more arduous and frankly terrifying journey of Sam and Frodo...at least at this time of the telling of the story.
