Gracias! But, I think you're conflating two shows / tours! The Number Of The Beast tour (1982) in Toronto was at Massey Hall. The show at Kingswood was Piece Of Mind, in 1983 (I believe Coney Hatch opened). I didn't go to either, but I remember them both. Hope Barcelona is treating you well!
First time seeing your channel. Many Mexican fans love international artists such as Iron Maiden. I'm Mexican born in Zacatecas and reside in Los Angeles and the culture and love for artists like these is surreal in Mexico.

Gotta be extra careful of that here! I had a phone stolen from my front pocket at both Metallica and The Who, both times in the bootleg merch sections (after Metallica, before The Who). I have a friend who's had seven phones stolen, six of them on the metro.
I’ve been a fan of Iron Maiden for decades. My first show was last month in Anaheim CA. I had no idea the love for Maiden in the Mexican community. It was cool to see.

Dude! It was a great show. Sorry we missed you. We arrived about 6:30 and took the Metro. Bought 3 bootleg t-shirts. The rain held up for us too. Never been to a show with so many people and everyone was very polite, civil and friendly. Mexico City is a true gem and world class city no doubt. Thanks for all your advice, tips and suggestions. Ah, good to hear about the subway. And man, people (particularly Americans, sorry!) are really ignorant about Mexico. They think they're gonna come here for a week or two and be the focus of everyone on the whole country, and that they're gonna be kidnapped, robbed or killed. Las camisetas cuestan $50,00 usd, ofifcial merchandise, tenían como 10 diseños diferentes y algunas sudaderas, muy pocas cosas como parches etc, en México estoy viendo que venden cientos de productos y accesorios de Iron Maiden, esa es la cultura mexicana excepcional. Well, if a person is from Mexico, they're Mexican. If they're from Canada, they're Canadian. If they're from the United States of America, what else can they be called but 'American'? I'm Canadian, my passport and permanent resident card both say I'm Canadian; why would I refer to myself as American?
Ah, gracias, Gaby! Yeah, Bruce said 65,000, but he has a tendency to exaggerate (he also said there were 23,000 each night at Palacio in 2019). When Metallica has played (sold out) Foro Sol, Lars has stated it's 55,000. That sounds more realistic, but who knows for sure.
The band is cool about how they are accepting of this. I’m sure they would prefer that Mexico have copyright rules because they’re losing a lot of money on merchandising, but at the same time this helps build their fan base down there and it doesn’t seem to bother them or they wouldn’t still keep coming back for these massive shows in Mexico. to tell you the truth, it wouldn’t surprise me a bit if Iron Maiden themselves is involved in all this merchandising!
Iron Maiden has always been at the forefront of giving their fans more respect and less rules. 20 years ago when many other bands were mad as hell about cell phones video taping their shows and people taking pictures, Iron Maiden would encourage it and ask their fans to post their concert photos on their website.
I really don't think they (or any band) are losing any money from this. First, because they don't sell official pens, lighters, coffee mugs, keychains, stickers, etc. But also, most people can't afford official shirts and hoodies, so they weren't gonna buy one anyway. Instead, they buy an affordable bootleg. And The way I see it, anytime a person is wearing a band's logo, official or bootleg, they're supporting the band.

As you may already know, many of these items that remain unsold, appear in El Chopo, with luck. $200 is still a decent price, but I'm afraid that with the current situation, they'll be at 300 sooner than later. Sad. Many times some of these bootlegs are way better than the super expensive and bland official merchandise sold inside the venue.

Hey Dan, have you noticed that the vendors are wearing uniforms? Most of them anyway. It's a black/red sort of football jersey, with SOUVENIRS in the front and FORO SOL with a skull in the back. First seen at 1:58 (guy in the white cap walking behind you) and you get a good look at the back at 5:59, they even have sleeve numbers. You can see them several times during the video. I've noticed them at other venues but here they were quite striking. It's just an odd thing, this ain't no mickey mouse operation. Also, LMAO @ 20:21 "Oh yeah, BIG smoker!"
Yes, I pointed that out to Lilia! I started seeing that a few years ago, I think they started wearing lanyards, or something that identified them as official (though still very much unofficial) vendors. I asked one of them many years ago how their whole system works. It's very organized. Man, I can't believe anybody even watched the part with the Costanza reference, let alone got it! Well done! Of all of the things he pretended to be, a smoker was my favourite, just because it's so absurd. I live the way he plays it so casually: "What, I've always smoked."

Nah, I've been coming to concerts here for 19 years, and it's not a problem. As a matter of fact, Metallica and Pearl Jam have mentioned the bootleg merch in their DVDs. I also saw Soundgarden's crew buying a bunch of stuff outside, and were on the phone with band members describing it to them, and asking them what they wanted.
From bands like Cannibal Corpse to Rammstein, Mexico city always make merch like this no matter what. Also, there are band members that buy some stuff from vendors and don't say anything. The entire Mexico has a lot stamps printing t-shirts stores where you actually can have a stamp of wherever you want and cheaper than here in the states.

Ah, thanks! But, I don't know why people who have never been here, or have never seen these shirts in person, are saying they're not good quality. I've been buying these shirts (as well as shirts from many other sources), and they're as good as it gets. I wear t-shirts 365 days a year, and never have a problem with any of them.
@@danbowskimexico It's just common sense those prints are made out of plastic looks great in the beginning but after 5 to 7 washes and dries they start to crack and peel. of course you got plenty of shirts But guarantee if you keep wearing the plastic ones, keep washing them and try not to put them in the dryer because if you put in a dryer that definitely start cracking and peeling faster. It doesn't happen the 1st time or But eventually I'll start to crack and peel. But it's all good you get what you pay for right?

I don't understand this attitude of pledging undying support for multimillionaires (not to mention that there is infinitely more variety in bootlegs, and in some cases, better quality). As mentioned, I've been a huge Iron Maiden fan since 1982, and don't begrudge them for being massively successful. But, I'm not gonna feel like I have to avoid buying great, unofficial merch to show my support. It's like people are expecting a pat on the head from Rod Smallwood.

Yep, every band. And of course, the bigger the venue, the more stands and more merch. But even shows with just a few hundred people in attendance will have a couple of people selling things.

Hey Dan, have you noticed that the vendors are wearing uniforms? Most of them anyway. It's a black/red sort of football jersey, with SOUVENIRS in the front and FORO SOL with a skull in the back. First seen at 1:58 (guy in the white cap walking behind you) and you get a good look at the back at 5:59, they even have sleeve numbers. You can see them several times during the video.
I've noticed them at other venues but here they were quite striking. It's just an odd thing, this ain't no mickey mouse operation.

Yes, I pointed that out to Lilia! I started seeing that a few years ago, I think they started wearing lanyards, or something that identified them as official (though still very much unofficial) vendors. I asked one of them many years ago how their whole system works. It's very organized.

I saw a guy with a piece of mind album cover on the front of his shirt with the Bible verse on the back (and God shall wipe away all tears) he said he bought it in Mexico City last month. I’ll be there at the end of this month, do you know where I could possibly find that shirt?
The only place I could think of would be El Chopo. There are like 200 vendors there, I'd guess at least one of them would have it.

Nah, I've been coming to concerts here for 19 years, and it's not a problem. As a matter of fact, Metallica and Pearl Jam have mentioned the bootleg merch in their DVDs. I also saw Soundgarden's crew buying a bunch of stuff outside, and were on the phone with band members describing it to them, and asking them what they wanted.

From bands like Cannibal Corpse to Rammstein, Mexico city always make merch like this no matter what. Also, there are band members that buy some stuff from vendors and don't say anything. The entire Mexico has a lot stamps printing t-shirts stores where you actually can have a stamp of wherever you want and cheaper than here in the states.

Ah, thanks! But, I don't know why people who have never been here, or have never seen these shirts in person, are saying they're not good quality. I've been buying these shirts (as well as shirts from many other sources), and they're as good as it gets. I wear t-shirts 365 days a year, and never have a problem with any of them.
@@danbowskimexico It's just common sense those prints are made out of plastic looks great in the beginning but after 5 to 7 washes and dries they start to crack and peel. of course you got plenty of shirts But guarantee if you keep wearing the plastic ones, keep washing them and try not to put them in the dryer because if you put in a dryer that definitely start cracking and peeling faster. It doesn't happen the 1st time or But eventually I'll start to crack and peel. But it's all good you get what you pay for right?

I don't understand this attitude of pledging undying support for multimillionaires (not to mention that there is infinitely more variety in bootlegs, and in some cases, better quality). As mentioned, I've been a huge Iron Maiden fan since 1982, and don't begrudge them for being massively successful. But, I'm not gonna feel like I have to avoid buying great, unofficial merch to show my support. It's like people are expecting a pat on the head from Rod Smallwood.
