Thanks man, To be honest even with all the practising I did to record this, If I tried to do it again, I doubt I'd manage to do the DDD skip without a lot of luck.

Wow, the BLJ spot in the basement is _brutal._ The spot in the foyer wasn't too bad, but... jeez, this sideways stair BLJ is difficult. I can only chain up to 3 BLJs before I break free, and I've been working at it for a while XD
Hey Cam, It is insanely difficult, I literally had to practice for hours and hours and I've got to be honest I'm just glad I was recording at the time when I hit it :), because I've only managed to do it 2 more times since making the video.
it's so hard to do not even the pro speed runners do it consistently
I got through the first glitch after about 12-13 hours spread out across two days, but then I saw the second glitch and I think I gotta give up lmao
I did it! I finally did it! I did have to use savestates and the gameshark codes showing my speed (i played it on project 64 with a logitech F310 controller), but still it feels like a MASSIVE achievement! I have been at it since a few months back, and gave up after managing to perform the lobby blj and reach the basement but the basement glitch seemed impossible to me. But with persistence and literally HOURS of practice and perfect timing, as well as luck, i managed to build a speed of 406 which got me clipped right through the center of the DDD and onto the back side! For a few seconds i went fucking ballistic, and i somehow still havent grasped how i was actually able to do it. First came the 1 star clear, and about a day or two after i got the 0 star run. Just a little note for the people who are still on this to this day. If you are like me and just love this game but you are pretty mediocre on it, maybe decent at best, and wonder if its worth it to spend countless hours trying to do this, for a few minutes of absolute bliss....YES it is worth it cause you will feel like a literall god afterwards. This is one of the videos who kinda kept me sane during the whole process, so thank you. Oh and one last thing....DONT underestimate going neutral just before you press left on the final mario's landing, it makes all the difference cause you can reserve a shitload of speed. I have heard it ideally needs about 420-430 speec but i managed to do it with as little as 406 so i guess its also very much luck based. Good luck!

Out of about 500 attempts, only once have I got past the first star door. I used a savestate on that corner. Most failed attempts were me failling to BLJ, and 5 were me getting past the entrance door but teleportng to the wrong room. That stair BLJ can go to hell, though.

I got the first one. It's actually pretty easy once you figure it out, but that basement one, oh boy.
Heres a tip if you are stuck on the first glitch, on the second jump in the double jump try to move mario to the right a tiny bit

This is quite helpful, but I'm still having a lot of trouble with it. Getting into the wall, that's simple. Long-jumping in that small space... much more annoying than I'd think, but doable. However, I seem to repeatedly underestimate how much speed I'm building up, leading to me zipping out of there before I'm intending to. If I could just manage that, I feel that the rest of "Bowser 1 early" should be no problem.
This makes me dread the "Bowser 2 early" part of the run though... Fortunately, I distinctly remember the other BLJs afterwards as being extremely simple to pull off, so I should basically have won the challenge once I'm in Bowser 2. I don't need to pull off a good speedrun time, I just need to do the tricks to be satisfied here.
Do you have to have FAS or can this be performed just on a regular game?
Ugh, this is so hard *~* I’m still struggling with the first glitch- I can jump through the wall but I am just to dumm to do the jumping part 😂😭
I can do the long jump but when mario starts to gain speed he clips out through the back of the wall, I accidentally entered bob omb battlefield once 😂
I started to this again after a long while and spent hours, today I tried again after like 15 min I actually did it I was so happy

@@AnimeniacSimey no I kind of stopped after a while but a few times I was close by getting through the door but yeah I don’t think I touched Mario 64 on my n64 in like half a year and even when I did I would only try occasionally

I did that but the area doesn't load correctly so you can't go anywhere

2:09 when do you hold down/back while you blj or when you get launched?
i can't even get past the first set of bljs because as soon as i clip into the wall and get in the right spot mario just decides he's not gonna long jump at all or not get into the space i lined it up with

I have been trying to do the first glitch where i go 7 steps down and double jump into the first area for an hour by now and i think it’s because im using the VERY delayed (at least for speed runners which i am not i just want to blj for the first time) switch emulation from Nintendo online so it there a way to this glitch with switch?

2:09 I got Mario stuck in the small space no prob. But I keep hitting the staircase to bob-omb field instead towards the entrance door to the castle. This keeps happening over and over.

I cant glitch through the 8 star door but I can do the BLJ in the corner, simply because I can never turn around in time to go back up the stairs and through the 8 star door

I'm a noob at this but a couple things worth mentioning which worked for me.
Firstly use an emulator so you can use instant save/restore points. This will speed up your trial and error massively. Without it I don't think it's possible to learn fast enough to make any meaningful progress. I'm playing it on Wii U's emulator which has only 1 restore point and it takes a while to load it (about 10 seconds) and I reckon I would have cut hours off my training time if I had a 1 key instant restore as with PC emulators, with many save slots to instantly practice any section at any time.
For the foyer BLJ, it seems Mario's back should be parallel with the wall while BLJing. Then while BLJing gradually steer Mario to his right into the spamming location. Once you start spamming, count 12 spam yahoo's before releasing. Less than 12 = not enough speed imo. While you're spamming, try not to drift to Mario's right or left.
Once you're behind the entrance door, if the camera is not behind the door with you, use RB to force it through, then RB again to reset the cam. Now rotate the cam with C-right until the next rotation will shoot you out, then rotate cam the last time and immediately pause before the camera has a chance to rotate. Now unpause and pause again, until you manage to pause while Mario is midway between doors and stairs. With the game paused you can make an adjustment to Mario's direction if you're off course. Muscle memory is needed here since the slightest change in stick angle = a very large change in direction. I aim for Mario to hit the centerline of the stairs. This should cause Mario to get stuck on the stairs, and this is easy to fix - just angle Mario's back about 20 degrees to the left of stair centerline (even pointing at the left railing is fine too) and jump once (not rapidly, which will kill your speed). Every time you jump it gives some chance of being released, just keep slowly jumping once at a time with a rest in between until you are ejected all the way to Bowser.
With this technique I have a pretty good success rate, and I'm about to move onto the basement, which I'm considering not attempting until I switch over to a PC emulator for the instant restore points.
edit: seem to have a training tool for the basement: get Mario BLJing on the spot without moving (just straight up and down) on the black tile of the second top step, then save game state mid jump. Then you can try different arcs and timings of all parameters of the initial movement towards the railing. However I haven't found anything that works. The most I've got is 2 BLJs spammed off the railing. I wonder if the run-up to the first BLJ and the change of direction are somehow necessary?

I did a glitch earlier. So in the castle on the railing Mario kept crouching while having a sezuire
It worked for me and I beat the game but once I got to the credits it froze and now any time I go to play the game it just loads the frozen credits and won’t let me do anything... what should I do to fix this?

I tried to blg the 50 star door but I went too slow. I’m pressing A fast. Am I doing something wrong? Do you have any tips on what to do to make me go very fast doing a blg, it would really be helpful for my 45 star runs.
Press A faster is the exact and only advice. Keep practising!!

im about 1 hr into tryin this for the first time and the closest i got was to the stairs and then completely missed the star door...my fingers hurt.
Very good speedrun, but oh man I cannot do this for the life of me. The camera keeps coming out of the first spot and leads to me not being able to do a BLJ
Man i just can't BLJ into the corner it won't get stuck in the corner when i BLJ there i hold Z button and mash A button but i don't get suck in the corner to glitch through to the door and its already hard enough to BLJ in that tight space i need help knowing how to get stuck in that corner near the basement and a lot of times the stupid camera is in the wrong direction so I can't even do it in the first place and when i successfully do a long jump in that corner i won't get stuck in it to glitch through i don't know what im doing wrong.
I can’t get the backward long jump up the endless stairs to work. I’m not on the actual N64 I’m on a PC port. So I don’t even know if it is possible to do.
